Large (3,000 sqft) home which backs onto the Tahoe Donner ski hill. Forget packing the car and gearing up at the ski slope, simply change at home, go out the back door, strap your on skis and and within 2 minutes you can be on the ski slope. However, because of the slight slope and some traversing required, snowboarders are not able to "ski-in ski-out." The ski area is very small but is a great place for beginners and when lift lines at the bigger resorts are 30+ minutes the longest lines at Tahoe Donner tend to be about 2 to 5 minutes.
In Summer, we are one of the few homes in Tahoe Donner with air conditioning!

This home is at just over 7,000 feet in elevation and is not one of the 'lower' Tahoe Donner homes. There are few trees around it and this enables the expansive views. In addition, sometimes on clear nights we lie down on the back deck for awesome views of the night sky.
Tahoe Donner is a year-round resort located in the historic town of Truckee, California. In addition to being able access the Tahoe Donner ski area from the backyard, there are many recreational opportunities of the Lake Tahoe region.
Walk just a quarter mile up the street while treating yourself to the amazing views from Skislope Way and you will arrive at Tahoe Donner's 35 miles of hiking trails. The extensive network of trails provides fantastic views and a great cardio workout.
Golfers be sure to check out the Tahoe Donner golf course--the highest elevation course in Tahoe, known for having the best greens in the region.
Within Tahoe Donner you will find The Pub, The Lodge, and Pizza on the Hill. In Truckee, you will find amazing dining and shopping in a historic setting.
Located on the ground floor of our mountain home is our 'dorm' room with three bunkbeds and a game room with foosball and a large-screen TV. There is also a separate washer and a dryer. On the main floor are three bedrooms--one eastern king, one queen and one with two twin beds. There is a wide open, family style great room with open kitchen and dining area. The great room opens to the back deck perfect for BBQing, relaxing, and eating. Upstairs is a loft with a trundle bed and a computer desk. The home also is equipped with Wi-Fi.
Please note this house is at about 7,000 feet in elevation. If it snows you will need to have AWD or 4WD to get to it and (as with many of the homes at the higher elevations in Tahoe Donner) during snowstorms it is possible for the road and/or driveway to become temporarily impassible until they are cleared.
IMPORTANT: This is NOT a party house, and we strictly enforce the rental agreement. You may not have more than the reserved number of guests on the property at any time (day or night). Both the Town of Truckee and the Tahoe Donner Association forbid loud noise, or music after 10 pm and before 7 am. This is absolutely a NON-smoking property, no exceptions. Violations of the rental agreement will result in forfeiture of the security deposit and could result in substantial legal liability, so please read it carefully. Violations are a breach of your rental agreement and can result in termination of your stay with no refunds. Sorry, I understand that 95% of you don't need me to say this.
Check in time is 5pm. Checkout time is 11am. At various times during the year we have back-to-back rentals and the cleaners need every bit of six hours to clean (now 8 to 10 hours with additional COVID-19 cleaning procedures.) If you want to ensure early check in or late check out, please reserve an extra day on either end of your reservation :)
We supply linens and basic kitchen stuff like pots, pans, dishes, flatware. We try our best to strike a good balance between keeping fees reasonable and making sure everyone has a great visit to the cabin.
ALL people count, so include all in your reservation. This includes infants and children and anyone who will be on the property even for a short time during the day.

We had a perfect stay at Omar's home in Truckee. The home was perfect for our extended family and was even better than described. The home is sooooooo clean! Omar was incredibly responsive and helpful. There was plenty of private space, but an equally wonderful amount of space for us to gather as a family. The area is quiet and lovely. There were even a few deer finding shelter under the back deck when we were there! This is by the far the nicest VRBO we have stayed in. Absolutely 10 out of 10!

This is our second time renting this home and we love it. Omar is a very responsive and helpful host. We had two families (7 kids) and there is lots to do in the home, and it's just steps away from the slopes. We'll rent again!

This was really a great house with plenty of room for two families of four (four kids 6 to 10) and grandma and grandpa to enjoy. Access was simple by having the garage door opener on an app, it was all we used to access the house our entire stay.
One day we got rained in, but there were plenty of games, reading material (all nicely categorized) and TV options to keep our entire group entertained. The next day it dumped snow and there was plenty of space outdoors to enjoy it.
We're a family of snowboarders, so we couldn't exactly ride out the back door, but the nearest run was less then a five minute walk on packed snow from the rear deck. The house has plenty of room for large groups to stretch out and the views were awesome. We did have a couple of small issues, but the host/owner was always responsive and none of it really negatively impacted our stay.
As others have mentioned, you'll need to bring all of your cooking supplies like oil, syrup, salt/pepper and orther spices, but there are plenty of open drawers and cabinets to store your stuff in. There was also plenty of pots/pans/plates/cups/cooking utensils (bring your own wine glasses).

