While Costa Rica does have many of the conveniences you are accustomed to having at home, navigating a foreign country can feel a bit tricky. For that reason, we’re here to help curate your experience and itinerary to be the best it can be. From booking surf lessons and ATV tours to arranging your rental car or shuttle, to organizing your private chef and massages, we’re here for you.
Security
Nosara is absolutely a wonderful community and we can't wait to share all the good things that it has to offer. We care a great deal about our clients and for that reason, we also want to make you aware of one of the véry few downsides to Nosara: petty theft (they usually are out for your cash and your belongings as in any other tourism area). We would like to understand the dynamics of the group, so we can take care of you, put you in the right house and downsize the chance of you having any issues with this. Please feel free to inquire for more information. If not included, the property manager can arrange a dinner guard at an additional cost. The guest is responsible for securing and protecting their personal belongings and valuables left in and around the Property and for ensuring that all security features available are enabled every time they leave the Property.
Internet and Electricity
In the jungle, the utility infrastructure is unpredictable. There may be power, phone, and/or internet outages and interruptions in service. The Guest should not leave electronics plugged in during rainstorms. There is no guarantee that the Internet will always work. We have an excellent mobile phone signal with Kolbi and data rates are very reasonable. If internet access is always crucial, we encourage you to bring an unlocked phone and get a Kolbi SIM card. Please note that the Homeowner nor the Property Manager has no control over these situations and no refunds or discounts will be offered for outages or interruptions to these services. If there's any problem with the Property, please report it to the Property Manager.
Water
During the dry season months of December through April, the Property may have low water pressure due to temporary or scheduled water outages. This Property has a water reserve tank for Guests during water outages. We will do our best to notify Guests of any interruptions in water service or regularly scheduled water shut-offs.
Jungle creatures
We make every effort to present a well-cleaned home for your arrival. However, it is a jungle out there and nature can move in at any time. The Homeowners and Property Manager are not responsible for the fumigation or removal of insects that may enter the Property during the Guest's stay. Even though the house is regularly fumigated on a maintenance schedule, expect to see ants, beetles, spiders, and other assorted insects year-round. Bugs are especially active during the rainy season, May through November. Every effort is made to present a clean home at Check-In. To minimize the impact of bugs on your vacation, please keep food wrapped, store it in the refrigerator, clean kitchen counters and screen doors closed at all times (particularly at night).
Refunds
No refunds will be given for natural disasters, water outages, internet outages, security breaches, personal property losses, or nearby construction noise. This area is a rapidly growing community. There is no guarantee there will not be construction nearby.
Insurance
We encourage all Guests to purchase Traveler Insurance in case of unforeseen circumstances, accidents, or other issues that may prohibit Guests from travelling or fulfilling Rental terms.

We loved this property. Norma and our security at night were so kind. The beach, view, and house were perfect for the last half of our CR trip. Highly recommend.

We loved everything about the trip. The location allowed us to completely unplug and enjoy the vacation. A high was Norma, the woman who comes and cleans up and can make meals. He cooking was wonderful and allowed us to enjoy all the unique flavors of Costa Rica.

Our stay was a dream come true.
The pool nestled under a canopy of tropical trees offered the perfect retreat. With high tides reaching right up to the edge of the driveway and low tides revealing rock pools, each day brought new experiences. We even had the pleasure of spotting what seemed like tiny dinosaurs (two giant iguanas!), along with a plethora of birds and crabs. The rental included a thoughtful array of services - from a diligent housekeeper and pool cleaner to attentive night security, ensuring a worry-free stay. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the hosts' swift responses made us feel truly cared for. Every staff member exuded warmth and helpfulness. The well-equipped kitchen made whipping up home-cooked meals a breeze.
It was an unforgettable getaway made possible by exceptional hospitality.
Can't wait to return!

