Our family --- children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren --- spent an unforgettable Labor Day weekend at the Cub River Lodge. The property itself accommodated all of us comfortably and provided plenty of room for whatever activity or quiet time we wanted to enjoy at the moment. The outside space is large and beautiful with so many things to do ... swim, swing, play volleyball or horseshoes, fish, or sit around a campfire making s'mores and singing together. We treasured our time and made memories that will stay with us forever.

Our family gathered for a week to celebrate 50 years of marriage. 5 of our 6 children, their spouses, and 14 of our 17 grandchildren were excited to spend time together at the Red Cub Lodge. We were not disappointed in any sense of the word. We found the accommodations to be clean, comfortable, and private, close enough to the outside world, but removed enough to feel free from the burdens of crowded, busy cities, freeways, and shopping. Without question, the swimming pool and hot tubs complex was by far the favorite gathering place for everyone, especially with the temperatures in the 90's all week. The grounds were immaculate, clean, safe, and well maintained every day by our favorite host of all time, Lauren. We all felt that he was there to ensure that we were happy, safe, and comfortable at all times. He was most welcoming, and assured us that anything we might need would be provided upon request, including for our Family Olympics Day. He even took some of us on a personal tour into the furthest reaches of the Cub River Valley and shared with us the local early history and natural resources which make it such a unique and beautiful area of Idaho. As we gathered together our final evening to celebrate the 50 years, he even joined with us for a delicious dinner down by the Cub River. All in all, this experience was much more than we could have hoped for and certainly will go down in each of our lives as a very special family time of love, fun, and companionship.

While we have stayed at many places over the years. This is the only one we stayed at twice, based upon a group vote. It is a place where you can just enjoy the property.

We absolutely love this property! The swimming pool was a hit! Being able to ride our four wheelers right from the property was a hit! The beautiful yard and activities was a hit! And being able to sleep 50 people in beds was so awesome! We will be coming back for sure! This is our favorite spot for our family reunion. The updates made were great!

We had 38:at our reunion. There were lots of things that our family lived ved about this location. They have lots of rooms and lots of beds. The secluded location with tons of shade trees really added to the experience. Our family really liked th pool and hot tubs. The glamping tents were a hit too

We thoroughly enjoyed our family reunion held at Red Cub Lodge. The venue was as described, with plenty of room for our large group, both inside and out. We particularly enjoyed the spring-fed swimming pool and dual hot tubs. The property manager was communicative and helpful. We will definitely consider staying at this lovely place again in the future.

We had a great stay. Lots of room for everyone, and things to do on the property and the surrounding area. It is a beautiful oasis and everyone had a great time. Thank you Lauren and Scott for being great hosts.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lodge! The facility was more than ample for our group of 30. The kitchen had everything necessary to prepare meals. The fresh water pool was a hit and a favorite activity. The babbling river, two glamping tents, fire ring, volleyball, horseshoe pits, beanie toss and beautiful natural surrounding all added to a most enjoyable visit. We also appreciated Loren's advice, helpfulness and friendship!

Our big family had such a great time! Didn’t need anything extra to fill our time. The yard and swings were amazing! We rented this place for the yard and it did not disappoint. Thank you! The pool was amazing. We just wished that it had a lock on it to more easily keep the little kids out.

Our stay here was perfect in every way. Communication leading up to our stay was always quick and our questions always answered. Arrival was seamless and everything was as expected. The owner, who lives on site, was always there when we needed, but didn't intrude. The grounds were well kept and the whole place was beautiful. Everyone decided they would want to go back! Thanks again.

Our family of 30+ stayed at the property over Labor Day weekend, and our experience was memorable in every good way. The lodge and property more than met our expectations with lots of space to gather inside together, well-stocked kitchen and an abundance of bathrooms, individual space for everyone, beautiful outdoor space for activities of every sort. It was precious family time we'll remember for a long time to come. We hope to make more memories there in the future, too.

We loved our stay at the lodge! Lots of beds and plenty of open spaces for playing games etc. But the pool is the STAR of the place, it is one of the most amazing pools we’ve ever been in. The warm spring water made all the difference! No chlorine or any chemicals just pure mountain water. Loved it! If you plan on cooking a lot as I did, the kitchen could use some upgraded tools and small appliances but that wasn’t an issue for me as I brought all of my cooking necessities from home. Overall it was a fantastic stay and we would love to come again.

