We loved the location, the house set up and quiet beach. It is such a beautiful place and we would love to come back! This is a perfect place for family reunions.

House is beautiful and open to the sea, where we could experience big waves. The small kids could enjoy the not deep pool. We have been helped by Johanna in cooking and she's been so kind. We regret not to have met Rosanna.

This was our second time staying at MaryArte. The house is located right on Playa San Miguel, which is a beautiful natural beach (we even saw a sea turtle this time). The house is spacious and clean. Lots of shade and places to relax including the pool area. We love the outdoor kitchen which is well equipped. The host is welcoming and easy to reach. Thank you again for a lovely stay, we can't wait for next year!

4 adults stayed for 15 days and loved the location....quiet beach, amazing sunsets, private pool! Last hour of drive to get there is very rough so didn’t do as much exploring of other areas as would've like too but still saw lots of local areas and enjoyed local restaurants that had excellent food! Dominga the lady across the road made some delicious meals and we had aother local couple "Stuart Little" the ceiviche guy come to the house and prepare us an amazing lobster pasta meal with ceiviche appy. Pizza Tree pizza is actually one of the best pizzas I have ever had and Restaurante San Miguel had the best sesfood platter and dessets were exquisite! Yes i am a foody and was very hsppy with all thd local choices! Even Rio's in nearby San Francisco de Coyote was great! We were pleasantly surprised to have daily housekeeping services and also daily yard and pool maintenance during our stay. Johanna and her husband Danilo are very hard workers and very friendly. The property manager Roxana was very attentive and quick to respond to snh questions or requests abd even treated us to a meal by Dominga one night. We would definitely rent again.

The property is a great beach front property on a beautiful beach (Playa San Miguel). All of the living area are outdoors which was perfect for our family. It’s even nicer than the pictures. Loved this house.

I wanted something that would be more quiet and remote. This home was perfect. Very peaceful/not crowded beach. We loved spending most of our time outside in the gathering area or on the beach. The town of Coyote is 20 minutes away. Not a big town, but you can get essentials for sure and a few really great restaurants. I would stay here and spend more time in a heartbeat. The housekeeper (Anna) was so helpful and lovely! We miss it and will be back!

From the minute we arrived, we were impressed with the house, the layout, the location, the beach, etc. It was a dream come true for a group of family and friends. Ocean views from 3 out of 4 air conditioned rooms. A huge outdoor hangout area with literally every appliance and utensil you can imagine. Adorable pool, especially for kids. Multiple hang out areas. More fridge and freezer space than you could ever need. The owners went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable stay. Sure, the house has an older more traditional feel, but modern wasn't a priority for us. The house is closer to the beach than any other house we saw along the beach, with greener grass than any other yard, with more swings and hammocks. The wifi worked perfectly which is a bonus in costa rica. The stove and barbecue are very large and provide ample cooking space. The staff that take care of the property were lovely. Our weekend was epic to say the least. Thank you!

The beach is amazing and the hosts are very hospitable. The pool and the outdoor living area are really nice. The restaurant selection isn great in the area so the catering is a great option if you like Costa Rican food.

Paradise
Our stay was amazing from beginning to end. The property is absolutely gorgeous. The outdoor "kitchen / eating / hanging out" pavilion area was perfect, allowing us to spend all our time outdoors. The beach is beautiful and very secluded. The waves were a blast to play in. We found all the groceries we needed just 15 minutes away. The caretakers were kind and accommodating. Communication with Roxana was easy. She responded immediately to any questions we had. Would recommend to all! Plan to go back!

Absolutely perfect!
So many good things to say about this property. Roxana was an exceptional host! She was so helpful, accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure every detail was attended to. She even arranged a surprise birthday cake for my husband! The caretaking staff was so lovely, and we had the privilege of enjoying a meal provided by Dominga, the sweet lady across the road. The property is quiet and spacious. Hardly anyone to share the lovely beach with and enjoy the stunning sunsets. The beach is right there and it’s so nice to listen to the waves as you fall asleep. The house is extremely well stocked with everything you might need - boogie boards, beach chairs, games, books, a fully stocked kitchen, hammocks, etc.
The only consideration is that the location is very remote. There are other vacation homes near you, some restaurants/bars, and local activities to do, but it is definitely a trek to nearby towns. Although they are close by distance-wise, the drive is long due to the rutted dirt roads. Definitely come with a full tank of gas, colones and USD as there are no banks nearby and most services require cash payment.

