About this house rental
This is a custom home on a mountain side that is full of oaks and natural rock. I've always had the impression that it was designed by an architect but that children of the 60's made it their home. The inside of the house is comfortable and a little quirky with antiques, stained glass and artwork scattered among the contemporary furniture.
Whenever my wife and I travel we really look for something that is "user friendly." For us that means reasonably priced and without excessive fees and rules. We have tried very hard to make this home that kind of rental. We have also been very aware of safety to make sure you, your children and pets are safe in the house and on the decks.
Even though this home is located less than a half mile from the highway, it has a sense of wilderness to it. We find it tranquilizing to sit out on the large elevated deck with view of the valley to the west, the sounds and sights of the river below and the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the East. The evenings might be best however, with sunsets over the valley and the stars against the black night sky.
Quail are commonly seen here. Deer, wild turkeys and bear are seen occasionally throughout the year and hummingbirds visit during the warmer months.
The house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, central heating and air conditioning, cable television with both English and Spanish channels, WIFI and a blue ray player with roughly 1,000 DVDs to choose from. The elevated wrap-around deck is gated and completely fenced to keep your children and pets safe. There is also a picnic area with a propane barbecue and picnic table.
There is about 1,000 square feet of outdoor decking to relax, star gaze, have an adult beverage, read a book or do a little bird watching. The options are abundant and completely up to you! The deck is enclosed by fencing for the extra safety of children and your family pet. There is also a separate deck for barbecuing and having a picnic.

The house was exactly as pictured and the view was amazing and very close to Sequoia which was convenient. The house was neat and tidy BUT it could have been cleaner. The floor was dusty/dirty in places but not horrible. But the one thing that was bad was spider webs all over the windows - inside and out. I did not like that part. There was also an ash tray with used cigarettes in it outside on the deck…However, it’s a nice space and close to the park with a big deck to enjoy the view.

Beautiful house with a big terrace only a few miles from Sequoia NP entrance. You can see Moro Mountain from the terrace and different birds. Absolutely recommendable!

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. The house was clean, comfortable, and the view was spectacular! Close proximity to entrance of Sequoia National Park was great. We ate dinner at the Totem and at Sierra subs. Both our meals were delicious. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Clean. Property is somewhat dated, but just as pictures show. Views of water limited, but beautiful mountain views. Driveway is steep but manageable.

Great property, great view! We only stayed for a night, but everything seemed nice and quaint! Would return again if ever passing through again.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay and being just 2 miles from the National Park. Accommodations were fine, although the 77-degree limit on the A/C was discomforting.

Very close to the national park.

It has everything we needed. The view of the mountains is lovely. The host and and manager are responsive. The drive to NP is really close. There are a couple of restaurants and groceries nearby.

This is a nice vacation home. The deck wraps around three sides of the house which is great for sights and sounds of the river. Good size property in elevated lot far enough from neighbors. House is older but clean and has all basic amenities. WiFi was good. The master bedroom shower drain was slow. Overall, we had a good stay. Thank you!

We really enjoyed stay. The house was clean and comfortable and the view was spectacular. The location was within a couple of miles of the park, which made getting into the park easy.

They say location matters. It does! This house begins with incredible views from the porch balconies. This continues only 2 miles from the National Park. But in all our stays around the country we've never found a more responsive host. He answered our questions and he solved our problems. Thanks Tim!

Convenient home with great views

We met up for the Jazz Festival. Although tucked away, this was a great place to stay, with easy access. my only reservation was the climbing up the steep stairs. ( being in the mountains, I should have known.) One of the group has cardiac problems so this was a bit difficult. Otherwise, everything was very clean and well organized. Virtually anything we needed was available. The views were unbelievable coffee on the porch was fantastic. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Great view from wrap around patio. Great spot, very clean!

The properties views were definitely priceless. The roaring of the river It’s so peaceful to hear. And it’s literally 2 miles to the entrance of the national park. The house is a little outdated, not enough living room space as far as seating. And the fireplace mantle on the floor is definitely a trip hazard. Almost broke a toe on it. And the driveway is a little steep, hope your tires have traction. Other than that the property had everything you would need extra blankets, pillows towels, etc. seamless check in and check out.

We had a great stay here as we visited the Sequoia National Park! Extremely close to the park entrance and a great place for families. The kiddo made herself right at home with the books, games and movies. Cozy and with great views all around!
The host was top notch, very easy to get along with and no problems. Couldn't say enough good things.
Note to travellers: you may want to pick up groceries before you get to the house as there's limited selection in Three Rivers. Not a knock on the property, just a fact of being so close to the park and in the wilderness.
We loved our stay here! Highly recommend!