We had a lovely family reunion at the cub river property. The kitchen is well equipped for a large group. The owner lives on the property, which was great. He provided our group a lot of privacy while still being available to help us navigate local hikes and access features of the property. The pool is well equipped with flotation devices and life jackets, the children lived in the pool! Our family went on hikes, toured caves, enjoyed the hot springs, and spent a day at Bear Lake. The main family room has large couches to seat a large group, which was great for movies! At the cabin there was movies, horse shoes, fire pits, hot tubs, and swimming. Overall enough space to facilitate alone time while keeping five families under one roof to facilitate bonding. Thank you for having our large group, we had a blast.

We had a family reunion at the Red Cub Lodge. Scott was incredibly kind and accommodating to let us look at the property prior to our stay. Loren the property caretaker was as kind to us as could be. He was helpful and full of knowledge about the area and the property. The cabin is a little bit older as most cabins are but they have done a fantastic job of updating it and making great use of the space for a big group. It was really clean which was a huge bonus as we have stayed at several that have not been taken care of so nicely.
The outdoor part of it was probably everybody's favorite. We had people fishing, the swings throughout the yard were always in use, the volleyball and cornhole were a huge hit. The pool and hot tubs were never empty either. It was awesome to look around and see so many kids outside playing together instead of on their phones. We will be coming back again. Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy such a beautiful place!

Red Cub Lodge is magical! Our first big family vacation with 24 people and it was amazing! Loved sleeping in the tents with the sounds of the water rushing by! Wonderful experience and wonderful host!

Outstanding property with everything we needed! Prior to our arrival, I spoke with Scott, the owner, who assured me that there would be plenty of towels, linens, pool floaties, spices, toilet paper, etc., and he sure delivered!
Beautifully kept property, inside and out! Comfortable beds, great sleeping arrangements! Kitchen stocked better than any other Vrbo we’ve stayed! Ice machine was a huge plus!
The owner’s father is the sweet caretaker and lives on the property, but is very unobtrusive. He responds immediately to your questions and concerns, and is very helpful. We really enjoyed him.
Never heard “I’m bored” from any of our grandchildren, ages 1-16, all week. The kids and adults alike enjoyed the outdoor activities together, whether swimming, sitting in one of the hot tubs, playing volleyball, corn hole, fishing, or just relaxing with a book on the comfortable hammocks, listening to the sounds of the rushing river. Nights were spent around the campfire, talking, laughing, and making s’mores and memories.
This will definitely go down in our book as one of our most memorable and favorite family vacations! This property gets two thumbs up from our group and I would undoubtedly recommend a stay at the Red Club Lodge for any family who wants to disconnect from the electronic world and reconnect with each other! Thanks, Scott, for helping us create these wonderful family memories! And thanks for the delicious cherries, Lauren! They were yummy!

We had our wedding here and the property was beautiful! The Lodge and grounds are just as amazing as the photos. Scott was very responsive and helpful during the planning process. The owner of the property lives above the garage and he was also very helpful and let us use his tools and other items to set up for the wedding.

We loved our stay. This was the third year in a row staying here but unfortunately I’m not sure we’ll be able to go back as the rates have increased. The only complaints are with the AC, it gets quite hot and the ac units don’t quite keep up especially two upstairs bedrooms as the power kept cutting off and the rooms became unbearable. Overall we love this place and we’re sad to be looking for another place for our reunion next year.

We hosted our family and friends for a long wedding weekend, including a ceremony and reception in the backyard. It could not have been more perfect - all weekend it was so nice to have so many little spots for small groups to break off and hang out, whether they wanted to sit in the shade and chat, play lawn games, nap in a swing, or swim. The willows and the river were just stunningly gorgeous and the house was exactly as expected per the photos - neat, clean, and very comfortable. The kitchen was perfect for hosting such a massive group (32 overnight guests and up to 52 daily). Laurin was so wonderful throughout the planning process, promptly answering my questions and going above and beyond to research solutions for us. Everyone kept saying it was the perfect spot. We highly recommend the Red Cub Lodge and already can’t wait to plan a trip back!!!