Amazing Area!
We absolutely fell in love with the area and this home was exactly what we needed. The proximity to the beach and the outdoor living space is everything. We ate Locos Cocos, El Barco & Pizza Tree which were all SO delicious. Cannot wait to come back!

Secluded Beachfront Property
We loved our stay at this property as it is situated right on a beautiful, remote, and secluded beach. There are two Bejuco areas in Costa Rica and the house is located in Playa San Miguel, not Bejuco (in Guanacaste not Puntarenas). We were driving from Liberia and the last 1.5 hours or so to get there were quite bumpy and slow through winding unpaved hills and roads. Because of the pandemic, we were looking for spots that were less touristy and crowded, but the area was much more rural than we had expected. There is not really anything within a 20-25 min driving radius and the restaurants and markets are limited. There are no touristy shops that we saw. However, being on the beach and having the little swimming pool for the kids were all we needed. We were there in July and it was hot and humid! The rooms were stifling so we were mostly only inside to sleep and change clothes etc. The rooms had a ceiling fan and one standing fan, but there usually wasn't much airflow. I think having a second fan in the room may have been helpful. It might not bother some people as much - we did acclimate after the first night and some days were cooler because of rain. We had to really just appreciate where we were. The beach is beautiful and we hardly saw any people. The tides and pull are strong but you could go out waist deep and enjoy the waves and body board. My mom still misses her walks up and down the beach searching for crabs, clams, and sea snails. The house had everything we needed to cook in the open air kitchen. There were a lot of mosquitos but that is expected. Maria is lovely and provides daily housekeeping, and the owner Roxanna was wonderful and helpful. She asked one of the local restaurants to deliver food for us after some miscommunication. I would recommend this property if you want to be able to walk out on to a beach that feels private for a true Costa Rican experience!

Beautiful location and surrounding area with great people
We had a great time. The location and outside patio area is just feet from the sand and wonderful. All contact with Roxanne the Manager/Owner was easy. Although it felt like this area was remote with very little tourism (a good thing for us), there was a surprising number of great dining options very close by. Restaurant San Miquel is only 5 minutes away and very special. We were not able to have Dominga cook for us because she was taking a break, but hopefully next time. We saw nesting turtles right in front of the house. The surf was really pounding with a strong swell and only for experienced surfers. Perhaps with a smaller swell, the waves would be more suitable for beginner/intermediate surfers. We would definitely come back to this house. This is a great place for those who want to chill out in a quiet atmosphere and prefer a less touristy environment.

Great place to stay
We spent 5 days with 16 family members. The house was perfect, we had one room and bathroom per family. The house is right in front of the beach. The beach was great and it felt like was had it all for ourselves. The outside common areas were really comfortable with plenty of space for a big group. Overall, a great experience.

Just what the pictures show!
This was absolutely perfect for our family of 12 (ages 60-4) for 5 days. Maria, Dominga and Alex were so hospitable and helpful. We purposefully didn’t rent a vehicle but still managed to have dinner 3 nights out. We walked and got rides. We kayaked through an estuary & explored a butterfly farm. These excursions were no more than 2,5km from the house. The exploring along the beach led us to some caves with so much marine life, just check the tide schedule first! Do yourself a favor: stop looking and rent this location!!

Beach relaxation
Best ever beach break!! Booking, check in, stay were all well coordinated and without a hitch. Eric, Sandra and Maria were very helpful and extremely friendly. Appreciated the prompt answers from Roxana. House and beach as seen online, would love to return again and again!!

Relax-Rejuvenate- Revitalize
There are not enough words to describe how amazing this place is. We travelled with 12 people in our family and the house was perfect for us... so many different, wonderful things to do right out the front. Lots of stuff to do in the surrounding area from dolphin watching, fishing, etc. Mama turtles were right out on the beach nesting- such a magical experience.
It was so relaxing to hang out on the patio, nap in the hammocks and cool off in the pool. The beach was perfect... and felt almost private- the stars and the sunsets took our breath away. It was absolutely the best vacation and it filled our souls with joy and peace to start our new year.
Roxanne and Dixie went above and beyond helping us answer questions, get excursions booked and meals arranged. They answered quickly and guided us all the way through the trip.
Once in Costa Rica the staff helping out at the house were so fabulous- Erick, Alexis and Sandra took very good care of us- immediate help when needed, planning trips and even helped fishing from the shore. Hope one day we will reconnect!
Rancho Loma Clara (from Coyote) brought us AMAZING meals for breakfast and dinner- always on time and very flexible when things came up or we wanted to adjust the menu.
Dixie helped book the dolphin trip and fishing with Felix out of Punta Islita - our guide for both trips Baron was so friendly.
We spent two weeks in this little slice of paradise, we just got home and I want to go back- It will now be my happy place my mind goes to when things get stressful.
Thank you so much for sharing this home and being so gracious and helpful.

