Staff and location were great, amazing views. Let down was a very uncomfortable worn out bed in room 8. No big deal but tv didn’t work properly.

We booked 6 rooms to attend a family wedding nearby. We had 4 double altogether which had amazing views. We loved being able to all sit outside on the patio areas that joined our rooms together.
We also booked another couple of twin rooms that were nearer the bar area. All rooms were spacious and clean. Good showers and comfortable beds.
We had dinner in the garden from the pub. Everyone was happy with their food.
We enjoyed our two nights stay and would highly recommend.

excellent staff, lovely location with stunning views
fag butts all over the patio area outside the room and no bathroom blind

Plenty of room, happy to have dogs, a dog walk from the back of the hotel
Breakfast would have been nice, but I knew this wasn't available when I booked/

the view. room basic but functional and clean. staff friendly.
room needs a bit of attention - floor was lifted in one corner by the patio door and outside chairs and tables needed a clean.
3.9
No breakfast- though photos on website inferred there was.
Room very cold and very sparse.
Ar least a biscuit would have been nice- and frsh milk- as there was a fridge- as arrived at 9:30pm- no available food other than crisps from the bar

Rooms have undergone a recent upgrade and are excellent - very friendly bar staff and Host. Great location, great food (nights) - incredible views from the beer garden
There was no breakfast available - not really an issue but would have liked the option.

location
bed was dreadful
difficult to go to work on bad night sleep

Coffee and tea facilities.... That's about it.
Expensive for what it is, a motel at the side of a pub in Burwash. No breakfast options to speak of which when considering the price is daft. Room was OK but beds were two singles pushed together.
Overall it was alright but I don't think I'd rush back.

No breakfast served,we had looked at reviews and this was a deciding factor in booking
Restaurant not open for dinner and bar full and noisy ,in our 80s we did want to eat there especially as the only seating available was on high bar stools,so went elsewhere
Not the restful overnight we expected

The view was amazing, the room was fine. We only stayed one night and we didn't spend much time in the room as we were out at a wedding but it was clean and spacious with plenty of tea and coffee.
The landlady was a little frosty when we arrived at 12.20 and said the room wouldn't be ready til 2 to 2,30pm . We were going to the wedding at 2.15 and needed to get ready and I had asked for early check in. She said she would see what she could do and then came back and said a room hadn't been used the night before so we could go in there. As there were only 8 rooms I would have thought she would have known that at the start and there would have been no need to tell us we couldn't get in a room.. Anyway we got in our room and they actually got our second room ready before we left for the wedding.
They didn't do breakfast although it said on the website breakfast was available. Luckily there was a cafe across the road that did a lovely breakfast.

The Bear is a very welcoming and friendly pub, the staff are all lovely and helpful. The food is excellent and reasonably priced with great ingredients. My room was very nice, clean and well equipped. Patio doors opened onto a small secure place for my dog. The views are stunning and I will be returning often in future.
I should have stayed longer.

The bed was clean and comfortable.
Lovely view from patio doors.
No blind at bathroom window,we improvised with a picnic blanket!
Shower head and basin overflow both revolting
Woodlouse in the kettle
Ash trays full of ends on our patio area.
Generally unkempt and unappealing.

the location of the hotel is great, the views from the pub garden are amazing. parking outside. it used to be a lot better and the current manager has let the accommodation and breakfasts slide recently
the attitude of the female manager is appalling. I had a 2 night booking and was phoned on the first morning asking why I hadn’t checked out. I said I was staying for two nights and showed proof from Booking.com that I was in for 2 nights. she must have misread the booking and it meant I had to rush back to the hotel and bundle everything into the car. thankfully the pub opposite had a room, who by the way, are a lot friendlier and the room a lot comfier. would never stay at the bear again & cannot recommend it. happy to talk to someone from Booking.com to talk about this. booking.com and all the agencies should sever their ties to this aweful place. it’s like Fawlty Towers now, such a massive decline in the past two years. it’s a shame as the place could be nice, but it’s been left to decline, paint coming off the ceiling etc the current manager is to blame.

friendly pub stuff
no hot water whatsoever no soap for washing facilities and spoken to rudely bye the owner after I tried to enter the building at 7:52 when breakfast is at 8 o’clock

Well appointed, spacious room.Great view from patio doors over garden and countryside.
THE BEDS!!……a shame that as well appointed as the accommodation was,the beds were so uncomfortable 🥴I was able to feel every spring!which meant that I had a poor nights sleep and didn’t start the next day as fresh as I would have liked which was the whole point of travelling down a day early.
Great being able to park by accommodation, but area was very small if you drive a 4x4 or large estate car,not a lot of room for manoeuvre, especially if all rooms were taken.
