- The hotel is very beautiful
- There is a Seven Eleven nearby, and a very nice independent matcha / dessert place
- Service is very poor. Staff poorly trained for a 5 star hotel of this price tag. Seemed well intentioned but were robotic, stuck to inflexible hotel policies and interacted like they were working in a call center. Examples:
- Were very pushy at check in to know when we would be out of our room the next day for 3 hours so the room could be cleaned, even though we kept saying we didn’t know yet (never experienced this before). End up with no cleaning or fresh towels despite 3 night stay.
- At dinner on the first night, after only 1 hour they asked us if we could vacate the restaurant and eat the dessert we had just ordered in the lounge area, as they had another booking arriving in 20 mins (we of course refused this ridiculous request and finished our desserts quickly when they arrived, leaving plenty of time for the next sitting)
- When we called the hotel asking if they could kindly book us a taxi when we got we stuck in a neighbouring area and my wife was feeling unwell and were struggling to find a way home, they just said “very sorry, we don’t do this”. Whilst I understand this may be their hotel policy, they could at least have told us what taxi number to call or asked if they could offer us any guidance. I think any 2* or 3* hotel would have shown this common sense or level of care, never mind a 5*.
- Hotel was noisy. Could hear everything on neighbouring rooms, and they provided everyone with wooden slippers, despite all the rooms having wooden floors
- No secure area to store bags. The (v small) hotel lobby in front of the lifts was there constantly full of large suitcases which were not secure.
- Location is terrible. Far from Gora village (which is like a ghost town anyway). Would recommend staying in Hakone town instead

Very nice and modern hotel. Super clean with free access to hotel onsen and sauna area. Perfectly equipped rooms, including coffee machine. Delicious breakfast. Also modern fitness space with TechGym equipment.
Nothing

Beautiful hotel in a scenic spot. A little out of the buzz, but shuttle bus complementary to town centre.
Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Wonderful, peaceful stay for a couple of nights away from the hustle and bustle of Japan. Easy town to see Mt Fuji too

The food was excellent. It is more slanted towards "western" tastes than the food at the many ryokans that we had been staying at, but as our stay was at the end of our two-week trip and a change from what we had been eating, it was actually welcome as re-entry. We are walkers and did not use the shuttle bus, but having it available would be perfect for many. The museums in the area are quite wonderful and well worth visiting. The roo
The hotel could do a significantly better job having maps and pamphlets in English available for those who want to explore. We did all right, but it was only because we did our research on the web from our room. The arrangements for the public bath is not "normal" for Japan, but it is OK because of the private bath in the room. We were on the river side with a great view, and I doubt it would have been as nice if we had been on the uphill side.

Beautifully designed hotel by the river, spacious and comfortable room
The dinner at the hotel’s restaurant was disappointing, the food wasn’t of the expected quality
4.3
The room was amazing so big, we had a water view with private onsen, the included dinner was good and the breakfast amazing. The staff treated the guests so well with welcome drinks and snacks while we waited to check in even though we were early, really helpful at calling taxis and helping with transport
It cost more than I would normally pay for accommodation but it was worth it

Loved the private onsen on your own balcony overlooking the river and hills. The quality of the steak in the restaurant was very good. Breakfast was also good.

Loved the modern look and feel, everything felt luxurious yet casual! Service was impeccable and we really enjoyed the family onsen as well as our own private outdoor bath tub.
Location was far from Gora but no issues with the complimentary shuttle which was great. Meals were expensive so we found local joints to eat at instead of dining in.

The hotel service and its staff provides a professional and very courtesies service. The twin suite room was spacious and large. The in room private hot spring also amazing. Western breakfast was ok. Mr. Kaito from F&B was very helpful and extremely nice during breakfast. Shuttle bus from and to Odawara station provides by the hotel also ver convenience. Overall this hotel provides a luxury and best hospitality services.
None.

Room was modern and clean. In room onsen was really nice and enjoyable. Staff was kind and helpful. I rented a car and free parking was great.
My aunt fell down and hurt her knee, just a small stretch. Staff was helpful by giving us antiseptic spray, a few bandaids, and a small bandage. I think it would be really helpful to have a full-geared First Aid Kit in the hotel if something like this happens again to other customers.

Friendly staff, spacious room, facilities such as the outdoor patio with fireplace and foot bath. Food choices.

