Herzliches Personal. Leckeres Frühstück. Tolle Umgebung.
Etwas zu einsam (für Alleinreisende).

Beautiful views, friendly and accommodating staff, great food.
My cabin was pretty basic, long ways from anywhere but that's part of the charm.
4.3
Beauty and quiet, great food, warm and attentive people, and a chance to help the environment and the local community. Not to be missed!

Great hospitality, very good food, idyllic location perfect to detox from an office environment. Our 3-year-old child loved it too. We can highly recommend the boat trip to explore the lake and some of its 29 islands.
Access proved a bit challenging, definitely best to use a four-wheel drive. A certain level of mobility is required for the steps between rooms, washing facilities and the restaurant.

It is a beautiful place to stay! It was peaceful, quiet and extremely relaxing. The owner, Wilfried, is a great guy with a beautiful backstory.

Irene’s cooking was impressive! We loved staying and eating with the family. The cottages were simple yet very cosy- the afternoon sun on the porch was wonderful.
One of the hot showers didn’t work, wasn’t a problem at all but worth pointing out. Light in the room could have been a bit brighter.

It was very nice staying here! The owner and his wife where very friendly and helped us organize activities. The food was also very good!
When it rains a lot the stairs can become slippery

The breakfast was good and the dinner was really exceptional, best cuisine so far. The care given to the guests is commendable

The huts were well made and clean and there was a lovely view of the lake. My husband and son enjoyed swimming in the lake too. I also liked that the place was run sustainably, so you felt that you were not disturbing the environment too much. I also liked the idea of communally eating together which gave you a chance to chat and share food wiht other guests. It is a lovely and peaceful place.
This has nothing to do with the hosts but the road to place needs attention. I hope that the authorities sort this out soon. You can only really get there by car.

View over the lake, nice dinner and breakfast. The tomatosoup was delicious.
The way to the accommodation was very stoney. The food was a little bit too expensive.

I really liked the home experience. I felt like being part of the family. Thank you 💖

A wonderful place located on the lake (peninsula) with direct access to the water. If you need a few days away from crazy Kampala, this is the place to go. It is a family-run guesthouse with a great vibe. The cottages are simple/basic with shower/toilets separate and shared but the view and environment are great advantages. The food was exquisite (home-made) and shared with the owner. Our daughter loved to play in the garden with the owner's kid. Finally, the price is very good.
The lighting inside the cottage could be improved but an additional solar light was provided by the owner.

A very picturesque, quiet, rather isolated place right on the lake, with beautiful views from the terraces of the houses. The owners of the house are very pleasant, kind and helpful people, they cook delicious and unusual dinners. The beds in the houses are good, everything is clean. A great option to spend a few nights in silence in nature. I liked everything, thanks Wilfried!

The hospitality: everyone was very warm and welcoming. Food was very tasty and abundant. You could help yourself as many times as you wanted.
Also the room was right in front of the lake, so the views were nice.
Getting there by car.
We followed the instructions provided by the owner which took us along a very dangerous road. It is by far the worst road I have ever driven after two years living in Uganda - big cracks and holes, big and hard rocks, narrow path for just one car (we were lucky we didn't cross any other car), the most dangerous part was on a cliff on the mountain. Not updated guides will tell you that this is an ok road, but this was in the past, not anymore. There is a longer but definitely much easier way via Muko.
We would have appreciated to know this in advance from the owner's side.

The owner and his family and staff were simply amazing. Was a pleasure to share dinner with them and play with their beautiful kids!

Beautiful setting, very fair price, delicious meals, very caring and helpful staff

The food was the best in Uganda, by far. I recommend that you visit, even if just for a meal. The shower, heated by a wood fire, was great. The site is very quiet and tranquil. All the staff were helpful and friendly. We did not have a veranda, but were given the use of one on the neighbouring hut.
The beds were rather hard.

location. friendly staff. good food. beautiful views.
toilet and shower are very primitive. if you don’t mind this you will have a great stay!!

I really feel bad about giving such a negative review because the site is unbelievable beautiful and quiet and really a lovely place!
But there is no electricity at all, neither in the room nor anywhere else! That means that there isn't any working source of light and I was lucky to bring a headlamp! I couldn't use my phone for the whole time which wouldn't have been a problem IF THEY HAD TOLD ME THAT BEFORE! But they do not say a word about the lack of electricity and wifi in the description and that's just not okay. I had serious work and planning to do (I wanted to go to Rwanda a few days later) during my stay and since its an extremely isolated location you can not just chose a different place to stay once you reached it. The description even says that there is wifi. Again, that would have been totally fine with me if I had known it in advance.

The simple bungalows are situated on a wonderful peninsula on the lake. We had an amazing view on the surrounding not only from our balcony but also our bed. I liked the eco friendly setting and cooking their own food produced in the garden. We loved the board walk where we watched the sunset and also saw some otters one hour later.
Ask for directions how to get there. Don’t be astonished side roads in Uganda are difficult. A trading center is a small village with many shops.
There are some flies around the lake which doesn’t bite but are bothering.

That was the most peaceful and beautiful place, and definitely my Uganda-Highlight.

Its a great ecolodge, the scenery there is beautiful and you are directly on lake bunyoni with a killer view. Bathroom is a septic tank and needs to be filled with sawdust, water is in tanks and not running water. It is difficult to get there if you dont have a car. All that said the place is amazing and the staff are super helpful

Great staff, great food, great place and very nice project. Thanks for all

- The owner is an extremely friendly and helpful guy. He helped us to change the flat tyre we got on our way to the camp and checked the car status (gave us some car oil, etc.).
- Since we came and left the camp during the night (spent only 1 night), we couldn't really see how the camp was - but we slept in that night very well and had an early breakfest at approx. 5:30 am.
- To go to the camp, we followed google maps which took us to a very bad offroad after we have been lost a couple of times and having a flat tyre. So don't really trust google maps and try maybe to contact the owner before you get there in order to give you a better description of the location.

Very authentic homestay at the shore of lake Bunyonyi. Nice cottages with Moskito nets. Washrooms are in a separate building and hot water is provided.
Hosts are super friendly and good for a chat over dinner.

Wilfried an his family are the most warm hearted hosts you could wish for, doing such great things for the community. The environment is eco-friendly and has a beautiful view at the lake. Eating the home cooked meals is highly recommendable furthermore. We felt like home there and were welcomed with open arms.

Our stay in Amasiko was an unforgettable experience on our trip through Uganda 🇺🇬
Wilfried and Irene were the perfect hosts and the atmosphere was very familiar. On top they both cooked very well and we had our best meals there on the whole trip. They even surprised us with a barbecue on our last evening! We would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful location. Perfect location for nature lovers. Cabins are located on a slightly steep shore with beautiful views on the lake and surrounding mountains, surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees. Also very quiet. Owner is very friendly and accommodating (for instance when my fellow traveler left at 5 in the morning for a gorilla tour they still provided her breakfast).