Paradijs Costa Rica

Very peaceful
Playa San Miguel is a remote and beautiful spot. The home was great- a bit on the rustic side but wonderful. Maria and the owners were fantastic- anything we needed they took care of right away. Locos Cocos (about 5 houses away) has fantastic food- we ate there about 10 times in the 2 weeks we were there.
The roads are a bit rough from Jicaral to Playa San Miguel but the house and the view are worth the drive!

Great place for Families
We had a great time, the house was able to accommodate 16 of us, ranging from 82 to 2 yrs old. Each room can host 4 people.
We enjoyed our outside kitchen, the hammocks and the beautiful sunsets.
We loved the area, it could be challenging to get there, but when you are there it’s just beautiful and so relaxing.
We couldn’t coordinate our meals, but there is a basic market and butcher close by. We also had a great fish from the area.
Would be back again

Amazing!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay @ Casa Chef Rodolfo. Our stay was for 9 days. We checked in on December 14 at around 530pm and Maria was waiting for us and graciously showed us the the ins and outs of the house and rancho. Maria provided great daily house service, along with Alexis, who managed the property and offered any assistance we needed. We had an issue with the coffee pot and Alexis immediately took care of it and then later that day brought us a new coffee pot.
The house and rancho was amazing and right on the beach/ocean. We adventured just a couple of days, so the majority of our time was spent on our beach and at the house/rancho. The kids surfed and played in the ocean and when they were not in the ocean, they were playing in the pool. The rancho had great views of the beach and ocean, so when we weren't in the water we could be watching it. The house bedrooms were great and very comfortable. The open air feel of the rooms let us hear the waves crashing and feel the nice breezes coming off of the ocean. A couple nights we made a bonfire and watched the night sky.
Our experience and memories made was awesome and will be hard to top for years to come.
Thank you!

Beautiful beach just steps from your bedroom ! ;)
Excellent place to stay in front of the Pacific Ocean in one of the most beautiful virgin surfing beaches of Costa Rica There you can find exotic animals like pizotes, Carey Turtles, whales or go to the beach and catch a full bucket of Clams to prepare your dinner. Pristine warm waters (26 to 28 Celsius degrees) for surfing, snorkeling or fishing just steps away from the house.

The BEST vacation rental!
This is a GREAT vacation rental! The location of the house is in a wonderful quiet and peaceful beach were you can enjoy all the surrounding nature. It is a very safe place. The House was very clean and the property very well maintained, the rooms are very comfortable to accomodate large parties and also has a nice pool. The owner provided excellent customer service. The house has a very spacious outside roofed and open area with kitchen (very well equipped with kitchen utensils), hammocks, table and sitting area, living room, bar - which I loved because it allows for you to enjoy being outside watching and hearing the ocean and nature, while cooking, eating, having drinks with friends or just relaxing!- the house is completely beachfront so it has a fabulous view and is also great for kids. We would absolutely rent it again!

Beautiful beachfront property
My family and and friends were craving a nice relaxed time out, we took the drive there on friday night. The roads (even thou they are gravel) were in great conditions! The property has a beautiful front garden with great parking space to unload our things and atv. The house is very nice rustic, with great natural ventilation and lighting. Has great distribution so all of our friends and family were very comfortable and with privacy. The kitchen, beds and bathrooms were impeccably clean and comfortable. The property has great outdoor space with seating for more than 15 people with high roofs, a very nice deck with a pool so watching the kids have fun was comfortable and convenient. The beach is clean with a nice calm ocean so we had a lot of fun at the sea! The rocks at the north side of the beach have very nice natural sea water pools so we had a great time watching the fish and wildlife!
Overall it was a great experience, beautiful house and outdoor space, beautiful beach and weather.
Highly recommended to anyone that wants to have a beautiful, comfortable getaway to one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica!
5 stars all the way!