The location is well suited for taking the cable car up to Mt. Fuji. The hotel is a western style, newer hotel with Japanese touches. It caters well to both families and couples. Some cute touches throughout the hotel like a the outdoor footbath and fire pit and they offer scented wooden blocks to use in the room tubs. Free shuttle to the train station is great.
We booked a room 2 adults/1 child with sofa bed but upon check-in they charged an extra 8000 yen to have bedding provided for the sofa bed. I questioned it and was told that I booked only for 2 adults.I showed my reservation to the manager and she told me basically that this is how it is. I'm sure it was a bit of a translation issue, but it's annoying to be nickel and dimed. The river view from our onsen tub was interrupted by the well-lit 7-11 across the street but there was a blind to pull down for privacy. The staff was mostly pleasant, however, it seemed like they just didn't have it together. I asked 3 different people about the cable car normal start time and not one knew accurately! What a time waste for guests and staff! Actually, asking anything about the loop - times, distances, restaurants involved staff looking it up on their phone, which was nice of them to do, but I assumed that they would be answering the same questions all day long and would know this stuff! It's the main draw in Gora. Dining options are extremely limited in this area. Make sure you have a dinner reservation here. Food is fine. Good burger! Dining area is nice and accommodates guests wearing supplied yukata. Shuttle to the station starts at 10. We were checking out in the afternoon (the cable car was cancelled the day prior due to high winds) so we had a tight window to do the loop. The hotel was unable to source a taxi for us around 8:30 am and was rather dismissive about it - just walked away from us. My husband was shocked by the rudeness of a staff member who told him that he had to go help a guest whilst we were trying to figure out the taxi situation with him. Just left us (also guests!) to figure it out, so we walked with Google maps. You will have to wait until 10 am for shuttle, pray that there's a taxi, or walk and hike many stairs like we did (my phone health data indicated 21 floors!

Great place to relax and enjoy the surroundings and hikes. Staff was very friendly, very good breakfast with lots of choices, comfy room and beds.
We would have appreciated to have more storage space (when travelling several weeks) but it is often the case in Japan.
Jacuzzis we not working in the public onsen but it was because of other customers that pressed the emergency button.
As a personal opinion, I would very much prefer that relaxing, zen hotels such as this one were adults only.
4.3
The hotel is situated out of town but is very close to the cable car and other amenities. It was a great location to get to the lakes and the sulphur springs.
The staff were amazing, all of them. The assistant F&B manager Shun Gyoda was very concerned as there were a lot of children running around and spoiling our romantic dinner. He moved us to a quieter part of the restaurant.
The facilities in the rooms were unique, we especially enjoyed the onsen bath outside on the patio of our room which was a nice touch.
The food was very good, breakfast was amazing with a choice of Asian or European dishes.
Everything was well maintained and the eye to detail was exemplary.
We definitely will be going back.
Not much.

That it was on a river and had a private onsen. We were also given a lovely room on the top floor to celebrate our 20 wedding Anniversary which enabled us to see the fireworks.
Extremely frustrating staff at check in, took too long and very hierarchical! In the end I had to bypass 3 other members of staff to try and secure a dinner reservation on our actual anniversary. We were advised that there was no availability to book into the restaurant for dinner as we were not on a dinner package! Given the location of this hotel, they need to offer all options at check in and be positive about where you can sit as the reality was that there were other places to eat in the lounge but this was not made clear. I also would not rate the food, very disappointing meal on the first night. The room arrive menu was better, which we tried in the second night of our stay. Also given the poor check in experience, we opted to check out the night before. Upon check out the hotel tried to charge for the accommodation which we had already paid for and a couple of hours later when we were relaxing in our room there was a knock asking us to pay the drinks bill as they had made a mistake and not added to the bill. Given the amount of errors on the hotels part I was surprised to be disturbed for $37! They offered to bring back change which I refused to avoid further disruption to our evening.
The shuttle bus also stops running at 6pm so if you would like to go out for dinner you will need to secure a taxi given the location is a 5 min drive from the centre of Gora.

The bath tub in balcony and the coffee
Location, very hard to find the property

- The staff are very professional + Frindly .
- The river view is amazing and relaxing.
- We’ve had the best service at the restaurant, we don’t eat pork or alcohol products for religion reason and they were very understanding.
- The shuttle bus service to and from the hotel was very convenient .
- Special thank you to the housekeeping lady how found my diamond earrings without me even realising that I’ve lost them .
The only thing that I think needs to be improved is the toilets, we booked two rooms and both toilets had an unpleasant smell .
