There was plenty of it but all bread & carbs

Lovely breakfast and great room, looked newly refurbished with stylish decor .
Slightly noisy from people above the room , however , we slept well and it didn’t spoil our stay .

We booked late on Friday evening for accommodation the same night. We were able to book accommodation with our dog for an additional charge of £25. Jo was very pleasant, offering to ring the local pub for us to ask them to keep the kitchen open as it was after 9pm. Our dog was treated well, with plenty of strokes and treats. Also, my vegan diet was accommodated at short notice.

Lovely room, comfy bed, quiet setting and friendly owners.

Pleasant room. Very clean. Nice continental style breakfast
We prefer rooms with a bath. The host charged the highest fee I've ever paid for our dog to stay but provided no dog bed or bowl.

Lovely host
Nice smart room
Breakfast was delicious yoghurt and cerial but pastries only supermarket type. Very filling breakfast but only ok.

Quant rooms in a lovely little village. Although the Matilda is no longer operating as a pub/ restaurant this did not spoil our stay. The rooms are spotlessly clean, good decor and well maintained. Host Jo was brilliant , continental breakfast very good . Would definitely recommend the Matilda 👍
Nothing to didlike

Very friendly, delicious breakfast, beautiful room.
Breakfast period could have been longer.

The lady owner was extremely helpful and carried my case as I had a painful ankle, helped with the smart TV and even provided hot chocolate, I felt like a house guest. The breakfast was excellent.

Excellent place....BUT .... The name is misleading.. The owners are in the process of changing the name. The inn itself has closed BUT.... there are rooms, which are lovely and are being let as the business model morphs into more of a Queen Matilda Rooms (this is my title for it...I do not know what it will actually be). We shall definitely return.
Welcoming , friendly, helpful hosts. Everything was pristine and felt fresh. Little things like the quality of the sheets make a satisfying difference. Breakfast is continental here. It was tasty, including homemade preserves. Options for meals at other times include a popular pub just along the road in the village. We chose The Ragged Cot in Minchinhampton. It was a fine choice.

What an amazing place!! The room was absolutely perfect, the staff were super friendly and the town the hotel was situated in is the cutest little town I have ever been. I will definitely be going back to explore the town some more as my stay was only short, but I will 100% be staying at this hotel when I return. The staff even went out of their way to pack me and my partner a breakfast bag to take away with us as we missed breakfast. They went above and beyond to make our stay special. Over the moon with the customer service provided. Thank you Jo 🙂 x
Absolutely nothing. Everything was perfect.

We’d have liked the option of a cooked breakfast before going out walking for the day.

We really enjoyed our short stay at the Queen Matilda, such a lovely room with en-suite! Very clean and well presented. The continental breakfast was also very nice, good options and enough to get you ready for the day.

Excellent location in friendly village , within easy reach of local attractions. Bedrooms fitted out very well, super clean , simply furnished with character. Jo was excellent host, sending email beforehand as welcome. Good continental breakfast , plenty of choice . The. Local pub , the Bell, hosts Indian cuisine excellent choice of food. Real local feel.
I prefer a cooked breakfast when I'm away but that is a small matter. The bedrooms are up a floor with outside stars so be mindful if you would struggle with access. I think there may be a ground floor room available as well. I was disappointed it wasn't a country inn as the name suggested. but jo the host explained the situation.

We stayed for one night for a wedding and the staff were super helpful from the get go. We needed to sort taxis which they sent us a long list for. It snowed loads overnight unexpectedly so we got snowed in and the hotel was so so accommodating. They let us wait out the roads clearing, past our check out time and even helped push out car out the car park. The breakfast was lovely and we ended up staying for lunch in the pub and the food was delicious! Amazing roasts and the burger was one of the best I've had. 10/10 and will definitely love to come again.

Went above and beyond to help us in a difficult situation. Great food, ambiance and service. Highly recommended.

The name.. why was the pub named after a little heard of English Queen ?
Well they are renovating at the moment - specifically the windows are being replaced: so this morning the first frosty morning of the year the dining room was a bit chilly… but am sure this won’t be an issue once the windows are all in.
4.7
large room - comfy bed- very clean - staff / owners very attentive - hairdryer/ tea facilities / basic toiletries provided - good cooked breakfast and cereal - bar area very nice and food looked good though we didn’t eat here
fixed time for breakfast 8-9 was a bit early for a weekend

We had a fantastic two night stay at The Queen Matilda along with some friends.
The rooms were very comfortable and we slept extremely well.
The food was amazing - we ate dinner at the QM on both nights as, after the lovely food on the first night, we really wanted to have another go at the menu. The breakfasts were also brilliant.
The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive, and James and Jo as hosts made us feel really welcome. I would definitely stay again.
4.7
lovely atmosphere of room, smart country decor, modern smart bathroom
4.7
clean , breakfast made fresh
Disappointment that it was not made clear until I read reviews of weekday closure , at the end of a long rainy day we were looking forward to a drink by the fire .
Limited outside lighting on arrival made for a disappointing start .
Bed and room small , having to walk outside and down some stairs in the rain to get to breakfast room.
No pastries available at breakfast .
