At first it seemed like a conscientious place, calling to see if the guest was on the way as they'd missed the time they'd advised they would check in by.
But it was just they wanted them in by 8pm so the staff could leave.
I booked two rooms, one colleague was due to stay for 2 nights and the second for mon-fri.
By 10pm the first night, other arrangements had to be made. The rooms were disgustingly dirty with blood and make-up stained sheets, short and curlys over the bedding, mirrors covered in toothpaste, and no vacuuming.
They left the next morning and didn't return. I tried calling for the whole of that afternoon when staff were meant to return, but there was no answer, it rings off to a message that said you couldn't leave a voicemail and to call back later. Convenient so that you can't demand a refund for nights not stayed and the booking.com business webpage would not submit cancellations or changes.
Do not be fooled by good reviews - I'm sure when the hotel was the Jester Country Inn, it was probably fine, now its just a squatt under renovation with rooms being filled.
Not worth the £60 a night, just go to the travelodge or holiday Inn down the road.

The location of the hotel was good and the person I contacted on arrival let us go in as our parents had pre-booked and we were able to use their key.
We booked two rooms. Our double room had not been cleaned. There were stains and hairs on the bed and the pillows were all crumpled and creased. There were toothpaste marks that had dripped down the bathroom mirror, half empty shower gels, the heater did not work and there were no towels.

When we arrived the property was closed at around 11am. None of the phones we called answered. There was rubbish all around the property. When someone did come out he said there were building refurbishments taking place in the “Hotel”. They were not serving any food for the duration of our stay. With 2 children I could not stay here so I was forced to find alternative accommodation for the evening.

The bed was comfortable
The facilities are not as advertised on booking.com they claim to have a restaurant and bar open, both have clearly been closed for a while and the photos are not current ones of the property. Apart from having a call before our arrival telling us our key would be at reception (which turned out to be a table) we saw no staff for the whole time we were there, the decor is shabby, this is no more than a motel, it used be called the Jester which upon arrival there is still a mat with the name on, and in the bedrooms they still have the jester guest information including breakfast and meals, obviously outdated! There was a kettle in our room with teabags but no mugs or glasses for water so no way of making or having a drink. I wish I had something positive to say but after paying £147.00 for two nights I feel ripped off.

The room was well appointed and clean. The lady that I spoke to sounded lovely and was very apologetic about the restaurant being closed.
We did not see any staff. The pictures online were obviously old as the grounds and hotel are in need of maintenance. The 'continental breakfast' was a pot of porridge and there was only one cup.

Staff were friendly and allowed us to collect our key early as we were at a wedding.
The doors don’t lock when you shut them, if you forget like we did then the door was just unlocked all night

The Lady that showed me to the room was very pleasant and the room was what I expected for the money.
Unfortunately there was a lot of hair in the bath from the previous guest. Also the empty shampoo bottles etc were left on the soap holder and the bin in the bathroom hadn`t been emptied. I had asked what time the bar was open till and was told 11pm. The bar was shut when I arrived on my first night at 10pm and 9PM on the second night. I checked out that night and had paid for the full 6 nights. Their terms and conditions came up in red when I went to cancel on line as my circumstances had changed and I only stayed for 1 night checking out on the second. The previous day I could of cancelled.
So I stayed for 1 night paid for 6. Phoned the ex manager apparently who was going to relay my message that I had checked out and arrange some sort of refund. Surprise surprise I`ve heard nothing !

Bathroom a little tired but the room and snacks etc were very good.
Nothing small needed improving. But wallpaper and bathrooms needed an update. But very clean.

Staff just... weren't there. We had issues getting into the rooms when we got back in the evening, and there was nobody there to help, and they didn't answer the phone. They only supplied decaff coffee, and the rooms weren't very well cleaned, one of them was particularly dirty especially in regards to the pillows. I hoped to resolve this with them afterwards without leaving a bad review, but they seem very unwilling to answer the phone every time I've called. Disappointing stay to say the least, and certainly not worth what we were charged.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room was clean.
it’s not a restaurant, no food is available, bar closes early (8/9pm), no one on hand for any problems, cold shower, nightmare to get a taxi to anywhere. Took payment from my card a day early, although I had booked through booking.com as pay on arrival, cancel up to 1pm that day.

We had pre-arranged an early check-in from 2pm with the manager. When we arrived at this time, there was no one at reception to greet us or to answer the ringing phone. I phoned the manager directly and was informed that the cleaners had already checked us in. This was not correct as we were left sitting in reception alongside another couple. When we were eventually seen to, the cleaners had no idea both couples had been offered an early check in. Due to this, none of the rooms were ready (the cleaners arrived at 2pm for a standard 3pm check-in). We were also informed that the restaurant was no longer open as the chefs had walked out. This was not stated at the time of booking or prior to our arrival, leaving us no where to eat in the evening. When we arrived to our room, the bin hadn’t been emptied and there was cobwebs everywhere. I definitely would not recommend this place, especially after the cleaners told us our best bet would be to book the Travelodge down the road!