Great Ski-in Ski-out Tahoe Donner House
Great place for a couple of families to ski Tahoe Donner! Awesome house, plenty of space, clean, warm, and amazing views across the valley to Mt Rose from the kitchen! Ski-in-ski-out, except not for new or very young skiers. My 3 year old could not ski-in/out without significant help from me, especially with 8-12" of new snow, and on the way in. My 6year old was able to do it, but not without considerable effort on the way in during a powder day. That being said, we'd definitely stay again!

We had a excellent stay at the Cabin, lots of space for everyone to spread out and beautiful spot. One shower issue which was quickly remedied. Can’t wait to go back and stay again

Stands Out for All the Right Reasons
We had 8 people looking for comfortable, ski in/ski out lodging. This place was perfect.
It is large, bright, well-located, comfortable, and immaculately clean. You can walk outside, strap on skis and in a minute you are on one of Tahoe Donner's easy (green) slopes.
The kitchen has all the cookware and table setting you will need (but bring everything you will need to cook with, including salt, pepper, spices and oil). There are lots of chairs, beds, sofas, televisions, bathrooms, towels - even shelves full of a wide range of interesting books, all organized by subject matter. You feel like you are stepping into someone's home, but without the clutter and idiosyncrasies that sometimes come along.
The owner was very responsive, even texting us ahead of our check-in time to let us know the place was available early. We didn't need additional help, but he seemed like he would have been very responsive had it been otherwise.

Great stay
House is great, better than portrayed in the pictures. Plenty of space. A library of books and DVDs for kids/adults. Toys for kids of all ages, pool table, foosball, Xbox. Very quiet. Can ski in/out to Tahoe Donner which is fantastic. Omar, the owner, is very friendly and communicative.

A Wonderful Stay
Our family and friends stayed in this property for a week during the summer. There were eight adults, two children, and one toddler. There was plenty of room to spread out during the day due to a large upstairs family room and a large downstairs game room. The two children loved sleeping in the bunk bed room downstairs and the adults slept comfortably in the three bedrooms on the main floor and the loft room. For those enjoying outdoor activities the cabin is conveniently located within walking and biking distance to miles of beautiful trails. It is also a short distance drive to Donner Lake. The property is well equipped with toys for children, books, a pool table, and multiple televisions. We are hoping we can spend another vacation in this beautiful house and area!

Wonderful getaway
The property was all that we had hoped for and more. There was plenty of space for my husband and me plus 8 teenage boys. The layout of the house allowed for time together and time apart. The views are simply gorgeous. The boys loved all of the TVs, pool table, and flus all. The walls of books and movies could keep people entertained for months. Omar was very responsive and made prearrival and check-in super easy.

We were looking for a light, open location. This place didn't disappoint. It is up a hill and has a breath-taking, unobstructed view of Martis Valley and the surrounding mountains.The house has plenty of room and the game room and bunkbed room were a really nice bonus. Kid heaven!

Beautiful views
The home was so wonderful and had incredible views. Our daughter loved the bunk room with her friends and we had so much fun playing foosball. We could walk to beautiful hiking trails from the home and we boated on donner lake which was very close. Wish we weren’t leaving!!

Great for large or multi-family vacations. Air conditioning in the summer! Rare for Sierra homes! Loved it. Foosball, huge library of books and DVDs!

Exactly what we needed

Summer Stay
Excellent area. Beautiful views and fairly close to town & Donner Lake. Very spacious and relaxing atmosphere. Only issues...the A/C didn’t work and there is a good size whole in the wall in the room downstairs.

Wonderful family-friendly rental
We spent our annual trip to Tahoe with a group of families/kids of all ages. The kid-bunk room was great, kitchen + living area open floor plan made evening gatherings fun & easy. Proximity to the slopes was great + we got dumped on! ❄️☺️

Great House
Great spacious house with really nice views. Our kids loved the foosball and other activities, and it's very close to the ski hills. We ordered Instacart 3 times while we were there to save the hassle of going grocery shopping. Omar was great to work with and very responsive.

Great place and location next to the Donner Ski Slopes
The house was big and had everything needed for our stay. The beds were a little uncomfortable (soft) for us, but that's because we do not care for memory foam mattresses. The house was very clean and extremely well organized.
Definitely 4WD or snow chains to gain access in snowy conditions.
The home owner was very prompt and great to deal with in response to the few questions we had.
It was a great house, great location and we will definitely consider staying here again for our next family reunion snow trip.

This cabin is even better than the listing makes it sound! Spacious and well appointed with ski in / ski out access via the Eagle Rock chairlift and tons of family friendly amenities. Owner is responsive and helpful. Would definitely rent again.

