About this house rental
On the water with expansive views and a private deepwater dock on the property for your boat. This location cannot be beat. This year round home is located on Southport Island, a short five-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Boothbay Harbor. It is perched on the edge of Townsend Gut with water views from every room. You could easily spend the entire day watching the boats travel past from the porch while listening to the seagulls sing. Robinson’s Wharf (the island’s most popular restaurant) is a short walk away. The house underwent a full renovation in early 2018 which included all new furniture/ decorations and is ready for visitors! If you need more space a seasonal cottage adjacent to this property is also available for rent on VRBO #1380743.
The main level has an open floor plan with living, dining and kitchen that look out onto Townsend Gut – the views are stunning. Three sliding doors lead to the porch that is perfect for relaxing, watching the world go by and happy hour. This level also contains a large master bedroom with a queen bed and a full wall of windows overlooking Decker’s Cove. The master bathroom has ample closet space, double sinks and walk in shower. The main floor powder room includes a stackable washer/dryer for those lucky enough for longer stays.
The upper level views rival those of downstairs with 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom with a tub shower. Two bedrooms have queen beds and the third bedroom has a pair of twin beds.
The property is stunning with new professional landscaping and ample space for lawn games or lounging under the large trees while watching the tides rise and fall. There is a private deepwater dock right in the yard if you want to bring your boat.
Southport Island is only a 5 minute drive from downtown Boothbay Harbor – just over the Townsend Gut Swing Bridge. Southport Island is close enough to Boothbay but also has its own restaurants and sites. Robinson’s Wharf, Cozy's Dockside and Newagen Inn are highly recommended restaurants on the island. Hendricks Head Beach is located on the west side of the island. Sailing, boating and kayaking are spectacular activities in and around the island. If you want to venture off the island, the Boothbay Harbor Region has extensive nature trails, lake swimming (Knickerbocker Lake), golfing, an aquarium and one of the best Botanical Gardens in the country.
** 2024: The Historic Southport Bridge will be under renovation throughout '24. During the summer months we have been told that they will be using power hand tools only and it will be down to one lane of traffic. They will be starting work in the early morning hours. Given the orientation of the house, we don't anticipate a lot of disruption to our renters but as a precaution we're adding room air conditioners to all the bedrooms to minimize any potential disturbance.
**you can also rent the 1 bedroom cottage on the property if you need more space. VRBO listing #1380743. Contact Kim for more info**

Doing this really isn't my thing..so i would rather not . My preference would be to talk to the owners of the establishment one on one.
We had a nice vacation.

This home was pretty much as shown in the listing. The first level bed/bath were ideal for the grandparents. Three upstairs bedrooms along with the separate cottage on the property gave us plenty of room for a large family gathering. We were familiar with the area, so we knew (and appreciated) the hustle and bustle of the busy cove. Home owner was easily accessible and answered communications quickly. Thanks for a great week!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming house in Southport. The manager was terrific to work with and responded quickly to any inquiries we had. You are steps away from a delightful restaurant and the house is situated so you have wonderful views from all the rooms. The parking is a tiny challenge because of the ongoing work on the bridge next door but once we figured out a plan, it became quite easy. I would highly recommend this house to anyone craving a bucolic Maine rental with water views.

The pictures of the property are so much better than what was actually inside the house. It is much older and is run down. There is no air-conditioning except for three window units that were installed after our arrival, and one of them was not working properly. There was no AC for the master bedroom. The one upstairs bedroom has no door. To access the bathroom, they had to go down their steps then up another staircase. The furniture in the living room needs cleaned or replaced. The dishwasher did not work properly. I was shocked by the reviews that people gave this place. The window coverings were abysmal. They did not keep out any sun light so everyone was awake by 5 AM. There was an uncovered skylight in the bedroom without a door. The lighting and mirrors in the master bath were awful. The window side had to be closed the entire time because it was street view. The mattresses were awful; they all need replaced as does the bedding. The hostess seemed quite nice, but the property needs many more amenities than what it had. We used to own a beach house in South Carolina that would put this property to shame. Everything was top notch at our property, and I guess I expected the same at this property. While we enjoyed Maine, I would not stay here again. The entire family was sorely disappointed.

Our second stay at this lovely waterfront house, and we hope to return soon! 2 adults and 2 teens for a week of nearly perfect blue skies and Maine summer weather. The home is comfortable and roomy with spectacular views of the water...it's basically in the water at high tide. Kim was just as super responsive and helpful on our couple small requests as she was the last time. We kept a 28 foot boat at the large dock, well protected in the cove so no need to move the boat to a mooring at night (unlike many other places in town with docks exposed to wind and waves). Bridge construction was ongoing but did not bother us. Thanks for having us Kim!

We have been coming to Southport for this fall weekend for many years, but just discovered this gem of a spot last year. What an amazing house with incredible views!

Great location, beautiful view, very clean and a treat to have breakfast and happy hours out on the deck overlooking the waterfront. It was spacious and loved the openness surrounded by window views, just a little tight with bedrooms/bathrooms for 6 adults ... probably better with no more than 4 adults and kids. Great spot and an easy drive to attractions - would definitely recommend!

We had a wonderful at Kim’s house. It had everything we needed! Being right on the bay was amazing! Having a great restaurant next door just added to the magic.

