very accommodating staff. very comfortable beds.
needs a bit of refurbishing. Carpets very worn. Its a lovely old building, lots of character but for the cost of the rooms I think it needs a bit of ‘doing up’ . A complete re carpet would make a huge difference.

Historic property with unspoilt rooms, 4 poster, good breakfast, next time request for quiet room at the back BUT enjoying the original features in the main bar…
Noisy due to main road and outside tables parking a bit of a gamble when busy

Was disappointed breakfast is no longer available Monday mornings .When provided the breakfast was excellent as always.
Pillows were too soft and mattress too firm. Not as comfortable a bed as usual when I stay there. The hotel bar closed for Sunday evening and there was no evidence of any staff on duty for hotel guests when i returned to the hotel at 8 15 pm. I felt very vulnerable as i am elderly and no instructions were there to know how to get help if I needed it. The other guests had left and I felt completely alone in a very old building. I had never stayed on a Sunday night before and was quite worried.

If you want a room with atmosphere, the town is for you: lovely panelling, 4 poster bed with excellent feather duvet; church bells from 7am, village green outside the window. Staff were friendly, welcoming and competent; the breakfast was generous and delicious; coffee was first class. Unusually the bathroom lighting was excellent - helpful when you’re struggling to see the mirror first thing in the morning!
Bedroom lighting was dim - we were fine, but hard to read in bed.

Location, bar, friendly staff
Room is very tired, not the cleanest, and to be honest showering is a mission.

Lovely cooked breakfast the works
just one thing it was far too hot must be costing a fortune with the heating bills. I had to open all the windows in my room. Such a waste of electricity

lots of old world charm
the room was on the small side and not well laid out. For example we had a kettle but the lead was short so it had to be on the floor. We booked a superior room but there was nowhere to sit other than on the bed

The location was perfect for our visit, all of the staff were very friendly, the food was good and at a decent price.
Can't really say what was an issue during our three day visit as it was a good break.

The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. The addition of a table fan was a nice touch for added comfort during the summer. The inn had also prepared the baby cot before our arrival, which not many hotels do. The breakfast and dinner were excellent.
More surface space to keep toiletries in the bathroom would have been nice.

We stayed at the Crown Inn for our wedding night and returned in July for our 5 year anniversary. From start to finish the staff were very attentive and welcoming. One of the staff members even managed to secure us a mini fridge so we could put our beers and fizz in. We had a fantastic meal and drinks out on the patio which was so lovely. Overall a fantastic stay for our special occasion. I would highly recommend if you are nearby or looking to stay in the local area!

Fantastic location and great historic venue. Lovely room, clean sheets and towels. I would say 4 star, but not 5. Some more water in the room would have been good. No toothpaste. To be 5 star everything needs to be on point. Carpet was a bit shabby, an upright shower would have been great.
Dinner was very disappointing. The staff were not on the ball. Had to ask for salt and pepper and also the wine list. One of the 3 staff had no idea what beers were available when I asked, then the wrong one was brought out. Another poured wine on the table and didnt say anything. They weren't rude, just not very good. Also for a 5 star restaurant they should have been in some kind of uniform. They looked shabby, one lad was in trainers. The food wasn't bad. 6/10 tops. A real shame as I was looking forward to the meal and was very over priced for what it was. Lovely dining room though, but if you are 5 star dont rest on your laurels.