Three generation get-together
14 of us stayed comfortably and had a great time. Hiking, geocaching, site-seeing, time at Tahoe, Squaw Mt, Fireworks show, 4th of July parade, fun and games. Thx for all your help with the arrangements.

Great summer rental, and BEST HOST EVER!!
This was an awesome location for our summer trip (11 ppl) to Truckee/Donner, which was our attempt to avoid the holiday (4th of july) crowds at Lake Tahoe. We picked this home primarily because it had A/C during the potentially hot summer month of July, esp because my elderly mother would be with us. We really didn't use the A/C, since the temp didn't go above mid-80s and the breeze was great with open windows. The home was beautiful, clean and spacious. The kids had a nightly sleepover in the "dorm room" and the foosball table was a big hit in the adjoining family room. We took advantage of the local horseback trail riding and archery (private group), didn't really have time to make use of the rec center guest passes since there was so much other fun stuff to do in the area! Our family enjoyed walking around and shopping at Truckee Thursday and visiting Donner state park for a little history of the area and playing at the lake shore (rocky and uncombed, but still fun, esp if you have your own inner tubes or kayaks.)
One of the best things about this rental was our host, Omar. Even though we never met, it felt like he was treating us like friends. I was able to ask questions as we were making our trip plans and always received a thorough response. For example, when we were inquiring about where to watch the fireworks, he went out of his way to suggest to us an alternate plan, one which he himself would do with his own family. With his help, we secured tickets to enjoy the West End Truckee 4th of July beach party which had the most impressive fireworks show we had ever seen! Truly, a memorable experience with our family. We tried not to bother Omar, of course, but when we needed help or had questions, he was easily reachable by phone/text. Many thanks to you, Omar!
To be fair, I guess I should mention that at 7000ft elevation, a few of our family members had some mild elevation symptoms (headaches/shortness of breath/fatigue), but it seemed to be mostly resolved by the next day. We had really dry skin up there, so next time we will be bringing lots of lotion. And bug spray was helpful in some areas as well.
Everyone had a fabulous time in this comfortable home. I would definitely recommend this rental!

This is a great house - with great amenities - and an even better owner!
Just wanted to thank you again for lending us your house, the location, the house, the awesome books, the great kitchen, the technology there, the Alexa, the echo, the foosball table, the rooms, the deck with bbq, etc etc was absolutely wonderful. The guide you put together along with the guest passes, the bunk beds for all of our kids, the open space in your house was just perfect for our vacation. Seriously, it was the perfect house for 3 families. There were so many ways the host was gracious in ensuring our stay was easy. I appreciated the information binder, the drawers that were labeled and the two separate living areas. We hope to rent again in the winter!

Our second stay
The house is great: convenient, comfortable, spacious, homey. Everything you want. And Omar is great. The snow removal service accidentally cut the internet line just before our arrival this time, and Omar was very concerned about our being inconvenienced. We didn't mind . . . the was plenty to do without it, and we had LTE if we REALLY needed the web. But Omar went out of his way to try to get service restored for us. He definitely wants to ensure your comfort while using his place. We'll be back again.

Clean, tidy, organized and big!
We loved our stay in Tahoe Donnor! Omar is an amazing host and is available of you have any questions. Omar will send a email before your stay with entry details. Once inside there is cabin manual with all you need to know about the cabin. There also were phamplets with local information and maps. We will definitely be returning back in the winter to snowboard and ski. Thank You Omar for being so awesome!

We had a great time at house. we came up for a family mountain bike trip and had a large group. it was perfect for us and we will definitely stay there again, the view was amazing

Great house
Overall the house was perfect. Close to town, close to ski hill, very well stocked. Perfect for a relaxing time with family. 1 and only drawback was not being able to sleep in due to light curtains in almost all bedrooms. As soon as that sun was out we were wide awake. But all in all perfect home for vacation

Great Views Relaxing..Perfect for one or several families!
The house was perfect...beautiful views, lots of space and everything you need to make a nice dinner and relax. I especially loved the jacuzzi bathtub and having a large game room next to the children's room. The children loved sleeping downstairs in the bunk beds and getting up to play foosball :) We didn't ski in and out of Donner but we could have. This is a wonderful house for a family or more than one family.

Spacious yet cozy
The house has plenty of space, and it is very quiet . . . both in terms of the neighbors as well as not hearing the other people in the house when in bedrooms. Good kitchen, appliances work well, bathrooms are clean and updated. Omar is very good at providing through details to help you enjoy your stay and ensure no question goes unanswered. The house stays quite warm. It was a perfect family getaway. Keep in mind that returning on skis requires using a more advanced green run (probably should be blue), so beginners may need to be driven back.