My family and I stayed at this great "house" for a little over a week. When you first arrive, you do need to drive on the beach for a bit. But after the drive from Liberia (give yourself 3 hrs) the drive to the house was fitting....and pretty fun. First thing first. The house does have a security system, with many outdoor cameras and a keypad to set at night. Along with a guard that stays at the house from 5pm-5am. So, we felt very safe and secure. The outdoor space at the "house" was amazing. With greats views of the ocean right from your rocker! The beach is also a gem. In front of the house has some rocks in the ocean but walk about 50 ft to the right or left and you have and amazing beach to play in! The waves are great for playing in but just remember, the riptide is fairly strong so if you have small kids or are not at least a good swimmer you might want to keep that in mind. Me and my kids spend many hours playing in the waves, and we never felt in danger. To top it off, the waves for surfing are great! We were visited 3 times by a troop of howler monkeys so that was another highlight. Nosara was a little to "cool" for my tastes but that is because I am not a huge fan of people, and there are a lot of people in Nosara! We did find a bakery that we visited at least 3 times for an afternoon snack, so finding food and shops will not be a problem. The whole general area is very cool, with an awesome jungle vibe and a crazy, twisty road. A Great Spot. Pura Vida!!!

Great location, nice property

We arrived for our stay and were in love with the property however there were a few things that were not transparent at all.
I do want to start with the positive aspects.
Norma the house keeper was incredible. The location and pool were fantastic. We found a lot of peace and relaxation until the attempted break ins.
We were informed that there was an alarm and the instructions said to set it when we leave and when we are in for sleep. THERE WAS NO ALARM.
We were told we would have security and that was definitely not true. From 5-9pm a young kid would come and sit around with no weapons or security like things.
To be clear the property is four separate rooms like a motel with a comunal kitchen.
The break in attempt on our room happened at 2am and at 4am.
Francesca the concierge did call the police, but it took 30 min for arrival. After they left there was a second attempt. They did steal my wifes flip flops outside.
Francesca was great and called a local REAL security gaurd over while we packed snd left the property at 5:30am. We went to a hotel. They did refund us 2 nights.
My takeaway is:
Needs a real armed security from 5pm-5am
Needs cameras and security system in place
Beautiful spot though.
It is 25 min from town or police.

We had a fantastic time at this open-air home right on the beach in Nosara during the rainy season. This was our first trip to Costa Rica and did not know what to expect. The pool was refreshing and cleaned often. The beach was wide at low tide and water was warm. The living area was completely covered and there was plenty of seating for our group of 7. We saw lots of wildlife right from house. Norma cooked wonderful lunches and breakfasts for us and Jordan was a great watchman who really looked after us. There were a lot of bugs, so bring Off! We thought this was an exceptionally well-priced vacation home right on the beach--that was fun and adventurous. The property managers were super helpful before, during, and after our trip. We give them a 10 out of 10!

This house was more than we could have ever imagined. It was perfect. My husband and I stayed here for our 20th anniversary. If you want an authentic Costa Rican experience stay here! It was right on the beach. The beach was mostly locals. You have to drive on the beach a short bit to get into the house which was awesome. The house is all outside except the bedrooms. Master was very comfortable and cool. Norma was wonderful. She cleaned, cooked us breakfast a couple of mornings etc. They also send a guard from 5:30-9:30 while you are likely away watching the sunset or eating dinner. The pool was refreshing and the beach great for swimming. There are rocks at the beach right in front of the house, but a few Sandy openings really close you can walk to and swim in. We loved all the dogs that came to visit. If you’re looking for authentic more local experience in a nice house on the beach. You’ve found it. I can’t wait to come back and bring the family. You have to at minimum rent a 4x4 truck to stay here as you’re about 12-15 minutes South of the restaurants/ stores. We also rented ATVs. Highly recommend!!!!!

Fantastic view right on the ocean, swimming available right there in ocean waves. Close proximity to Nosara/Playa Guiones stores and restaurants. Vacation management organized everything from taxis to ATV’s, private chef, and any issues. Cleaning is done daily and nightly security, everyone is very friendly. Wonderful stay.

Great house located right on Playa Guiones. You do actually have to drive on the beach to get to the house which was a little off putting at first. Otherwise, lovely place to stay.

