House was great for what we needed. 8 of us (4 adults, 3 teens, 1 child) slept comfortably, adequate towels/washcloths, kitchen well stocked, beds were comfortable, hot tub was excellent, beach towels were great for getting out of the hot tub! Window screens & front door keypad could use some TLC. Definitely recommend for this area!

3 Sisters and our daughters/daughter in law - total of 8 - gathered together to celebrate all the positives in our lives and reconnect with one another. The house was perfect for us . . . not so big we lost one another - but big enough to accommodate our every need. We spent a lot of time on the patio and the hot tub. The large table was a wonderful place to share our meals along with some fun conversation. Our weekend was a memorable experience for all of us. The house felt like home!!

This home worked well for our family trip to Estes Park. We had three teens (19 & 18), two elder parents (77), and two adults. The two rooms upstairs worked well for my elder parents. They did not have to walk up and down stairs. Each of the rooms upstairs had access to own bathroom. My three essentially adult kids slept comfortably in the bedroom downstairs.
Location was good. We had other family members staying in the area. It took us no more than 10 minutes to get to them.
House was very clean and had everything we needed for the week. Owner was very responsive to my questions.

Both from and back of house had such a beautiful view. Waking up to the Elks was so nice. The house was very nice and clean. A perfect spot to be at - very convenient, close to everything. My family & I enjoyed the entire weekend. We'd love to go back again.

I wouldn’t say it’s an easy walk to town. There are no sidewalks. The home is well equipped and very comfortable for 5 adults. We enjoyed our stay. A family of Deer visited us several times a day.

The cabin was fantastic for our group. The location was perfect with amazing views and super close to downtown. The cabin was clean, easily accessible, and provided all the comforts of home. Communication with Ben was excellent. Would recommend to anyone looking to be close to downtown and RMNP.

Very comfortable and met all of our needs. We cooked in the kitchen most meals and it had all we needed for that. The large deck that held the hot tub was a favorite hang out! The large areas for for parking made it easy for us to have some friebds and family visit us at the home.

Clean. Comfortable. Well decorated. Owner very responsive.
Very comfortable beds. Best rental beds we’ve ever slept in. Convenient location. Walk to coffee, Dollar General. Long walk to downtown (we drove). Short walk to Lake Estes.
It’s off a busy street. Not set in the woods. But it was perfect for us as we were out and about most of the day. Great house to come home to.

Our group of 8 found this home a great fit for our stay, 6 of which were teenagers/young adults.
Beds were comfortable, hot tub used daily, kitchen had more than enough daily dishes and most everything else we needed. Closets all large, especially the master and all had a good supply of hangers.
Location to town is walkable but much easier to use the free parking ramp, especially with what seemed to be changing weather. Dollar General was a great option for the handful of things we forgot at the grocery store, easier to walk there than drive and they have just about anything you could need aside from meat/produce.
The kitchen table was great for family dinners.
Washer and dryer worked great with a large counter top for folding laundry.
We saw wild life in the yard, including a momma elk and her baby!
I mentioned to the owner that room darkening curtains would be helpful in the master bedroom and maybe some additional options for relaxed seating upstairs and on the deck.
Overall, we were very happy with our choice to stay here. Communication with owner was helpful and prompt before, during and after our stay.

This spot worked perfectly for our group of 7 which included 3 kids between 8 and 11 years old.
The downstairs was perfect for the kids and allowed for good noise separation:) Also loved the hot tub and views from there.
Good layout and very comfortable beds! Definitely recommend.

Had a great visit to Estes Park last weekend, our stay at this VRBO was awesome, had everything we needed to have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. House was very neat and clean. Beds were super comfortable, loved the views from the Deck and enjoyed the hot tub after our days of exploring. Ben and the property manager made sure everything was as we expected and they were very prompt in replying when we had questions about the house. Can't say enough good things, except I'd definitely stay here again! Thank you for making our trip great!

Without a doubt, the worst experience renting a home, ever.
To start off, we were certain when we pulled up that we must be at the wrong home. It was in a low end section of Estes, crammed in with a bunch of other homes, behind some kind of industrial area and what appears to be a convenient store. The artistry in the pictures online is amazing as they were able to capture photos of the home at just the perfect angles to not show what it really looked like. So in an effort to enjoy our vacation, we were ready to look past this. Then we walked in. This was as dusty and dirty as any home I’ve been in. Carpets disgusting, fans, walls, and blinds all caked with dust. It was so bad 2 of my 4 family members began experiencing significant allergic reactions. The owner did respond immediately and the message given from him and the rental company was the same; if you don’t like, you can go buy all the products to clean it and clean the home yourself. I was shocked! Beyond shocked. I rent this home for immeasurably more than it’s worth and I also have to clean it!! My family’s health comes first so we had no option, but to leave the home after being in there a grand total of maybe a hour and a half, spend more money to stay somewhere else, and then the owner refused to even credit us back the cleaning fee! There is no way I could have made it any worse than when we walked in. I gave the owner so many chances to make this right, but was met with complete disregard. I only write this review as a warning so you know what you are getting yourself in to. Estes is a gorgeous town full of amazing people and things to see, don’t ruin an a amazing trip by accidentally booking this “cabin”.

We had a great stay and gave a 5 for rating due to how great of a time we had and how well stocked the house was. The house itself needs a deep cleaning. The ceiling fans, binds, windows and under furniture needs TLC. The oven as well. Other than that, wonderful experience and beautiful home. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Clean, comfy, and convenient
The house was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was so well equipped with cooking equipment and even spices. The beds were comfortable, and the furnishings perfect for our family of 5 adults. We enjoyed the hot tub and especially enjoyed the back deck that showcased the mountains and Estes Lake. The neighborhood is a working class neighborhood and the homes surrounding the home seem to be occupied by year-round families,. We felt safe in the community. The home is close to town and to RMNP. We would recommend staying here.