We had a wonderful experience at this home. The location is right next to a great restaurant and bar which is where the lobster boats dock - The only downside is you're right next to where the lobster boats dock, so very early AM is noisy with the drone of diesel motors. But it was a small item to deal with. We would most definitely book this home again but for a longer stay.

We enjoyed our time in Maine! The home was clean and the rooms were as pictured. The views from nearly every window were nice and the deck out back overlooking the dock was fantastic. The kitchen had a few basics which was helpful. Instructions about the home in general were clear and as expected. The location of the house was perfect. It seemed that nothing was more than a 5-15 minute drive. We were able to park 3 cars on the property easily and we used the dock every day.
One thing we were not expecting was the restaurant/bar located directly outside the back of the house. They had live music outside on the weekends and offered boat docking for their customers so it was a very busy cove. This wasn’t a huge issue for us but if you’re looking for quiet, you may want to consider that.

Between the view, the beautiful home and the proximity to everything, we had a wonderful week! Highly recommend this home. It is well equipped with everything you need, including the stunning view for morning coffee. The home was very clean and extremely comfortable. It is well worth the money!

This is an incredible property, well kept and in a wonderful location. It’s a 6 minute drive from Booty Bay and had a great restaurant next door. Plenty of space for all of us with separate sleeping quarters which was great. The views are incredible. We highly recommend staying here!

Super house! Clean, organized, comfortable, great location, beautiful views. It was serenity Waking up to view of the Harbor and bedding was so comfortable. Adults and teens had a wonderful time in Southport, the house was perfect. The only thing that could’ve made it better is if the dock had a ladder so it would be easy to get back on the dock if you jumped in. Although that may not be allowed given the boats coming in. Just a suggestion.

There were 4 of us who stayed in this beautiful house. Even though it rained for the first half of the week, it always seemed bright because there are windows everywhere to allow for great views of passing boats and lobstermen bringing in their catches at the end of the day (Robinsons Wharf right next door).
The house was spacious, clean and very nicely decorated. The kitchen is large enough for several cooks in the kitchen. One note: if you are picky about cookware, you may want to bring some of your own pans and knives. We just altered some of our recipes and made do with the many other amenities in the kitchen. It was great having a grill on the deck as well.
Because of the forecast, we opted not to have kayaks delivered to the house, but it would have been quite easy to launch them from the large dock (which doubled as a nice place to have late day cocktails :) )
Kim was extremely easy and pleasant to communicate with. When we arrived at the house, there were no screens on the windows, as the window washers neglected to put them back on. Kim had a team come the next day and put everything back in order.
If you enjoy a bustling, active harbor, I would highly recommend this house.

We are a family of 6 adults and two children, ages 3 and 6. We enjoyed staying at Kim’s home with added bonus of Robinson’s Wharf within walking distance. Southport’s swinging bridge was so interesting to watch. The kids enjoying the dock and the decks. The house is welcoming and the views are awesome. Boothbay Harbor is not far at all. Kim quickly responds to any concerns or questions. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks, Kim!

Enjoyed this nice property with a great view of the water and lobster boats through the expanse of windows or sitting on the balcony. Lots of sunshine coming in the house including the early Maine mornings! Kim is very responsive and helpful and nice to work with. Lobster at the Robinson’s Wharf restaurant is the best! They will boil it for takeout.

Family spent a snug January weekend watching tide rise and fall while reading, puzzling, board gaming by the fire. Gorgeous space and view. Our group of 6 had plenty of space. Garage was a bonus in the snow.

We loved this spot and the cleanliness of the house! Plenty to do in Boothbay which is close by. It has an open, airy feel with beautiful views and is not cluttered at all. Beds were comfortable. Will be a repeat for us for sure!

My wife and I housed our moms and two youngest (adult) kids for a long fall weekend celebration, with additional family renting nearby properties under the same ownership.
The house is beautiful, bright, and clean, and the property is delightfully landscaped with areas for nighttime firepits and sitting at the water's edge enjoying the views. Even a dense fog made for a copacetic setting.
Quaint downtown Boothbay Harbor is just minutes away and the Botanical Gardens are not to be missed (plan on about three hours there).
The owners are very responsive to questions and queries. We heartily recommend this rental.

We had a fabulous time on our 2nd stay at this gorgeous home. The views are incredible, the home is so clean and comfortable, the owner is very responsive. The landscaping around the yard is lovely too. We cooked and grilled at home some nights, plenty of room in the kitchen for several cooks, and the grill was big and worked well. The window blinds upstairs are a nice addition since our last visit. There is so much to do in the area - we enjoyed Monhegan Island and the Botanical Gardens on this trip - but days spent sitting on the deck are just as pleasant. When it's cool you can play games, read, or do puzzles inside and still have that amazing view. We had kayaks delivered and launched off the dock everyday, enjoyed seeing seals and osprey. Highly recommend this property!

We found everything we needed to enjoy a comfortable week on the coast. We spent most of the week either kayaking or boating. Having the lobster pound next door was an added bonus.

The house was a perfect base for our trip to Maine! Although there is so much to do and see around the Boothbay area, we also loved just sitting on the house’s beautiful deck and watching all of the entertaining boating activity! The house was very comfortable, had a well stocked kitchen, and set in a great location. We can’t wait to come back!