Perfect Family Getaway
We traveled to Playa San Miguel over New Years 2017/2018 with 6 adults and 5 kids, ages 6-15. Roxana was great to work with in advance of the trip and arranged meals, surf board rentals and provided directions. The house was absolutely perfect for our group. Nothing fancy but plenty of beds and a bathroom for each bedroom. Other than sleeping, we spent very little time in the house. All our time was spent in the amazing covered outdoor living area - kitchen, several seating areas, hammocks, and a small pool. Right out in front of the house is the most beautiful, flat, long beach with perfect beginner surf waves. We spent hours in the ocean every day - the temperature was ideal! Beware of the rip tide - it can pull you out quickly, but nothing to worry about if you are paying attention!
We enjoyed beers and lunch down the beach at Locos Cocos (not quick, but worth the wait!) and frequented Pizza Tree (just a 5 minute drive). We also had an amazing dinner at Hotel Laguna Mar (next to Pizza Tree) and a nice evening at El Barco (Playa Coyote, 15 minute drive). There are two supermarkets in San Francisco de Coyote (20 minute drive) that we found to be better stocked than the large store we stopped at in Santa Cruz. There's also a great restaurant there called Rio's and a nice little coffee shop.
Roxana arranged a few meals to be served at the house, which was perfect. The food was great, arrived right on schedule, and served in the most beautiful setting! We had a few questions for Roxana during our visit and she was always prompt to address them.
We took a day trip to Samara (for ziplining) and spent at morning at Mike's Butterfly Jungle Farm (and learned SO much from him). Besides that, we just enjoyed our days at the beach! We enjoyed an amazing fireworks display on New Years Eve, got to see a turtle laying eggs, and built a beach bonfire on our last night! So memorable!
We flew into Liberia and would recommend driving to Playa San Miguel through Samara (Road 150 from Nicoya) - seemed to be faster and less dirt roads. We took the other way on the way there and had to drive through several (mostly dry) river beds.
All in all it was a fantastic trip and we'd definitely go back!

Wonderful Beach Setting! WE LOVED OUR STAY.
We stayed for 4 nights 12-26 to 12-30-17! We were a family of 14 ranging in age from 2-83. The drive from San Jose took us longer than our google maps showed because the speed limits are very low. The long drive was worth it however because this beach is fabulous. Very secluded & away from ALL crowds. The owner went out of her way to accommodate us in every way possible. She recommended activities, reserved surf boards & meals for us. She kept in contact with us throughout the stay to make sure all was going well. The beach house was on a great piece of property & very clean. The outside pavilllion is AWESOME! 3 boogie boards free provided & we rented 4 surf boards they arranged & delivered. We didn’t need air conditioning, all rooms had ceiling fans & an additional standing fan. We requested blankets for the beds-they brought them right over as we all got a little cold at night. The first night we got there we asked for a crib-they brought it within an hour. There is a full crew on hand at all times to help you with any problems, we had a couple plumbing issues they fixed them immediately. The maid service was exceptional. The wonderful lady came for at least 4 hours everyday & worked non stop. She brought us extra towels for the beach as well as bathing everyday. There was 24 hour security which was a great comfort. We never felt unsafe around the area but having the man walk around at all times & see him at night with his flashlight around the vast property was awesome. The pool boy was great as well, the pool is very small but was perfect for our kids & clean as can be. He told us where to find Monkeys, what a great 5 min drive where we found 3 different families of monkeys in 3 locations only blocks apart.
As suggested by the security guard we went kayaking at the nearby estuary - great fun $10 ea. Ask the staff for suggestions they are all very willing to make your stay fun. We sometimes had to ask further details via email from the owner, she always responded daily with ideas.
Use the local lady for your meals! We were not sure about it so only booked a few & ended up using her for every breakfast & all dinners except 1 because she was already booked that night. They were always on time & she asked us what we wanted. The price & quality cannot be beat. The one night we went out we ate at the Pizza Tree house a 5 min drive, it was very good. We bought all our lunch supplies nearby at the small town of San Francisco 15 min away.