A unique gem of a location, ruined by lack of attention to the home. This home needs serious cleaning and maintenance.
AC in 4th bedroom never worked during our stay. It was about 90 degrees in the 4th bedroom. We ended up having a family of 8 crammed into 3 bedrooms, with two teenagers sleeping on the floor with the bugs (and they knew we had 8 ppl).
Surfing Nosara did try to rectify the AC. The second day we knew the 4th bedroom needed a new AC unit and that Surfing Nosara needed owner approval to replace it. The owners obviously never gave approval, and we went our entire stay without the 4th bedroom.
The pool only functioned properly one day during our stay. It is a freshwater infinity pool. It needs to be filled to the infinity line to keep the water flowing and clean. On all days but one it was far below the infinity line, which resulted in dirty stagnant water. Again, surfing Nosara did try by sending the pool attendant, but it didn't help.
The refrigerator never kept temperature. It was up to 70 degrees F on our first day. Surfing Nosara said they'd send a maintenance guy out but they didn't come. We had the AC guy look at it and he said the motor and fan were filthy. He cleaned them and it did help, but it still struggled to keep temp. Also the right door was unattached at the bottom and falling off the fridge.
Any reasonable walk through before our arrival would have revealed the AC wasn't working, the pool wasn't filled enough and the fridge was severely struggling.
I won't complain about the bugs and lack of water because we were clearly forewarned. Just plan on having bugs everywhere, and no more than a trickle of water. When we left we were on our 20th hour without a drop of water. Surfing Nosara did bring a couple 5-gallon jugs of water to get us through the extended outage.
The main living area is outside as advertised. The problem is that there is only uncomfortable outdoor furniture, some is starting to decay. It was hard to get comfortable during the day.
The positives: Amazing unique natural location. Honestly a unique gem. Surfing Nosara was responsive and did help a lot (unfortunately the owners don't seem to care enough to provide what is needed). Norma the maid is wonderful. She was helpful with working under jungle constraints and managing the lack of water. Beds are very comfortable.
Shockingly with all the issues, we were offered nothing to compensate, not even an apology.

Amazing experience
Incredible property and location. Norma, the housekeeper was amazing. Surfing Nosara helped me to coordinate everything we wanted to do or needed. *bring bug spray and the stairs to the kids room were a bit steep if you have really small ones. Definitely recommend renting a car if you stay here. We opted for security overnight but never felt unsafe

Great experience in every aspect
The house is in the perfect location steps away from the surf. It is one of the few houses right on the beach in Nosara. The area is not very built up, nature abounds... we had visits from all types of insects, monkeys, armadillos, song birds, vultures, hawks, tarantulas, scorpions, and lots of friendly local dogs passing through.
The housekeeper/cook Norma made fantastic breakfasts and
either lunch or dinner meals every day with local ingredients. At first we did not understand how it worked with her, but eventually we learned that Norma is paid by the owners and we were just to tip her at the end of our stay. My wife went together with Norma to the grocery store to buy food for our stay, that worked out well with Norma planning the menus.
The concierge service from Nosara Surfing made a huge difference. They were always available on Whats App and answered all our questions, reserved tours, provided restaurant recommendations, covid tests, etc. Really outstanding support - especially as we don't speak Spanish.
We loved the house with its the outdoor living room area. Never felt like we needed to be inside. The pool is not heated, but was refreshingly cool. The kitchen is fully equipped. Could use a new coffee maker. The bedrooms all well-furnished with good air conditioning and screens on windows, great to hear the waves at night. Only problem we had with the rooms was a bad smell from one of the shower drains. The service immediately sent someone to clean the drain and provided a fan to circulate fresh air.
One of our best vacations ever, can highly recommend staying at Casa Sol y luna!

Great Property with an Incredible Location
Our stay was absolutely amazing. The house is in a quiet location right on the beach. The outdoor floor plan lends itself perfectly to the Nosara atmosphere.
Norma is a great addition included with the property. She arrives in the morning and stays through mid afternoon to tidy up. Bring groceries and she'll be happy to cook breakfast and lunch each day of your stay. Our biggest regret was not getting the ingredients for her to make ceviche.
While perhaps the closest true beachfront house to Nosara, it remains a bit of a hike to get into town. Plan on using ATV's, a dune buggy, or a car to get back and forth, a golf cart will not do. Driving on the beach is required to access the property and is permitted to the south, however it is prohibited to the north.
The staff at Surfing Nosara (the property's management company) were very warm, helpful, and easy to communicate with throughout our stay. I do plan to return to Nosara and would love to stay at this property or with another managed by Surfing Nosara again.

