I asked for a twin because my daughter was supposed to come with me. Plenty of room in a well appointed room. Bed was comfy and the room temperature just right. Breakfast was really good, I took it in the library and this room was delightful. It was great being in a building that I had walked past many times in my life when I lived in Reading. So easy to walk to and from the railway station without concern being stuck in traffic. Excellent value for money, next time I will try their restaurant for an evening meal.
Bottom of the bath a little slippy, it had inbuilt grips but they were a bit worn. I expect I could have asked for a bath mat if I was staying beyond my first night.

Clean modern hotel with friendly staff. Good food in the restaurant.
3.7
Decent location, comfy bed, good shower pressure.
Close to good restaurants but also near a noisy road.
When I "checked in" (which involved going into the bar and trying to get someone's attention), I was given very little information. I then received a phone call at 10pm asking me why I hadn't checked in, and the next morning I couldn't leave by the door I had been told to use. I had to phone the hotel to be told there was a different set of stairs, which was not signposted.
No breakfast option

Great location.
Very comfortable bed
Plenty of hot water
The room was very tired. Handles missing from drawers, chipped bath with black mould behind taps, broken coat hanger fittings held together with sellotape but still didn’t work;

The room was small and simple but clean and comfortable. Single bed, but with two pillows - good! Spotless bedding (duvet). Very nice bathroom, shower worked well. Fan and radiator provided for every weather. Open window, light-excluding curtains. The bar and restaurant area has been extensively refurbished (new management) and is very flash, but they have kept the library - a lovely idea. The food in the restaurant was very good and I was given 20% off because I was staying there. But the hotel is very close to many restaurants along the canal and in central Reading.
The room overlooked an outdoor gathering area - perhaps it was the smoking area for the bar downstairs - but I could hear every conversation into the night! But I have stayed here before and the rooms on the other side do not suffer from this. I was sorry that they had discontinued breakfast. Be aware that there is no lift and the rooms are upstairs.

Exceeded our expectations. Bar / restaurant area very good .
Possibly a better mattress on bed . But that’s a personal opinion.

The location is great! Very central to everything. Tea, coffee, biscuits and bottles of water all supplied. Ok for a one night stay .
The room was extremely basic. The bathroom was much the same! The hairdryer was ancient! And no anti slip mat for the shower. The only toiletries supplied were soap and body wash. We couldn't get the TV to work!

Bar area was really nice and staff were very friendly! The location was great! We were given a voucher for 20% off food too!
The room itself was a bit dated and the water took a while to heat up.

There is a beautiful bar, restaurant and library space in the hotel (but we didn't stay for breakfast). The staff was very helpful throughout. The room itself was spacious but strangely furnished.
Note: there was no lift in the hotel, and stairs were steep and somewhat complicated. The room was difficult to ventilate, especially during warm weather. The hotel provided a fan but that helped only a little.
3.7
Great location. Very reasonable price.
Tired room, although that is reflected in the price and the rooms are due to be updated. No TV which was odd.
3.7
Nothing really bit tacky
Thin walls, loud guest vomitting all night. Tacky rooms etc

Great location with parking just around the corner. The hotel offered a voucher to get reduced parking costs, which was nice. Friendly staff and helpful.
Hot water takes a long time to come through.

Bar area is lovely and location is nice and central. Staff were friendly.
Rooms need an urgent refurb, dirty shower curtain and stained carpet, decor very dated. Walls are also REALLY thin, could hear the person next door snoring all night!

Nice staff. Excellent breakfast.

A Friday night disco with cover versions of 80s music. This took place in the basement and funnelled up the beautiful newly exposed and renovated spiral staircase to drive guests insane till the early hours.

the restaurant is lovy and very ckean

everything
bath needs hand rail to steady yourself in and out shower

I had to look for another hotel because the conditions were bad. When I complained, I got my money back. They were honest and apologised for the situation. WIFI and heating was good.
The hotel was under renovation and there was no information on booking.com about this. Many services were closed and the reception was never staffed. The room was dirty: carpet very old, bathroom with stains. Bed very noisy.