We had a family reunion for my husband's 70 birthday and all of our children and grandchildren came - 30 in all! It was the perfect setting for us! So relaxing! Everyone loved the swimming pool & hot tubs and spent a great deal of time there. There were even plenty of life jackets and water floatees. Both of the glamping tents were used and appreciated. There were plenty of gathering spaces both in the house and in the picturesque area between the hillside and the Cub River. A very friendly robin often came visiting and my husband was thrilled to see a lazuli bunting with it's brilliant blue head.
There is a fridge/freezer downstairs in addition to the one in the kitchen which was helpful. We had everything we needed for our meals. Preston is about a 20 minute drive from the lodge if you need anything.
On our last night we had a campfire & roasted marshmallows at one of the two firepit areas. That's when I noticed the pretty solar lights in the trees, around the glamping tents and pool. Magical!
The huge TV in the living room is great but if you want to watch a movie it's wise to bring a dvd. Streaming will be difficult. Two rooms upstairs were a little warm because there was either no AC unit or it kept flipping the circuit but it was a small inconvenience. It would get down in the 50's at night which cooled things off nicely.
Our daughter just posted on our family Messenger board... "My only complaint about the reunion is that it wasn't long enough." :)

This property is a hidden jem! Right off the main canyon road, but feels like your own little oasis! So much to do on the grounds with the swings, hammocks, corn hole, horse shoe, pool, hot tub, and just relaxing listening to the river!
River not for playing in- is too fast moving and rocky for that. But it sure is beautiful!!
The on site host Lauren was so nice!! He was there when you need him, but we did not feel like he was intruding or anything of the sort. We didn't really see him the whole time! It was actually nice how much he helped to get us settled and answer our questions when we got there. He even took a few of us in his car up the canyon to show us the best places to hike and ride our 4 wheelers. The 'A' tour! ;)
You'll love your stay and all the space inside.
A couple notes: the floor in the basement is a coated cement with a few rugs. Unexpected for us, but did not phase us or our kids one bit! (And it's easier clean up if you have any spills!)
Tons of towels for the bathrooms and even more for the pool!
We Highly recommend!!!

We just had a great family reunion at Red Cub. The accommodations were great but the owners willingness to ensure all our needs were met were impressive. We even got a little tour of the area. What an awesome experience. Truly fun for the whole family. Thank you

This was a great location and lodge with beautiful grounds, completely stocked house and lots of activities for all 33 of us....pool, hot tubs, glamping tents, volleyball, horseshoe, corn hole game, and more. Scott and Lauren were great hosts, helpful and accommodating. Recommend this property to any and all.

My family, fourteen of us including my wife, daughters, son-in-laws and grandchildren, had a wonderful nine days at this delightful home on the Cub River. We entertained ourselves primarily outside at the pool/hot tubs, playing corn hole, volleyball, tether ball, fishing, and on the various swings. In the evenings we enjoyed a few outside fires, but mostly spent our time lounging the living area or playing games at the dining room table. When it was time to drift off to sleep we slipped away to the various comfortable bedrooms or out to the tents on the river for a restful sleep. The river rushing by the two tents is incredibly serene.
Lauren was around caring for the property and answered any questions we had. He was completely available, but utterly unobtrusive. A most gracious and kind host.
This is a quiet serene place in a beautiful little valley. Shopping is about 20-30 minutes away and we made a few trips to town to pick up some items and have a soft cone ice cream.
All and all we had a really grand time. I would highly recommend the place for a family gathering or a get together with a few small families and friends. Just remember to snag one of the glamping tents on the river for a peaceful night’s sleep.

The place was great for our group of 22. This is the amount that can comfortably stay in the top two floors. The basement is usable but really only for a large group of children. No worries for our group. The outside is great. The pool is spring fed (cool but not cold) for every guest and the river running through the property is great for flyfishing. The teens loved the enormous tree swings. The grass is usable for spikeball, can jam or whatever else.

We had our family reunion at this amazing property. It provided all that was needed for both fun and relaxation. The house was very very comfortable for our group of 21, adults and children. The outside space was perfect for both playing and lounging. The property is maintained very nicely, and we loved having the pool with fresh spring water and no chemicals! We highly recommend this property.