A gem of a beach house
Sol y La Luna was perfect us. Right on the beach but a bit off the beaten track. There were some issues with hot water and the water supply but management was helpful in resolving them. There is a fabulous, well appointed kitchen which opens on to an amazing outdoor living space. We were extremely close to nature with howler monkeys in the trees and unbeatable sun sets. Norma kept the place beautifully cleaned and at our request cooked some lovely locally inspired home cooked meals for us, which we heated up at our leisure. The pool was beautiful and clean and there was something magical about enjoying a drink on the built in pool stools looking out through the palm trees at the beautiful ocean where we had been body surfing shortly before. In a word Sol y La Luna was delightful and the management was very attentive.

INCREDIBLE, remote and peaceful!
If you are looking for a remote getaway, this is the place! The house was perfect for just my husband and me. There is a WONDEFUL DOG named Cinnamon who lives here and she is so sweet. Most importantly, when anyone approaches the house she barks, which gave me a feeling of security and safety. Please feed here while you are here!
Norma came everyday and make us an incredible breakfast and even cleaned the house. She was kind, respectful and quiet. I was so grateful to have her. It make all the difference.
The house is right on the beach and the sound of the waves and ocean breeze were magnificent. We have traveled all over the world and this was one of my favorite trips!

Dream in Nosara
From the moment we turned left on the beach we were amazed. The view and proximity to the ocean was like nothing we had ever experienced before. Jody, our driver, was incredibly friendly, helpful, and adorable. We requested him the entire trip and he helped us make arrangements and gave us wonderful suggestions.
Norma, the housekeeper, comes everyday to make sure the property is fresh.
Please be aware of the any sweet stray dogs in Nosara as there are many and treat them kindly. If you love nature and animals and a view for days...this is the place

Feeling Refreshed
We spent 10 days at this home and it was just what we needed to unplug and relax. Waking up each day to the sounds of the waves was a special treat. Norma made us the most delightful meals and took very good care of us - we will miss her.

The perfect family home
I recently stayed at Casa Sol y Luna with my family. The house is amazing. A new remodel, excellent staff to help with all your needs and of course the natural beauty of Costa Rica. I have been traveling through Costa Rica off and on for almost 20 years and this home / location is perfect for any family/ families, group of friends or a romantic get away. Fresh fish, fruit, horseback rides on the beach, yoga and surfable waves all around. If you are thinking of staying on the Nicoya Peninsula, this is your spot. I have stayed here numerous times and it is with out fail, always amazing. There are not many homes like this one in Costa Rica. Treat yourself and your family to unforgettable memories.

Very nice house right in front of the beach
We (two couples) stayed there for 10 days in Dec 2018. The house is beautiful, but the house lacks a safety deposit box, comfortable beds (in some rooms), and adequate water pressure in some baths. There are two bedrooms with bathrooms inside. The third bedroom has a bathroom behind the house. There is a fourth bedroom with bunkbeds but no A/C upstairs. There were ants and spiders inside all rooms. Good pest control products would prevent that. There are no TVs. No air conditioned common area. This forces people to interact outside (nice), but the mosquitos are aggressive at dusk. The architecture is nice and new. The swimming pool has jets, but it is a bit cold. The view of the ocean from the common area is amazing. There is a neighboring house on one side, and an empty lot on the other side. Behind the house there is just a mountain. The beach, especially during low tide, is perfect for swimming. There are pools between volcanic rock and the sand (ideal for kids). Perfect sunsets every day. The maid is very nice and cooks very well. We tipped her on the way in, and again on the way out. She is very sweet. The pool guy is not nice. He does little work and just hangs out around the property. Our security guards were also very nice. Especially Vincent, the owner of the security company. We found Pura Vida Mgmt to not be very helpful. A lot of what they told me (in Spanish) ahead of my visit wasn't true. I don't give the stay four solid stars as we had a security incident on our second night at 2:00 AM. An SUV drove into our garage and called a second car into the property. We called the police and the emergency number for Pura Vida Mgmt. Police never came. Security showed up 1hr later. We felt scared and hopeless. I was assured that most crime in Costa Rica is non-confrontational and non-violent and usually happens when people go out to dinner (most theft is electronics like cameras, tablets, phones, etc.) I would advise you to get security between 11 PM and 5 AM so that you can sleep. During the day it feels super safe. You see older American ladies walking on the beach by themselves. So if something happens, call the security company directly. Pura Vida was managing the property and they dared to ask me for the house address during the emergency. I gave the coordinates that they provided me. If I ever go back to CR, it will be a regular gated hotel. Security is king when you're trying to relax.
