Hard to pick a pecking order of what I liked best ... location, hotel rooms, hotel staff, food etc were all top notch. At a sub £90 price point for B&B is probably top of my stays anywhere in the world (I have between 15-25 stays per year - my stay at Galarmara was £67 B&B).
Nothing to dislike or suggest done differently.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Borrowdale with magnificent fell-walking on the doorstep.
Rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. The cuisine is excellent and dinner and breakfast well organised.
The staff - one and all - are very friendly and helpful.

Myself and my wife had a wonderful stay at Glaramara. Recently updated throughout, happy, friendly staff, great location. Very enjoyable breakfast with all that is needed.
A little expensive.

Great location. Friendly staff.

Great food, great location, great staff.
Bathroom was obviously built for the very elderly or disabled, but it was perfectly functional and did the job. Just a bit unusual to have to work around a built in chair in the shower.
4.5
good breakfasts and evening meals , comfy beds. quiet location
breakfast served until 9:15 am only. we would have preferred to have the option to eat later especially on a weekend . some advice on local walks and sights would have been good

Nothing. The weather was typically Lake District in January 😁

Breakfast was great in a beautiful location.
We didn't like being rushed at 7:30pm as we arrived after a very long days walking to be told we couldn't shower or even change from our wet walking clothes, as we were expected at dinner.
No-where in any of the corresspondence did it say there was only one sitting for dinner, served only at 7:30pm.

Fabulous location. Hotel very clean.

The setting was perfect.
Food served at dinner was very tasty.
Breakfast was decent.
Bathroom good size.
The large gap under the door was annoying - i could get all of my fingers underneath. So excess noise & light shone through especially at night.
Found the bed to be Very uncomfortable, springs were noisy and could feel them when Rolling over.
Dinner service is very unusual. Its all served at one time, if you are late - as it was not quite clear to me it was served all at once. it' can be quite uncomfortable trying to catch up with other diners.

The staff are accommodating and pleasant. I arranged for a late check in due to delayed trains and the communication throughout my journey that day was smooth and they were able to make way for a late dinner for me when I checked in. I checked out the day Im climbing Scaffel Pike and they were kind enough to let me leave my bags at the lobby and collect them at the end of the hike. Excellent location and view, rooms are well maintained, and common areas are spacious and cozy. Room prices are also reasonable and the hotel itself is just 5 mins away from Seatoller bus stop.
Nothing. :)

Location was really nice in the valley and the building itself was beautiful. The single room was not the biggest but quite tidy and seemed to be clean, dinner was surprisingly nice.

Nice view from our room and wonderful view from the front of the hotel. The evening meal was very welcome after a very long drive (need to book in advance). Breakfast was good too. Comfortable and clean, and a nice atmosphere. Big tick for the rubber shower mat (I carry my own because not all hotels provide one but didn't need it here).
A grab rail in the shower would have helped. Loved the food but the evening meal was almost too filling - the starter we had was practically a main course in itself! Couldn't finish the dessert which is unheard of in our family!!
4.5
- General rude / odd attitude from staff
- Hotel and room absolutely full of large spiders. There was probably 3-5 in each room and hallway
- We needed to speak to staff at night but the reception was abandoned and emergency number completely unresponsive. Given size and remoteness of the hotel this is completely unacceptable
- Hotel unresponsive to emails
- Very inflexible approach to dining on premises, as other reviews have noted

The receptionist was lovely and helpful unlike the manager.
I was extremely unimpressed with the hotel especially for the cost. I went to speak with the manager to express this and she was extremely rude. I was not complaining at all but her attitude was awful and made me so uncomfortable. The price does not match the facilities at all, there is no phone signal, no food available until late and even then it is limited, there is nothing within walking distance to accommodate for the lack of food, the room window looks out onto a horses field where the owners tending to them are looking directly in, the room is small and average with an extremely uncomfortable bed. I could have paid less than £100 for this further into Keswick if I knew this hotel was going to be so bad. The managers response to me pleasantly expressing how I felt was unnecessary and rude, she also spoke to her staff the same way as well as other guests, I did not feel safe and instead felt belittled and uncomfortable.
4.5
Very attentive receptionist, only stayed one night next day walking Scafell Pike left all my motorbike luggage in the office, later in the day receptionist phoned me to see if I was ok, was a bit late than getting back

Breakfast was adequate. Good range of food. Nice lounge and seating area both outside and inside. Dinner was too pricey for what was offered. Provision of all basic amenities.
Room on 3rd floor was too hot and stuffy. Fans provided were tiny and made no difference to the room temperature. Slightly dusty as well.
