The lagoon house was great. We loved the porch! Proximity to the lagoon was very nice. I paddle boarded every morning It was very hot so the AC couldn’t keep up. The backyard was really nice. Very large table out there could accommodate everyone.

We (a family of six - 3 adults/3 kids) stayed at this property in late June. Our overall experience was mixed, leading us to give it three stars.
Pros:
- Check-In Process and Communication: The check-in process was smooth, and the communication with the owner was excellent. We appreciated their kindness in allowing us to check in early.
- Proximity to Lagoon: The walk to the lagoon was short and the lagoon itself was pretty, providing a nice spot for relaxation.
- Neighborhood: The neighborhood was pleasant and peaceful, adding to the overall experience.
Cons:
- Air Conditioning: The listing did not specify that the AC units were only in the bedrooms. The rest of the house was extremely hot, especially during the day, making it uncomfortable to stay indoors. This was particularly challenging with little ones. A Box Fan was provided but impractical to use as it was dirty/dusty.
- Linen Concerns: While the place appeared very clean, we were concerned about the linen. We found hair on the pillows, which made us nervous that the pillowcases and blankets weren't properly washed. We ended up using our own pillowcases and sheets. The rest of the house seemed very well maintained.
Overall, many positive aspects to our stay, the lack of adequate cooling and concerns about cleanliness of the linens significantly impacted our comfort.

Short stay for a wedding weekend in the middle of Hurricane Lee!! House was very clean and great for our family of four. Short walk to a little beach that was perfect to dip my toes and look at the boats and shoreline!

Brimming with whimsical character, this house is just charming. Deborah was easy to communicate with, and the lagoon at the end of the road was a great bonus!

Overall, we were very disappointed with our stay. First off, Deborah gave us less than 24-hour notice that we needed to bring our own sheets and towels. Then, upon arrival, we immediately discovered mouse poop on the kitchen countertops and below the sink. When we messaged Deborah about the mice poop, she read the message but did not respond. The wifi also did not work upon arrival. Luckily Deborah responded to this message, but it was not resolved for an entire day. On top of all that, there was an additional laundry list of things wrong with the house: many of the outlets didn’t work, the porch light did not work, the oven did not work, there was moldy and expired food in the fridge, the dishwasher and sink were full of (clean) dishes for us to put away, the couch was missing cushions, and the bikes and shed reeked of urine.
This house has immense potential. It is charming, has a beautiful yard, and is in a great location, but unfortunately, the execution just wasn’t there. We will definitely not be staying in this house in the future.

Overall, a very good stay. Nice house, responsive owner and excellent location. As a renter there are a couple of things I wish I had known, could have avoided or had given more thought.
We arrived after a long day of travel and had to make our own beds. Not a big deal, but the reality is that I would have preferred to not have one more thing to do upon arrival. Right away we discovered a family of mice living in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. Again, another thing to deal with after a long travel day. Once we got the mice situation taken care of the rest of the stay was quite enjoyable. The owner was a bit peeved that we didn't water the outdoor flowers, but I will leave that for others to debate. If you plan on enjoying the beach, make arrangements for your own beach chairs. There are beach chairs provided but they were in poor condition. The only other watch out is for the living room sofa. I would suggest either repairing it or replacing it. Overall, for future renters I would suggest following up on these items :
Make sure the mice situation is addressed and all access points they use to the house are closed
Request info on the condition of the beach chairs or bring your own
Request Repair or replacement of the living room sofa
Request that all drains be checked and in good order.
We had a good time at this property and hope you will too!

We had a wonderful week at Deb's house. The house is cute and quirky, classic New England beach house. Great porch and yard. Even the teenagers loved it and asked if we could come back! It is very close to OB, teens could bike easily which helped. The location at the end of the street to the quiet lagoon beach was fantastic! Deb was very responsive and great to work with. We will definitely be back!

Had such a nice time at Deb's place in Oak Bluffs. The house was very clean and really cute. We could not believe how close were were to the water, just a quick walk to a little beach that the neighborhood had access to. Great place to watch a sunset. Wishing we were still there! Deb was very responsive and kind. She remembered the small details about our visit. We didn't want to leave.

