Room, location and friendly staff made it a memorable stay. Help with luggage on the steep staircase was necessary for us and very willingly given.
One small thing - the shower was a mixer tap on the bath, but there was no shower screen or curtain so we found showering quite difficult without soaking the whole bathroom! The hot water supply was good and we could have used the bath itself, but after a certain age getting out of a bath is a manoeuvre best avoided!!

The breakfast was excellent, everything cooked to perfection
Parking is a problem, everywhere suggested by staff was full on arrival so it took us some time to find somewhere. Everywhere requires you to renew your payment early next morning, so not relaxing really.

The property is in an amazing location - super central with everything on your doorstep! The view of the cathedral from our bedroom was stunning and made our trip! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and helped to make our stay extra special!

The location was great in the historical centre of Wells, our room overlooked the green and had a beautiful view of the cathedral. The room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. Staff were pleasant and helpful with local knowledge. We didn't eat breakfast but did enjoy a lovely dinner in the restaurant.

Wonderful old and quirky building and amazing location, so quiet
We were sad the restaurant was closed so no delicious Italian dinner and no breakfast but we were given good suggestions for both meals.

Lovely view of the cathedral from the room and surprisingly spacious.

very comfy bed.
The stairs to the room were difficult to navigate as they were thin because the room was in the eves. The blind did not fully close so light came into the room early.

it was exciting to be staying in such an historic building which we have often admired
We had been looking forward to staying in room 3 which we had ben advised would be our room, particularly as this rom has a celebrated view to the cathedral and is on the back [quieter] side of the building, but found other guests already installed in that room when we arrived...
We found it astonishing that an establishment purporting to be a 3* hotel has no-one in reception after 18.00h Having been told this was the case, we brought forward our arrival so that we could arrive when someone was on duty. But....
Arriving at 17.30h we found the building in complet darkness and had to juggle mobile phone torches to be able to open the key press to extract our key.
Eventually, by trial and error we found the key we had been given seemd to fit room2 [ on the road side of the building with no view, and, after telephoning agreed to settle in there.
The following morning , I was challenged by the receptionist who showed no concern for the welfare of her guests but was very self- justifying saying it would not happen again!
With both the coffee machine and, later the card/cash machine out of orde, too, the atmosphere was such that we were very pleased to leave!

Suberb view overlooking Wells cathedral. The bed was comfortable, the room was warm, clean bathroom, the shower powerful with lots of hot water, good quality towels, the staff were helpful and friendly.
The blind in the bedroom was broken, the toilet seat was loose, the hook on the back of the bathroom door was hanging off. The armchair was uncomfortable with bad scrape marks on the wall behind it. The soap dispenser, toilet roll holder and towel ring were badly positioned.

This is a regular place we stay at and have completed several stays here. Very close to the market in the square on a Saturday. Staff always very friendly, accommodating and the food is expensive but it's what you expect to pay now and good quality.
