Just enough for a short stay

Close to most of the attractions, very simple,

Very basic breakfast, no luggage storage, no guest toilets, book room on the lower level as the stairs are very steep

Exceptional

This hotel was good in every sense. Is it a luxury hotel? No, but it doesn’t pretend to be. The staff member at reception was friendly and informative. Checking in took no time at all. My room was clean, well stocked with an extra pillow, a fan, and toiletries. I wasn’t disturbed by noise at night time. I would stay here again as a solo traveller.

Enjoy the breakfast and the hotel being near many resources.

Breakfast was nice. Hotel near to station.

Reported that the shower head fitting was very loose thus we had to keep the shower head in our hand right through. The staff and a gentleman came to see the problem, said he will report it but by the time we left nothing was done. Also very noisy right through the night.

It was a pleasant stay in Columbus Hotel.

The location was good. Close to Picadally station. There were a variety of restaurant across the road. Tube stations (2) were closeby. Even Hyde Park was not too far. It was right on the main road.

The toilet was too small. The room was a bit small for 3 beds. Also- want mobile / electricity charging points near the beds. Its too far off in the room. The window was open a little bit, so need more ventilation. Keep small fans in the room too. Breakfast variety was too simple. Milk was often over in the jug. Needed reminders. Fruits vanished by 9 am. Few cheese slices ( for vegetarians) . Breakfast can be made better as we had paid extra for it.

Great proximity to Paddington Station with friendly staff and an adaquite room.

Location is great, included breakfast (although very, very simple) was nice. Area and exterior of building is nice. Staff was friendly. Room was clean.

Tiny, tiny bathroom. Low water pressure in the shower. Bed was small for two (wife found it hard). Long haul up the narrow stairs to the 3rd floor with suitcases.

Proximity to the underground

To cramped, breakfast was to crowded ,the shower cubicle was like standing in a tube ,3 days was long enough as you had to pay a supplement to have a laundry change

Exceptional

location - super close to the paddington station and it is a perfect alternative for a long layover. I arrived a bit late, but the check in was still open and was very welcoming. the room was spacious, comfortable and warm.

Excellent small hotel for mini break in London

The room was well appointed on the ground floor at the back of the property. The water pressure was amazing so showers were luxurious. The receptionist was helpful, informative and friendly. The continental breakfast choices were excellent. The location of the hotel was ideal for travel being only a short walk away from Paddington Station.

It is accepted for the reason for the stay. Just Bed and breakfast. If you are looking for luxurious hotel, this is not the one. It is just to enjoy the day outside and return to sleep. The reception team is cooperative.

The toilet is terribly tight. The fan in the toilet was out of work.

Nice to see a friendly person on reception at arrival. Good location for us next to Paddington Station arriving by train. Everything nice and clean.

It was good but nothing remarkable. We chose purely on price and location. Rooms a little small for a couple.

Pleasant

Great location and very friendly staff. Convenient for one or two nights without luggage. Breakfast was fair but very simple and lousy coffee.

We had a very squeezed quadruple room. The space available was not even enough to have more than one person walking at the same time. No furniture for your stuff. Bathroom was very tiny and it took them two days to get the toilet properly flushing. The carpet appeared very old and dirty.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great.

The room was damp, the carpets were dirty and smelled funny, and it transferred to our suitcases. Because the room was dry the towels would not dry completely, and to get new towels we had to pay 1£ per towel.

Friendly hotel five minutes' walk from Paddington Main Line and tube stations

I liked the dual aspect of my room - I booked a double as a treat, just for me - and it was very quiet, at the back of the hotel, overlooking a private courtyard. The bed was comfy and the breakfast good. The Columbus is really a B&B as there is no evening meal facility or lounge / bar but there are plenty of good eateries a couple of minutes' walk away in London Street, including an Italian and a old fashioned style fish and chip cafe. The staff at the Columbus are very efficient and friendly.

I felt a bit uneasy on my last night - there is no concierge on site between 10.30 p.m. and around 7.00 a.m. and I was woken by a loud crashing outside my bedroom door, as though someone was rummaging in a cupboard in the corridor. My room was on the ground floor and I had to assume it was another guest rolling in somewhat the worse for wear (it was 4.00 a.m.) and struggling to find his / her room... I could have rung the parent hotel across the street but decided just to sit tight and wait for the noise to abate, which it finally did. As a lone woman traveller, however, this might be the deal breaker for me in respect of another stay at the hotel, alas.
