Perfect location as we were attending a dinner party at the hotel
Friendly helpful staff. Hotel was clean with plenty of parking.

Food was very nice, shout out to two member of staff, helpful reception staff and young lad working in the breakfast room.
Hotel has such potential however very very run down, the photos on website dont reflect reality, pool area bubbling paint everywhere with stains, breakfast area dirty with stains on chairs and roof, room had tiny bed, old shower and peeling paint, couldn't open terrace so not natural ventilation.

The pool
The fact the room wasn’t clean
The fact I was given drinks vouchers but the bar isn’t open till 4pm but still waiting for call back from breakfast and it’s 21:12pm

Clean and cozy rooms. Good value for money if you are visiting for the Download Festival
I was charged £15 to check in an hour early, and £5 for washing and drying my clothes, which were still wet after one day.

spa facilities
cleanliness not at all great & modernisation desperately would help along with more staff. The staff seemed misplaced & not readily in front line to man bar etc . Staff seemed jaded . Really didn't appreciate being asked if i wanted the tv on football replying no... to be told it will have to go on . Couldn't even get a coffee at the bar machine was broke . food average prices not average. viewing lift broke. accidently went down fire stairs absolutely disgusting stains on walls & carpet floor/walls s not cleaned off. not a single clean seat at breakfast to sit on really lovely cold breakfast spread/ cooked breakfast pretty average.

Nicely laid out and good facilities. Nice staff.
Some road noise in the room. Slow service on drinks. Beds split into twin very narrow.

Room 120 was amazing and clean my first room was stuffy. Dust on the television. I spoke the reception team. I must say they acted so quickly and gave me an upgraded room in less the two minutes.
The second room was amazing 👏🏿
Food was great. Breakfast first class. All in all bad start but amazing finishing.
First room 317 dusty and stuffy 🤧

Location , spa facilities, dog friendly , spacious room .
Loud music from an event on Sat evening, but I did sleep well!
Sliding doors on to veranda locked and unable to open (room 107) I do like fresh air and often sleep with a window open .
The upstairs communal/reception area was extremely warm . Not a bad fault but using excess energy.

The whole hotel was stunning, beautifully presented, with well dressed staff. The rooms were spacious and big for our little family. The breakfast selection was really good too.
The showers in the rooms need to be regulated more to prevent scolding, there had been a few moments when the water was at a very high temperature. Also, the amount of mirrors in the bathroom are not necessary. Especially for people who are already self-conscious with themselves. :(
There was a lady in the breakfast area who looked like she did not want to be there. body language was poor as was her mannerism!

The lobby was lovely and breakfast was nice
The shower didn’t work at all, cold water. The room was advertised as executive family room, however it was very run down and not worth the money we paid

Bathroom decorations a bit tired and very average shower.

No hot water

Staff were really helpful and always had a smile. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.
No signs in the carpark stating that it was included in the room booking, so we paid for parking, but we did get 2 complimentary drinks to make up for it.

Great staff
Smelt of cigarette smoke upstairs, impregnated in furnishings/carpet? No hot water for shower, the whole place is very tired and needs updating and decorating. Breakfast was good.

Clean & tidy
The bathroom door was rotten, the bath panel was rotten and the shower head would only face the wall.
Although the room was clean and tidy there were parts of the carpet that were threadbare.

This hotel looks lovely upon entering and once upon a time I’m sure it was. Staff were amazing, all so friendly and excellent with our children, you couldn’t get better staff wise.
Sadly it’s dated extremely so. The carpets had a very strong smell of urine on them and with two young toddlers I wasn’t keen for them to be playing on the floor. We paid for two night but checked out after only one. Dogs are allowed and we took ours for £15 extra a night as ours is extremely well behaved and trained. Maybe the rooms have had past accidents in them and carpets not been shampooed as there is a very clear urine smell on them. I even smelt this in the dining area which to my knowledge dogs aren’t even allowed in so unsure what this is.
After breakfast in the morning is over there is no where after this to get a drink as the bar is closed until 4pm. So from 9.30-4pm you can’t even get a drink in this large hotel which seems craziness when people can book for afternoon tea but guest can’t have lunch or drink. This was on a Thursday.
Family room is a great size just needs carpets replaced or a very professional deep clean.
Swimming pool was lovely and warm and we found the pool and changing rooms very clean.
Breakfast was ok, cooked full English or continental (this could have been better not much choice).
Staff in the restaurant were again very helpful and friendly.
Without the staff this hotel would be a no go. Owners need to spend money on here to bring it back to how I’m sure it once was. Looks forgotten and unloved when it a beautiful building just needs some TLC.