Our group of four stayed here to visit Sequoia Nat’l Park. The home is very clean and tidy, and it is in a beautiful area directly outside the park entrance. We were able to see a gorgeous sunset over Lake Kaweah during our drive in. Despite being hot in late August, the central AC and fans in every room kept it comfortable inside. A huge collection of interesting books and DVDs were available for indoor entertainment. We had an excellent stay.

What a nice place to stay! Everything was as advertised - a great home base from which to explore Sequoia National Park, and handy to the town of Three Rivers. Highly recommend!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this location. The view from the deck made for a great place to start the day with a cup of coffee and watch the hummingbirds. Peaceful and quiet. A wonderful getaway.

This house was well-suited to visiting Sequoia National Park. The house is convenient to the Foothills entrance. The views are quite impressive and the sound of the river is peaceful.
Property is clean but there were quite a few cobwebs in one of the bedrooms. The floors and beds are very squeaky. Overall it needs to be updated. The biggest issue is the mandate on the wall near the thermostat to not set it below 77 degrees. There are fans everywhere but when it is 100 degrees outside, you’re just pushing hot air around.

Loved the great view and gated wrap around deck. Appreciate that it is pet friendly.

A beautiful place to stay with a very scenic view. Perfect location as it is close to the Park. My whole family loved it and will come back for any future visits.

The view was spectacular! The view and sound of the river was amazing! We enjoyed our stay. If we were to visit that area again we would definitely request to stay there. Parking was a little uncomfortable in a truck. But we managed.

Was a unique and interesting property. Outdoor space was great, really enjoyed views from the decks.

Beautiful views, well kept property, convenient location to park and restaurants. Grounds are lovely. I have just one small suggestion for the owner - a mat for the tub. Stepping on tile with wet feet could cause a fall. Otherwise everything was great.

This mountainside retreat with wonderful views of both the mountains (up) and the river (down) was the perfect home base for our adventures in the area. The spacious house, with a "cabin feel" along with the thoughtful and eclectic decorating, had everything we needed (pots, pans, utensils, etc.) for a very comfortable and peaceful stay. The wrap-around deck was awesome as we enjoyed listening to the birds and the sound of the river in the valley. Each evening, after dinner, we would take a walk down the roads in the area. Beautiful.
We stayed here with another couple, with whom we often adventure, while visiting the part of Sequoia N.P. that was open and also went up to Grant's Grove in King's Canyon to see the General Grant Tree (along with hundreds of other Sequoias.) We hope to return to CA in the future to see the parts of Sequoia N.P. that we were not able to see during this trip. And we will try to plan our trip so that we can stay at this mountain retreat again !!

Good - easy checkin process
Bad - A/C doesn't hold temperature (turns off automatically), so at night you'll wake up with it being 50° inside, despite setting it to 67 before sleeping. No conditioner, and body wash is heavily diluted with water so it doesn't even sud up.
Park was closed due to weather precisely 14 days prior to our checkin. Because we didn't catch it in time (there's a 14 day cancellation window), the host refused to reschedule us and we would have to forfeit the entire cost of our stay. VRBO support was not helpful, saying we had to figure it out with the host.
Host has issues with integrity, per the following quoted messages:
"People come up here for all sorts of reasons, not just the park and I have no way of knowing why someone is coming. " - False. The property is 2 miles from the entrance of the national park, and after speaking to locals, it's painfully clear that this is the main, if not only reason, that people visit this property.
Additionally, he stated "Regardless, this problem has been ongoing for more than the two week/1week cancellation period and you could have cancelled back then and VRBO would have refunded your payment." Also false, as per the official national park website and social medias, the closure occurred precisely 2 weeks prior to our checkin.

We had a great time staying at the property. The views from the deck were amazing, as was hiking around the area. The kids also loved the movies, definately recommend!

There was a cleaning fee of $200 but the sign in the house indicated that we would be charged an additional cleaning fee if the dishes were not done and all items put back in their place. There was also a charge for insurance which is not revealed to you until after you made the reservation and there was a mouse in the house which management said was to be expected in the wilderness. The deck chairs were dirty and the house carpet was torn.

The property was great and the owner was in touch and kept us updated with things in the area. A very positive experience
