s’Avonds nog iets kunnen drinken
Veel te warme kamers, een v d twee vensters ging dan ook nog niet open, deze was defect.

Pros
Staff were super friendly and helpful with advice about public transport, what to see, where to eat.
Spacious room and bathroom with a good sized bath tub and bath robes was a nice touch.
Excellent breakfast either buffet or al a carte included.
Fairly central location.
Good restaurant in the pub where we had 2 dinners.
Cons
Room decor is a bit dated.
Mattress was past it's use by with buttons able to be felt through the cover. Although this problem was temporarily fixed by flipping the mattress and using a thick doona as an underlay on top of the mattress. Staff said a new mattress would be ordered.

Room was comfortable
Location is quite central

Staff were welcoming, knowledgable and friendly.
The room was absolutely boiling. A Dyson fan of that size is not a suitable fan to provide comfort for guests staying during high temperatures, as it doesn’t reach above the bed, and if placed on a raised surface, it vibrates at a loud volume. There was also no sheet on the bed as an alternative to a duvet. Because of this, I had about 2 hours of sleep.

We loved the location and how beautiful and cosy everything was decorated (the „mad hatter“ from alice in wonderland is the theme here)!
Staff was fun to talk to and breakfast also really comfy. Thanks for us! I definetely recommend this place!

The night I stayed I payed £275, which is £20 cheaper than I have payed at another hotel just around the corner for an extremely basic shoebox of a room, with a retrofitted bathroom and broken heating.
At The Mad Hatter I had a large, nicely decorated room with blackout curtains, big zip-link king size bed, comfy pillows, great shower (AMAZING water pressure which is rare in older buildings), complimentary toiletries, desk/dressing table, Dyson fan (note its an historic property so no aircon), coffee machine, complimentary coffee/tea/chocolates/bottled water, a little bottle of FRESH milk in the fridge AND breakfast included. Unfortunately I didn't have time to partake in the latter but it's good to have it included as the other hotel I mentioned charge £15 extra for breakfast. I've eaten at The Mad Hatter before with colleagues and the food was great so I'm sure they do a decent breakfast!
Location-wise it couldn't be better; right on top of Blackfriars and Southwark stations, meters from Southbank and about 10 mins from Waterloo.
Doors are locked at 11pm but there is a night porter so you just ring the bell, Reception is 24 hours I believe.
Few little niggles were that the room basically looks out on scrubland so you need to keep the blinds down, the bath towels and bathrobes weren't really big enough for me (yet I'm only a UK size 14!), there was no power outlet by the bed to charge my phone overnight, and unfortunately there was a really strong smell of fish in the lobby downstairs which was off-putting on arrival but luckily didn't reach the rooms.
Being a pub it was a little noisy when I first went up to bed but went quiet at closing time so no big issue; if you're in London its unlikely you're in for an early night right!
It was 23 degrees the day I stayed and it was very warm in the room when I arrived but the fan did a fair job cooling it down, only problem was overnight when I couldn't have it on or the windows open. You are in Central London so you get the usual City noises, the windows are pretty good but don't block the sound out completely so pack earplugs if you're sensitive to such things.

Breakfast good
Room had all facilities - hairdryer, dressing gowns, ironing board etc. but needed a bit of an update - Bathroom a bit tired ( although very clean).

Kleinschalig hotel in laagbouw
Toen we s avonds terug in het hotel kwamen hing er steeds een sterke geur van gebakken vis. Aan de receptie en in de traphal rook dit echt onaangenaam

Friendly and welcoming staff.
Great location for south bank and Borough Market
good breakfast and Sunday Roast.

The breakfast was superb! A variety of good food in addition to hot meals from the menu--all included with our room payment! The beds were comfortable, and the towel warmer was an unexpected treat. The location was close to restaurants and Borough Market. I would highly recommend The Mad Hatter to anyone.
My only concern was the toilet--there should be directions on how to flush it.

Great location, excellent sized room, nice touches such as complimentary refreshments in the fridge, delicious breakfast and super friendly staff.
Perhaps turn the heating down a bit as it was very warm, even though it was chilly outside.

We liked the helpfulness of the staff and particularly the little surprise on my son's bed (balloons and party decoration with a little hat) it was his birthday :)
The breakfast is also nice, we liked the place and the fact that the orange juice is fresh makes a difference.

Well located, front desk (especially Luke and Gabby) staff were wonderful with local transportation information, good breakfast with friendly wait staff.
Florist delivered star gazer lilies to the hotel bar and restaurant area which many people are allergic to (including my wife). Hospitals and most hotels in the US don’t allow them. Hopefully the hotel will learn from the experience and instruct their florist not to use them again in a hotel.

The location of the hotel was amazing! Close to a train station and an underground station. The breakfast was also super yummy with lots of options.
Obviously due to the (amazing) central location it meant the hotel was on a busy road so you could hear the traffic all night. And combined with the poorly insulated windows it can be really disruptive. I didn't sleep for the first 3 nights. The bed was also a bit hard but that is personal preference.

excellent, very well appointed room, delicious breakfast
traffic noise