Paradise in Costa Rica
Just got home from an 10 day family reunion at this amazing property. It is the most relaxing place, stunning beachfront with crashing Pacific waves, and a very comfortable and well-appointed house, rancho style with lots of open spaces for hanging out. We were a group of 12, three families total, many children. The four bedrooms gave each family their own private space, and the open air main section was fantastic for everyone to be together. It is like a most well-loved family beach house, very well-appointed with everything you could possibly want for your comfort. Maria and Sandra came and kept everything clean and comfortable.
At any one time, there was a group sitting down to play boardgames, or the kids splashing in the pool, some people eating, reading in the hammock, wandering down for a walk or a swim in the sea. Having the beach right there was so special, lots of swimming, playing on the sand, sunsets, bonfire at night, stars, walks, evidence of turtles ...
We were a very laid-back group of people who just wanted to relax and enjoy each other and our environment, but if you want activities, there is a place further down on the other end of Playa San Miguel which teaches surfing and also kayaking among the mangroves. You could also drive to activities (but why would you leave the property at all?)
One thing I can strongly recommend is to order meals from the most excellent cook Dominga who will deliver them at mealtimes. Every meal was some different Costa Rican specialty, with a main or chicken, fish, beef or pork (she'll even do shrimp but some of our group was allergic so we skipped), a salad, rice, beans, tortillas, and sides like patacones, fried cassava, picadillos, plantains, bananas prepared interesting styles ... we even got her to make us a traditional Costa Rican Christmas dinner which was a beautiful roast of pork, tamales, and even a rice pudding. The children loved the meals and the fruity drinks.
At one point, some of the kids got sick, and that was when we experienced true Costa Rican kindness. Between Roxana, Maria, Dominga and Alex (and their friends who came to translate) we managed to get everything we needed to help the kids eventhough we were in such a remote location. Dominga even sent a rice drink and Alex cut us coconuts, local remedies. Roxana's dad was also so concerned. I really felt we were cared for like treasured guests.
This property was so much our experience of Costa Rica, thank you!

Hidden paradise
We had a wonderful vacation, we were a large group and there was plenty of space, the house is very comfortable and the outdoor kitchen was great. The small pool was a big hit for the children. The beach is amazing, secluded most of the time we were the only ones there. Such a beautiful place and the owner as well as the people that came to clean and check on us were kind and helpful. We loved it and wished we had stayed longer. It is a long trip from San Jose, about 5 hour car drive but it is worth it!

We spend a week there, the spot is like you own a piece of heaven with beach front view, 2 rooms are facing the beach so you fall asleep and wake up with natural wave sound around you.
The house has a outside social area with pool and relax area for reading and table games where we spent some quality time... the best thing we´ve done was to hire the catering service they bring the food ontime, fresh catches of the day and we requested some tipical food she broght the famous "gallo pinto" race and beans.
The spot has a BBQ Grill available so we went to a small market near by (around 5 min by car) and spent a great sunset BBQ :-)
We recommend to turn right on the beach so you can find some great spots for kids like natural pool formations on the beach.
The beach are super safe for kids , we even found a clam spot for extra grill special !!

We spent a week in February in that paradise :-) located on the ocean seashore, white sand, turquoise transparent sea, tens of pelicans flying over your head, long walks enjoying the endless beaches, horse riding, fishing, ahhhhh we would like to be back to that villa in the near future.
The villa is nice, comfortable with stunning sea view, large terraces, clean pool, nice garden… all went exactly as our host committed to, amazing friendly welcoming, fully equipped with necessary appliances, and all conform to the advertising.
PS; I forgot to add that we were extremely lucky to enjoy the Fiera in the village, great rodeo, good ambience all in PURA VIDA mind set

Beautiful house in Playa San Miguel! It's everything that is advertised and more!. My family and I stayed for 4 days and we loved it. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the beach was great. Perfect for large families with children. This is a place that would accommodate anyone.
From the first moment that I contact Roxana, the owner daughter, she was always very friendly and willing to help. We drove to Punta Arenas and took the Ferry. It was refreshing the one hour on the ocean with seagulls by. The house staff is excellent. And the outside kitchen allows us to cook with a great ocean view while enjoy our family. Buying the fresh sea food from local ventors worth the trouble.
Some days we were in the mood to enjoy the beach all day long, so we order some of the greatest authentic costarican menu from a local lady. Was a great choice!
Walking on the beach at night illuminated by the starlight, we witness one of the greatest moments in our lifes, a big turtle was laying her eggs and the experience was speechless….
Another day we woke up at 4:30 am went to see the birds waking up and flying out from the trees at the estero to start their day, it is a great spectacle of nature to witness while sunrises.
On our way back to San Jose, we decided to drive. We left early that morning and stop to get to know all the wonderful beaches.
We will definitely be back!
