This is the most beautiful Georgian house in acres and acres of picturesque parkland. The feature that made our stay so special, however, was the wonderful treatment by staff. They went out of their way wherever possible to make our days comfortable, even learning the dog’s name and remembering just what drinks we have for breakfast before ordering. Superlative service!

We were lucky to visit on a quite summer day and found the place wonderfully relaxing. It combines an elegant architecture of Italian inspiration with a quintessentially romantic English landscape. The rather classic interiors may at first sight recall the uptight atmosphere of a gentlemen's club but the staff could not be more friendly and welcoming which results in a pleasurable experience even for a family with children. To top it all, the food served at breakfast and dinner at the restaurant in the beautiful "orangerie" is of the highest quality, at a very reasonable price. One final remark: in case you like travelling by train, and only have a small bag or backpack with you, the most wonderful experience is reaching the hotel on foot from Buxted station via the footpath that crosses the deer park, veers around the lakes and then climbs up to reach the hotel from the garden side... (it is only a 15min walk overall).

Property not too far from Glyndebourne, nice walk in the surrounding park.
Very old fashioned property, awful decoration and carpeting, tiny room (although very quiet as requested and a good thing too as there was a wedding in the hotel.) Not particularly welcoming as everyone was clearly focused on wedding and some other function. As we were neither we had to be relegated to some empty room for breakfast. Harried waiter trying his best to make it happen.

Location is fine - food was good - reception was fine
The rooms in my mind really need an update and the bathroom is tiny - the rooms were the same when we stayed 15 years ago. We felt that the rate was high in relation to the room and to similar hotels we have stayed in

The staff were great and the surroundings were superb
The room was on par with a travel lodge and very small. To charge £360 was a cheek. Compared to other places this hotel is miles behind. The rooms are very tired and in need of updating. The breakfast is served school dinner style whereby you queue. The majority of it was cold and not the best quality. We had no service and when someone finally did come to the table and ask if we wanted toast. We'd finish. Again, not a £360 a night hotel experience.

All she add were welcoming & helpful from Reception to the restaurant. Beautiful location & comfortable room. Great choice at breakfast.
Would have liked some milk in the room for our tea. Food & wine a little expensive for dinner..eg starter of cold duck breast a little meagre for price.

Location very nice. First two days of stay very good then everything went downhill, the reason a midweek wedding. Other guests not shown any respect. Breakfasts were terrible as was the service. .
I would have liked the hotel to consult with other guests that a wedding would cause problems and then cancelling would have been an option.

Location
Exit from the shower was split on two levels, dangerous.
Shower head and towel rail holding on by one loose screw.
Little or no accountability on final invoice, I seem to have been double billed for some bar purchases.
5.0 / 10.0
The friendliness of the staff.
Despite the beauty of location & the (old part) of the house, he indoor look (furniture, interior decoration &c. ) is dowdy & corporate banal - shame & such a missed opportunity!
