Excellent and friendly staff. The room was clean, tidy and the bed comfy. The food was really good, but too much for us to finish all of it.
Perhaps an option of smaller food portions.

I travel to the East Mids once a month for work so the location is perfect for me as it's only a couple of minutes off the A50. This was my first stay at The Lawns and I was so impressed I have booked my stays for the rest of this year. The room was small but very comfortable and clean, plenty of tea, coffee and milk to make drinks. A bath and plenty of piping hot water to have a soak after driving from the North East. Very quiet room even though it's above a pub, I had a great nights sleep. There was a curry special night in the restaurant so I had a very tasty chicken madras and a pint for £9.99, which was definitely value for money. All of the staff were friendly and the continental breakfast was excellent. What more can I say!
Absolutely no complaints at all!

Nothing really.

Good location. Good size room for one night. Breakfast was great value for money.
The noise levels in the room. Could do with upgrading the doors/windows to minimise noise.
Carpark was quite tight.

The staff are quite welcoming and helpful. The rooms appeared reasonably clean. Free onsite car parking was a great help. Breakfast was ok and came included in the booking.
My room was too small. I didn't even have a desk which I needed so that I could do some work in the night. The floor board in the narrow corridor creaked badly and disturbed my sleep. On my second night the music from the bar downstairs filtered to my room which was a bit annoying. The biggest disappointment was discovering a bedbug walking leisurely on the bed before I went to sleep. I called the staff and the man was very apologetic and promised to deal with the problem. I trust that he did as he appeared to be a very genuine person (by the way he doubled as the chef!). He did offer an alternative room which was nice but I dont plan to go back to this hotel any time soon. I did not get value for money on this visit.

Food in the pub is superb

The room was a good size, and had an excellent large bathroom with lots of space to put things and good set of toiletries. It was a very quiet room, looking towards the rear at a church; despite there being a pub downstairs, there was not any problem with noise at all.
The continental breakfast wasn't great; toast cold and flabby, croissants undercooked and pain au chocolate dry. Yoghurt nice.

The food and staff
The bathroom dirty it looks like it needs decoration to freshen it up
The language and noise from customers in the bar were you have to eat very loud

The free WiFi was terrible. It kept cutting out and needed to be signed in again each time.

Our room was over the bar and there was a singer on till late . It sounded like we had a boom box under our pillow . Blind fell on my head in night . We booked breakfast for 8 . Because we had a big competition to go to for quarter to 9 . Our breakfast turned up at 8.35 . So couldn't eat it . We paid 20 for nothing 😔

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very good.
It would have been nice if the ensuite was more spacious.

Very comfortable room. Bath good sized. Breakfast lovely
Slightly further away from city centre than anticipated. Confusing entrance to hotel

Breakfast (in with the price) & evening meal was excellent, rooms clean and bed very comfy
It was very busy as there was a wedding on so noisy outside but it was a lovely place.

Convenient location and easy to find. Very comfortable beds. The staff were extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The meals were lovely with a good menu choice.
As we had some heavy luggage, having a room at the furthest point from the entry made life a bit arduous. I am hoping when we stay again in August, the room is closer to the entrance. Parking can be challenging if there are alot of cars in the car park.

Breakfast is continental and quite good value for money, the room was clean tidy, and comfortable, and dinner good quality food at a fair price.
Bar guests were a little noisy leaving at 11-30 pm

Nothing. This was our 2nd time but there will not be a third now. So I am cancelling my booking for 30th September for 2 nights.
Upon arrival it was busy however we tried booking in but the manager (I think) was asked to book us in by one of the young girls working there, she replied I don't have time to do booking in and proceeded to get 3 menus and take them to customers leaving us standing there. Then a young man tried booking us in telling us we did not have a booking, he couldn't find it on their system. The room we were taken to No. 1, was a good size with a table and chairs to sit at, however it did look very dated, dull not as pictures on websites. There was a wardrobe/built in cupboard which was quite large however the bathroom was so tight - sat on toilet at an angle as the sink was immediately in front of it, and the shower was immediately to the right of it. The shower could be dangerous as you had to step up a tiled ledge before stepping into the shower, you could easily slip and then land against the sink. We did not have breakfast as we had requested continental pastries to be packed up, this was not done and also would not have been able to get at it as you have to come out of the hotel side of the building to go into the pub/restaurant side this does not open until 8am. Saturday night we asked about eating in, it was quite busy, but was told that the kitchen was not taking any more orders at 7.20pm, the kitchen closes at 8pm, to wait a while and try again. Before we could the young man that booked us in, came round to tell us that there was no more meals, even after a group of people who requested food after us got their order taken. My husband said to him that he did not think it was good enough, especially when we were residents (he said are you?) the young man then said my husband to calm down and not to be abusive, which he was not he was just stating the issue (no raised voices just calm complaint).
Our order was then taken, the food was brought out, I had a curry which came with mango chutney, it didn't, naan bread had not been warmed.

Staff where friendly and helpful, Close to where my location was for Donnington park, bar was nice, restaurant was good, room was small but cosy and had tea making facilities, shower was nice and hot and powerful, bed was comfortable, room was nice and clean, good value for money
Couldn’t park in car park as was used by people going to the pub in the evening, a little noise from the pub at night time as room is above the pub, bathroom needs few shelves or unit to put your toiletries in there was nothing to put anything on
