The location is excellent, right in the centre of town. It has a really nice cottage feel to the place.
As I'd stayed in another cottage just before I had a reference in terms of price and therefore value.
It wasn't very clean, there were lots of ants in the kitchen and they immediately found anything...even in the bin.. There was nothing like sugar or the basics left by other people to make life a little easier.
The water was cold in the bath.
There are alot of instructions for leaving, with notes all over the place I.e. stripping beds, bins, texting.
I had asked to see about checking in a little earlier and I got what felt like an AI bot response back.
It is fine for a stay, but there are others which are better value for the price.

Talland house is a cozy pet-friendly cottage in the centre of beautiful Polperro harbour. Very close to an excellent food store and the wonderful Blue Peter pub. We parked up the hill in the public car park and paid £40 for the whole week. It was an easy and pleasant walk to the house from there. The house is also a great starting point for coastal walks, to Fowey, Looe or further. The house was comfortable and we had a great time.
There could be an extra frying pan and one of the bathrooms had mould which we cleaned off before settling in. It needs to be looked at properly however. Also, the dryer was not working which meant we were drying our towels all over the house :)

The location of the cottage is great and the beds comfortable however that is where the positives end.
Definitely one to avoid if cleanliness and maintenance are important to you. The cottage smelt damp when entering. There was a leak in the master bedroom bathroom which was mentioned in a review from January so had still not been fixed come March. It lacks basics in terms of equipment, no corkscrew / bottle opener, no cheese grater, no dustpan and brush.
The sideboard in the dining room was moulding, probably due to the level of damp.
If you do choose to stay, I would advise against complaining as you will likely be accused of lying.
When complaining we were advised that the missing items were there, invisible ones aren’t very useful. Apparently the sideboard couldn’t possibly be mouldy as it’s made from wood. Also denied the leak making a dripping sound as he claimed it ran down the wall. This is despite providing photos of the mouldy sideboard and a video of the leaking dripping into a bowl. The only way you could deny is if you are blind and deaf.

The size of the property was good and the beds were comfy and each bedroom has an en suite
When we walked in it had a damp smell.
It was raining and the roof was leaking in the main bedroom’s en suite and the floor was soaking. We phoned the number we were given and someone come to look at it promptly, we were given some towels to put there to catch the water until they could get on the roof to fix it. It needs a bit of tlc with decorating.

The location was very good, being very close to the harbour in the centre of the village. The living room had some charm. We enjoyed the pubs, cafes and shops. Warm welcomes from these local people. Splendid coastal walks.
Avoid staying at this property! The allocated parking space (one car) is 1/4 mile uphill from property. It is not viable to anyone who is not fit. This necessitates paying for the luggage taxi (both ways) and paying for a week's parking in the main car park which needs to be stressed. Most of the property was tired looking. It lacks basic, inexpensive items...salt, pepper, corkscrew, etc. Flimsy, ex-shop coathangers. Kitchen floor was dirty. There were some incongruous furniture items (an odd coffee table and shelves in the dining room which serve no purpose. Several knobs were missing from bedroom drawers. The departure time on our booking literature was 10.00 am.
On the day of departure we were leaving the premises at 9.45 when three cleaners (2 male, 1 female) arrived at the door. We were told in abrupt terms that we should have vacated at 9.00am! We explained that we were informed that it was 10.00am to be then told that this was out of date (if it was 9.00 they were 45inutes late, but we said nothing about this). Why is there this confusion? We left immediately under pressure having already packed and tidied. We then heard a cleaner say about us, 'No apology then! I turned and said, 'How rude! We won't be staying here again! This was our parting and lasting impression of Talland House!

lovely old cottage . fantastic location . fantastic wood burning stove beds were comfy took a while to warm place up . Christmas trees a nice touch , pubs all fantastic good food friendly place . attic room great daughter loved. mind your head if your tall . I saw a king fisher out of kitchen window which is only the second time I’ve seen one so that was amazing . nice outside area for eating in summer all though no bbq allowed because of roof. it’s a shabby view out back hopefully someone will buy up and renovate great opportunity for someone with money .
night storage heaters. some didn’t work and take a while to heat up and as we were visiting December and was exceptionally cold would of been nice to walk into a warm cottage especially after traveling 6 hours to get there . they have booster blowers . no wood left and just caught the shop £14 bag of 8 soft wood logs and kindling would of brought my own if I’d know . stairs steep and no handrail for older folk no heating in downstairs bathroom but showers all good up stairs would be nice if soap available just be prepared lucky I brought milk tea and coffee soap all very well if you arrive in day time when shop opens .but highly recommend . it’s a very old cottage so you must take that into consideration . the house keeper I rang said heating should of been put on , but there were hot water bottles there was only first night cold. we were roasting 2/3 night. people friendly lovely pubs . parking a night mare , you can’t get to house to drop stuff off but can get close . parking space unavailable received email too late as signal bad once your on wifi great , we did have the worst freezing weather , .