Great piece of heaven in OB! Hidden gem with great outdoor porch and fire pit for relaxing evenings . Open, warm, welcoming with 2 full baths and outdoor shower that was mainly used. Walk to Lagoon to for clamming and sunsets. Perfect!

Lagoon Heights is a lovely home to rent, located in a great spot close to both down town Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. We enjoyed taking our dogs to the nearby beach and kayaking. The home was spacious for our family and well appointed. Deborah could not have been a more responsive owner to rent from. .

A cute and colorful cape that did the job for our stay ! The backyard was lovely and private had so many great features like porch, fire pit, hammock and a shed full of great beach activities. The king bed caused problems with my husbands back and the couch wasn’t super comfy. Overall a good stay !

Lovely cape house walking distance to private beach. Fully “stocked” with all you need to cook or dine out. Comfortable beds. The owner was wonderful to correspond with and thought of everything! Even batteries for the remote! If you love old charming beautifully decorated homes close to the beach this is the place. Our dogs even enjoyed the daily walks to the private beach and relaxing on the porch. Great place and wonderful family place.

We loved our time here but were disappointed to learn of many appliances that did not work - oven, microwave, ice maker. Also of last minute need to bring all linens and towels. While offered use of owners, it could not be confirmed they were clean. Seems like the cleaning fee would be adjusted when guests bring, set and take away to clean all linens. Deborah seemed lovely and we brought food in but renting a home is to allow for cooking together.

My fiancé and I stayed with our dog for a week and it worked out great. The property itself was close proximity to oak bluffs and Edgartown which made exploring and getting around easy. The house itself was what you’d imagine for a beach property and had a great yard for our dog to run, fire pit and a small beach at the end of the road. Being that it was covid we did have to bring our own linens and towels which I honestly preferred. We had a great week and look forward to our next visit to MV.

As a frequent traveler that has rented out private homes all over the world, this was the most disappointing experience I have ever had. I will say that the house is full of potential, and has some very charming elements like the back porch, but it is in a very poor state and it is clear that the owner has not been to the property in some time to monitor and improve the quality of the home and it's offerings. There were several issues with this house - the top one being the overall cleanliness. The house was dusty, dirty, and disorganized. Prior to our trip, the owner said that guests should bring their own linens "because the housekeeper doesn't do laundry." I found this to be unusual, especially at this price point, and think it should be clearly stated on the listing. Despite communicating with the owner prior to arrival to use linens in the house, our beds were not made upon check in and there was no hand soap in any of the bathrooms or at the kitchen sink. We were told to make our own beds, and the linen closet was extremely disorganized, so we had to go through all of the sheets to find the size that worked for each bed. The linens did not smell clean despite our being told that they were, so we washed everything before using it. There were decorative pillow cases and covers on the beds that did not seem to be clean (and who washed them, if the housekeeper won't?). Given COVID, this was very alarming. The listing notes a fully stocked kitchen, which it wasn't and was extremely disorganized (we ate on salad plates the entire time). We ended up washing all of the dishes before using them, as many did not seem clean and were dusty. There was also mold growing on the shower curtain in one of the bathrooms, cracked tiles in the shower that were covered with duct tape, and a tile caving in behind the sink. Finally, the owner asked if we would be okay with a potential renter coming to see the house during our stay. I stated that we were not comfortable with anyone coming inside, but that she could see the outside of the property. The potential renter came to the house the next day and seemed to have the expectation to see the inside of the house, and I stated that we were okay with her seeing the outside of the house (given COVID, that we were paying to occupy the space, etc.). I then got a nasty text message from the owner saying that she was upset that we did not let the renter in. This was not a nice experience.

Comfortable, spacious house in a nice, safe environment! Host was very accessible and responsive.

Deborah’s home was a perfect spot for a long weekend for our family of 5, wish we could have stayed longer! The decor of the house was cheerful and welcoming, the breezeway was my favorite spot to relax. It was a quick walk down to the lagoon to see incredible sunsets and the central location made it easy to get wherever our adventures took us for the day. Would definitely love to stay here again - for longer!