Great Reunion House
It is a beautiful location and wonderful property. Not too far from the local library. Pool and hot tubs are awesome. Owners are very proactive and thoughtful, yet not invasive. We had 50 persons total. Entire basement has one bathroom. That is the air hockey room, the large bunk room and the downstairs bedroom. It works when we had all the older kids sleep in the bunkroom and go to use the bathrooms with their parents mostly.

Wonderful place
Red Cub Lodge was amazing! We had 33 people and had plenty of room. The property was amazing! The pool was amazing. Lauren was kind and helpful. Only draw back was a couple of bedrooms did not have air conditioning. And lots of stairs! We have a handicap person in our family a little hard for him. Otherwise we loved the place a great place to get away from it all.

Family Reunion
We could not have asked for a better location for our reunion. We all grew up camping and hiking in Cub River, who knew there was such an amazing property up there. We stayed a full 7 days and the kids could have stayed in that pool all summer. The kitchen was as well stocked as any rental I've been to and the 4 (kind of 5) mastersuits were wonderful. The only con for our group were all of the stairs. Mom and Dad had a hard time with the sunken living room, Mom uses a walker most of the time and we kept having to lift it up and down those two steps just to get from the bedroom/bath to the kitchen, doable but not ideal. If anyone is wheelchair bound you could not stay here. All in all, one of my top 5 rentals ever! Great Host!!

Excellent family-oriented property.
Our family of 30 consisting of adults and children all voted to stay here again. The pool was pristine, the property well-maintained, and the sleeping arrangements ideal for our group. One of the owners lives on the property and was very responsive to our needs. Highly recommended.

Great place for a family reunion
Our family of 40+ stayed for 3 nights and had a lot of fun. The pool and hot tubs are the best, along with the big beautiful functional backyard and activities there. The lodge is older and does not have A/C and got very hot in the afternoons. The owner’s father lives above the garage and is very kind and helpful. The owner didn’t always respond to messages we sent. There were a lot of newly remodeled bedrooms and bathrooms and 2 fun tents near the river with king size beds in them which were nice and unique. We also found a bat in the house the last night!

Beautiful location!
We held our family reunion at the Red Cub Lodge. We had nearly 40 people at the party. The biggest hit with the family was the pool. The kids especially loved it. The nightly campfire was so fun too. The only difficulty was that the internet is spotty and TV reception was difficult except in one room. But then, we didn't come there to watch TV. The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of beds. I loved the sound of the running Cub River.

Great communication with Scott, and beautiful location! The last guests before us didn’t clean the kitchen dishes very well, but otherwise not a lot of complaints!

Fantastic mountain cabin
We chose this house for our wedding weekend with all of our friends and family. We had approximately 30 guests and never felt like the house was too crowded or over filled with people. Everyone had a great time. The owner and his father, Scott and Laurin, were wonderful and so helpful in our planning process for the wedding and the genrtal overall weekend. We were even able to arrange a time to meet Laurin and see the house a few months prior to the even to prepare all of our decorations and supplies.
This place is perfect for a retreat, family gathering, and wedding!

Fantastic Family Reunion
We had the BEST time at Red Cub Lodge! The grounds were beautiful and there was SO much to do. We loved the shade from all the willow trees. Obviously the pool was where the kids spent most of the time.
The only heads up that we had for future visitors was that some of the room descriptions were a little generous around how private and secluded certain areas were. Outside of the 2 master bedrooms everything is very close to each other. We didn’t mind this at all. However if you are looking for a very quiet corner for perhaps a newborn crying baby; you would be able to hear it through the neighboring rooms.
The on site landlord was a big plus and he was willing to help us with everything. The kids who all tried, caught fish. Temperatures were not a problem with the new A/C units. We will be coming back!

Fantastic setting!
We traveled here with 5 families from Michigan and had a very enjoyable time. We couldn't have asked for a better setting for 20 kids. The swings, pool, hot tub yard games and river kept everyone busy when we weren't gone fishing or sightseeing. The portneuf river tube rides was a blast along with the Baker Ranch wagon ride and picnic. The owner was always helpful when needed as well. We would highly recommend this for anyone coming with a large group needing multiple bedrooms and lots of kids.
