Amazingly friendly staff and very spacious grounds and interior so never felt crowded. Great all day menu available from the bar and good food in the main dining room.

After a coach holiday was cancelled we decided to return to Langstone Cliff Hotel for a short break after we had first enjoyed a visit the previous year... though this was a winter visit we still enjoyed the quiet and friendliness of the hotel plus the lovely of the Dawlish area and of course the sea wall and Black swans, would recomend a visit at any time of the year

Nice hotel for an overnight. Looks dated from the outside but better inside with updates. Rooms are comfortable.
4.3
Good stay hotel is outdated but is very clean and the service and food was excellent
We stayed for two nights to attend a wedding in the area My only complaint is that on the Friday night children were running riot around the hotel reception, lounge and TV room with no parents or staff intervening, allowing them to be extremely noisy and disruptive!!
4.3
Staff very helpful. Food is good. Room comfortable with modern en-suite facilities.
Plenty parking.

Fantastic hotel with a real old world charm. From outside it looks dated but inside it is beautifully furnished and every aspect has been thought of. Staff are so friendly and there are lots of them around at all times. The views and grounds are spectacular too. Thoroughly recommend and will be returning.

All very satisfactory and a pleasant stay. Wil come again next year when we take part in the Cockwood Shanty Festival.

Room was nice, modern and clean and partly serviced daily. Staff were friendly -some staff more personable then others but overall nice. Location fantastic. Good selection of food and drink available - though so not allow you to bring your own food and drink to the room which is strange for a hotel?

Dated and tired public areas - restaurant was like a step back in time to the 1980s. No hot water final morning of stay - receptionist had little empathy to fact I had to be at work for 8 and water won’t be hot until 830 at checkout no apologies no reduction in bill to reflect no hot water in fact after I left and checked the bill they had changed me £13 for a breakfast I had not had adding insult to injury

Perfect. Great position, very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.

Stayed here with may 6 year old. The hotel was ok, but very faded English riviera. A very basic and cramped room (especially the bathroom) for the same price I paid for decent four star luxury the week before in Dublin. So cost versus experience was a bit off kilter. Extra payments for parking and poor kids food menu. Just simple and ok but not what I had hoped for from the cost and pictures (Amazing breakfast off-site at the local mushroom farm though!)

Very good deal, booked through Tesco club card so got charged £4 to park. Lovely hotel. Food also good value if booked in advance. And a sea view.

This hotel now charges for car parking which is new, they added £8 to my bill that i wasn't expecting or happy about. When i checked out the receptionist said that if i had booked direct there would have been no charge and should stop using hotels.com. Not a good advert for hotels.com when your hotels are charging customers more for using you.

Albeit out of season we secured a very good rate of under £80 for what i thought would be a typical hokuday hotel. Far from it ! the decor and comfort was very good indeed. We had a problem with our room which was dealt with instantly by room change. Prepaid for an evening 4 course meal which turned out to be a very good quality and plenty of choice. Breakfast too was very good. Didnt go down the SW coast path at the bottom of the garden but woll do next time. Great stay!

The staff in general we extremely polite courteous and very well presented however the reception staff were extremely rude

We paid over £150 pounds a night for a very dark dingy chalet on the edge of the hotel breakfast wasn't included and was an extra £11 pounds each plus you had to pay to park in hotel grounds so bringing price to £395 for 2 nights I've paid less for a 5* hotel!!

Dogs aren't expensive at Langstone however they don't offer anything for the £8pn. The next hotel we went to put out a dog bed, treats & water bowl but at £15. At Langstone we were given an A4 sheet on dog regs. My husband & I ate in the restaurant on the first night; the veggie food is run of the mill. At breakfast the veggie sausages are almost 'special needs' at the bottom of the page '*available on request'. Dry & tasteless as were the veggie burgers we had in the bar the next night. The 'mature' waitresses were great, there was a younger one who didn't seem to want to be there. We used the pool, you need to book a slot & it was lovely; clean & warm! The second night the fire alarm went off at 2.20am ish, the young man managed the situation alone & well. We evacuated the hotel, it could have been colder in Oct & after about half an hour we went back to our room. We were just getting back to sleep over an hour later & the alarm went off again. Back outside. On return we had tea & tried to sleep at about 5.30am anticipating the alarm may go off again. In the morning my husband was tired & didn't fancy hot breakfast & ate a piece of toast! I was yawning & pale at checkout. No mention of the disturbance! When I raised it with the receptionist she said would have to ask (no mask) Mark who asked me what I wanted (a decent nights sleep!). I took the £40 off he gave me but was made to feel greedy & a nusiance. I think they could have 'owned' the situation & be more customer led.

Our room was very dirty, we had dried blood in our bathroom. The cleaners left dirty water bottles outside our room and they were there for the duration of the stay. No sides had been cleaned. Dust and hair everywhere.
Went to the pool, it obviously hasn’t been cleaned since the hotel opened in 1800s
Dirty tissues were left in the lobby
This was all during coronavirus.
Also lots of guests not wearing masks and staff were not enforcing it

Nice hotel. Bed a bit soft for my liking, and small if you’re used to more than a double. Also some corridor noise.Shower was good and reception friendly.