The staff were amazing and the spa was lovely. The receptionist in the morning went above and beyond by getting me a coffee when the machine wasn’t working. I think if I would have complained they probably would have moved me rooms but I didn’t want to change incase my partner couldn’t find me
Unfortunately I think they maybe had a damp or drain issue in our room? It smelled kind of funny when we walked in and there were drain flies. Obviously this isn’t an immediately fixable issue but you could tell the hotel had made quite a lot of effort to keep the room clean. It was also a little dated but still probably one of the nicer hotels in derby.

The staff were absolutely atrocious coming in and searching my room saying they had been told I was smoking on the balcony baring in mind the doors wouldn't open to access the balcony what so ever.
The staff. The people. The situation. The accusations

Standard double room was very comfortable, great view, excellent breakfast selection provided, our stay was great and staff were very nice, especially the lady who booked us in.
Bath was stained as if not cleaned properly and we were evacuated in the morning due to fire alarm. Otherwise great stay, will return

The damaged bath surround and badly flaking paintwork in the bathroom. Bathroom decor let the room down.

The mattress was superb, best night's sleep in a hotel for a while. Dinner menu excellent.
The tea at breakfast was self service from a machine with tepid water. The staff at breakfast clearly did not want to be there, chatting amongst themselves, no customer service at all.

Breakfast was fantastic. Staff were lovely and bed was very comfortable.
The spa facilities were one of the reasons for booking. There was nothing to say that the sauna and steam room would be closed during the stay. The pool was cold and in desperate need of a refurbishment.

Convenient for our destination
Noisy road traffic; noise from other guests until 4am; very tired decor; no basics eg shower cap; poor shower- very old, basic facility; staff surly on arrival; no coffee bar Sunday morning; very firm bed

Room wasn’t ask clean as expected . There was a tray with used plates, wine glasses and unfinished food . It was left by previous occupants. We notified reception they said would have it removed . They did not remove until the next day . Also the hotel had issue with water pressure which meant we had extremely hot water and no cold for sometime which did not go down well as we were getting ready for a wedding reception. We asked for bar to be opened as wasn’t and this was at about 2pm in afternoon . General condition of hotel is not good needs to be cleaned throughout and some decorating for be good too .

Offered family room
Staff were rude and unhelpful (in particular at reception).
I had an email confirming an upgrade I’d requested for an early check due to having very young children, not only did I not get this (I was told it shouldn’t have been accepted, even though it was), but the staff were very unapologetic. Room was given to us over an hour late, due to plumbing issues. However, we were told by the engineer that our room did not have issues.
This meant my 3 year old and 6 month old had to sit in the lobby for around 3 hours. The staff did not seem to care or even notice how tired, upset and restless the kids were.
We were offered 1 room to use several hours after arriving, and sitting in the main lobby area to get dressed so we could attend a wedding event, this room was to use and share between around 15/20 guests who were all also waiting for their rooms.
The baby changing facilities in the main reception were disgusting. Other guests who were not a part of our large group (all attending a wedding in the area) seemed to receive preferential treatment, such as being offered a complimentary drink.
The executive family room was dusty and very stuffy. I feel it is in need of a real deep clean.
Breakfast was not great, food had run out and not replaced.
We did receive a discount at checkout, but only after speaking with management and raising concerns.

The staff, in particular Lisa + Emma who accoymadated a early checkin so we could get ready for a wedding venue. Many thanks! I was hesitant after I read negative feedback on trip advisor but it was great/clean/great value & lovely welcoming/accomadating staff 10/10 for a pleasant stay. We will not hesitate to use this hotel again.

Room s we’re nice & nice pool etc location was fine staff were lovely and friendly
The problem we had was dinner we paid up front for the set dinner menu that was £50 the starters were excellent but the main course was not tuff steak and the tikka masala curry was like something out of a packet which I complained about and the hotel gave us 2 free drinks vouchers and apologised only to find out the next morning when I went to settle the drinks bar bill that I had been charged again for the dinner which was an insult to injury they then apologised again and refunded the card I don’t know if we would stay again ?
