Close to the historical center of Ostuni, Casa Santa Caterina is an absolutely authentic accommodation. Clean, cozy, well equipped place with a very helpful and kind host. Yes, there are stairs and some narrow places inside, but it is normal, when you choose a downtown house in a medieval town like Ostuni. The rooftop terrace is amazing with a stunning view. There are bakeries, cafes, restaurants, stores nearby, and always found free parking places from maximum 3 minutes walk from the house.

Old town feeling

The place has character which is what we loved about it the most! yes there are fake flowers used as decorations but so there are lots of vintage items! The best of the property would have to be the location and the terrace view, gorgeous sunset if the weather allows! People complained about the stairs but from the pictures it was expected, we actually used them for a good workout! The host was responsive and helpful.
Parking was a challenge but you would not get better options for that area of the city! Yes the shower is low and low water pressure but does the job. The place does need a bit more cleaning, kitchen sponge was very dirty. Also, I expected toilet paper, soap and shampoo, but there were none! Would have definitely made a difference but for the price we paid, we just went and bought what we needed. The internet is being hotspot-ed from a phone in the property with no instructions on how to use but host send a video which somehow helped to sort it out.

Location, roof terrace, general "climate" of the old house
It was dirty (full of dust under the beds, no mop / wiping rag for the floor), cold (no central heating, only two portable heaters and air conditioning available, but with the height of the rooms it was difficult to heat them), worn, old equipment (cabinets, bed on the first floor) , no hand soap, very small shower.

It has a lovely character with a real Italian city feel. Roof terrace is nice with views of the centro storico which is lite up at night. It is well located for access to all areas of the city. Car parking isn't easy but we found a free public car park a few minutes walk away.
Finding the property was difficult as there is no name on the property and street names don't really exist. We were told that someone would meet us at the property but no one was there. We eventually called the owner who speaks no English and worked out the key was in a key keeper and he sent us the code!
If you have any mobility issues this is not a place to stay. There are 18 steps from the front door to the first floor where you find a pleasant living area and the two bedrooms. Through a door is the kitchenette with sink and cooker. The fridge is up a few steps which eventually lead to the top floor where you'll find the bathroom and another smaller seating area. The bathroom has sink, toilet, bidet and shower, although it is the smallest shower ever. I am over 6 feet tall and couldn't stand up in it. The shower curtain didn't reach the shower tray so the floor was awash after showering. Low Water pressure means the shower is a dribble even after using the boost button. There is air-con in the first floor and an electric heater in the bathroom. There were no instructions for the air-con and as it was very cold in the evenings in February it took us quite a while to get some warmth by trial an error. The kettle was broken, pans and utensils are very basic. I assume no one had stayed there for awhile as the beds felt damp on the first night. This could be a wonderful place if the owner upgraded some things but it's cheap and you get what you pay for.

great location!

I can honestly think of nothing.
The whole apartment smelled like somebody spilled a bottle of bleach - it was impossible to wind the smell so had to sleep in it.
The bed matrasses were disgusting, old and sway to middle making noise every time you move. We booked due to 2 bedrooms but the second bedroom was not even prepared. Also beware there is no window. On the top you get some old overused sheets. There is only one aircon in the apartment, the air does not get to the 2nd bedroom.
Terrace is a mess, looks nothing like in pictures.
There is no wifi - well actually there is one but the host responded that guests never request it so he has no password?
I just with we didn't book this place, there are so many nicer options in Ostuni, please don't do the same mistake!

The Apartmenthaus well located and cozy. The rooftop is amazing. Overall mich nicer than expected judging based on the picture that are uploaded.

It felt very homely and traditional of the area.
Lovely street, it felt authentic and full of frienly neighbors. Great views from the balcony: it's a nice spot even if more care could be taken to make into a great one. The furniture is a little old and tired. The shower was tiny, but the bath was big enough for one person.
Breakfast did not include milk for coffee, and there were no instructions on how to use coffee machine.

Great place with loads of character in a perfect location. Very accommodating to gluten free.