Great for our group
Very nice accommodations for our group. We each had our own bedroom and bathrooms which made everything easy. Lots of room for all! Hottub was great after hiking all day. Kitchen was well equipped for anything you need to cook. Loved our stay!
Thanks Ben!

Great property
The property was beautifully done on the inside with open spaces and plenty of room for our party of 5. Our kids had the whole basement for themselves while the adults had plenty of room on the main level. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to have several meals without needing any additional kitchen supplies. The closeness to town and the free parking garage was also a plus for our time spent downtown. Overall, our trip was amazing and the property was exceptional for our needs.

Excellent location! Fantastic amenities!
We had a great time at Ben’s home. Home was well stocked, very comfortable and close to the park which was nice.
All the beds were good, jacuzzi facing the mountains was so nice after hikes during the day.
We were able to get in to the place easily coming in late. Home has a good layout, nice open family and dining area.

Close to it all
Very nice house with a lot of room for everyone. Daughter basically had her own apartment downstairs. Nice place to stay if you are looking to be close to downtown. Not really walkable distance if you have older folks or people who are sensitive to elevation but easy enough to drive into town and RMNP.

Most well-stocked kitchen ever
My husband and our adult children/partners stayed here over Thanksgiving. Ben was great at communicating with us! The kitchen had everything you could need—I literally cooked Thanksgiving dinner here and wanted for nothing! The layout was great for our group of 5 adults—each bedroom had its own bathroom and the common areas fit us well. The beds were super comfortable and we appreciated the extra blankets for cuddling up on the couch. Netflix and Prime were included and the remotes not confusing! 😂 The wood stove was super easy to use. The hot tub was easily accessible off the livingroom. It could have been hotter—it only went to 104 F which isn’t all that hot on a cool November evening. I gave 4/5 on cleanliness only because the master bedroom carpet is pretty stained near the door—Everything else was very clean. The master bedroom has a closet that could be its own bedroom. It had a high chair, pack-and-play and other things in case you had young kids. The location was easy to find, nice and close to town, but the neighboring houses were a bit close and there were some kind of industrial buildings/storage between the house and the view of the lake. Still, we saw deer and elk in the neighborhood. Overall we all agreed it was a good place and we would all happily stay again.

We came out to Colorado for our fall break. The Speckled Owl was a great base for our family as we day tripped into RMNP and Estes Park.

Fall family getaway
Overall, I would like to say that this house was absolutely perfect for our family (2 adults, 3 children - ages 5, 7, 13). I am an avid review reader so I would like to give as much info as possible.
Check in- owner is incredibly responsive prior and during check in. If a 4:00 check in time seems late, there are a TON of fun things to check out near by (shops, restaurants, parks, nature).
Cleanliness- everything was extremely clean. Owners have decorated the home beautifully and have everything and anything you could possibly need (including beach towels for the amazing hot tub, a wine opener, all cooking utensils and needs)
Convenience- The property is ten minutes to Rocky Mountain national park and so close to the heart of Estes that you could even walk. It has near by neighbors but all were extremely kind and it does not keep the wildlife out. We experienced mule deer or elk in the yard every single day we were there. The grocery is a 3-5 minute drive (as well as a Starbucks for those coffee lovers).
Misc comments- the beds are way more comfortable than most vacation rentals we’ve stayed and I loved the amount of cozy blankets provided. My children LOVED the hot tub, breakfast at “eggs of Estes”, the wildlife outside, and the access to movies via Netflix on cold nights after a good hike. The adults appreciated the separate living space and bathroom downstairs by the kids bedroom, the hot tub, and the wine opener ;-)
We would definitely visit again!

Everything we hoped for and more. Made our quick stay even more enjoyable and the kids really enjoyed the hot tub 😊

Beautiful Spot
The home was lovely and comfortable. We spent most of our time (after hiking in RMNP, very close by), out on the second floor deck, enjoying the views of the lake and mountains, eating, and relaxing in the hot tub. The house was a good fit for us (5 adult friends), and would also work well for two adult couples, with a room for kids downstairs. Would definitely return.

Wonderful stay!
Had a wonderful stay! We had a minor issue come up and the host took care of it right away. It was a little more crowded in the area we stayed. I don't think a lot of places nearby were VRBO places, mostly working-class neighborhood. I prefer a little more privacy but we booked late and this was only 3 bed available. Place was clean and fit all our needs. Location was great to RMNP and downtown Estes Park area. Ziggi's coffee shop is within walking distance and I highly recommend. Wildlife was around a lot so that was fun to see!

close to it all
Really enjoyed our stay here! The home is very spacious, kitchen is the best-stocked of anywhere we've stayed, and the beds are very comfortable. It was great to unwind in the hot tub after a day of hiking. Really nice to have a grill and picnic table on the deck to enjoy dinner outside, too. The owner was great at communicating (even letting us know when we made our rental reservation that we'd need to make reservations for Rocky Mountain National Park due to their new timed entry system--we really appreciated that reminder!). The home is off a fairly busy street so if you're wanting to feel like you're away from it all, this may not be the best place for you. But if you're looking for convenience, the location is pretty ideal--it's just minutes from downtown Estes, Lake Estes, and Rocky Mountain National Park, and the deck has a nice view of Lake Estes and the mountains.
