We loved the wayside whiskey barn. We had the twin room which was tastefully decorated. The whole place was real class. We had a full english for breakfast which was delicious. Emiko was a lovely lady . She let us book in a bit earlier. She went out of her way for anything that you would need. We would definately go back for a return visit.

Lovely B&B on the West side of the Lake District. Beautifully restored farmhouse with an excellent whiskey bat - have to admit to trying the bespoke Gins rather than Scotch. Will return.

This is a very special place to stay with a wonderful hostess. Lots of little touches that made our Ruby Wedding celebration extra special. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent and the selection of whisky amazed us.

Perfect location to explore the peaks Lake District or the beaches of Millom. We hiked up Scafell Pike and the drive to and fro was just 40 mins. The room itself was gorgeous, tastefully decorated and very plush. Lovely owners, very courteous and helpful and accommodated our last minute booking and late checkin/checkout requirements without a fuss. Totally recommend the stay here to getaway from the humdrum of city life!

Amazing stay at wayside - the room was absolutely beautiful, and the hosts were amazing. They told us all about local hiking trails, and how to get to the gorgeous beach only 5 minutes away. Loved the whiskey bar - and the breakfasts were delicious :)

The accommodation is wonderful a bit out of the way from facilities. the Breakfast was average and the TV did not work

Very nice rooms and surroundings. The only disappointing thing about stay was the weather, everything else was fantastic.

Beautiful place. We stayed in the annexe which had a roll top bath - amazing! Very comfy bed everything you could need including bubble bath for a long soak. Breakfast was lovely all fresh cooked produce - very cosy place. We will be returning and we will also be sampling more of Stephens whisky collection!

This place is such a gem that this is the first time I have ever reviewed a place I have stayed at! Steven and Lynne are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. They have restored the place to an extremely high standard and location wise, it's right next door to The Lakes but without all the traffic and people! The local beach goes on for miles but you'll be lucky to see a handful of people on there, which adds to the tranquility of your stay. And the Whisky Barn...Wow, just Wow! I will be back!

For accommodation with only 4 rooms this hotel offers every facility that ten plus room establishments do.
We stayed in the annex and I was not only impressed with the standard of the room finish but also the added extras , like bone china cups, bottled water and slippers provided.
The food was all freshly prepared and made to order by the in house chef and every dish was cooked to perfection.

A hotel with a difference!! And what a difference! Beautiful surroundings! Really looked after by staff! Made to feel very special!! Room we stayed in was perfect!! Really reccomend the attached barn! WOW! But even with the surroundings and standard of accomodation, it was the personel touch in everything that made a difference! I will certainly be going back!!

Beautiful scenery. Very tastefully decorated. If you like natural touches like wood and stone this is the place for you. Comfortable beds with lovely linens. Everything was kept clean. Good food although it would of been nice to be able to get food later in the evening and more selection. But it is a b & b so evening food is a bonus.

Travelling with our two year old son has been a hassle on occasion with some hotels "child-friendly" policy turning out to be not so friendly. However our stay at Wayside was excellent from start to finish. The owners made us and our little boy feel welcome from the start, the room was bright and clean and the views spectacular. Comfortable beds, well presented room and bathroom and a quaint dining/bar area all added to the homely feel. We dined in the hotel on both nights of our stay and the food was excellent throughout. The owners were friendly and helpful, especially to our son and I would recommend a stay here to anyone looking for a charming break.

This lovely inn is located on hills overlooking meadows, hills and the Irish Sea . It has been lovingly restored from it's prior purpose as a whiskey barn, and the innkeeper/owners have kept the charming aspects of this prior life even as they modernized and repurposed it. The entire premise is spotless and warm ( in character and in fact). We were located in the Annex, and enjoyed the sense of privacy and quiet that this provided. The space was modern, comfortable and exceptionally clean. What sets this inn apart and lands it solidly on our list of all time favorite places to stay ( any where!) are its hosts Steven and Lynn. At the beginning and end of each day we were afforded the privilege of selecting first rate meals from the menu provided all the while engaged in conversation with the guests and hosts. It was less a meal at an inn and more like a very lively and interesting dinner(breakfast) party. While everything on the menu was delicious, of particular note are the salmon, lamb and crème brulee. As it was our first trip to the lakes district, we relied on Steven's extensive knowledge of the area to guide us on places to visit, shop and hike. We were never disappointed with his suggestions or directions. Although the local weather did not cooperate - cold and high winds prevailed - the warmth and charm of this inn and our hosts left us with a very positive impression of the area. We will definitely plan a return visit.

Not sure what we liked better - the accommodation or the owners! Both in equal measure I think. The hotel itself is well positioned for exploring the local area, the rooms are comfortable and the food is OUTSTANDING - we ate in both nights, something we never do. The owners (and the other guests!) are friendly, full of great tips and interesting stories. We are planning to return soon!

Great little b&b. Stayed in the annex which was beautiful inside with some fantastic charm. The food served was brilliant as we're the hosts.
Only concern was a number of cobwebs in and around the room, just a quick dust round the door ways and ceiling would leave the room perfect

The rooms were very comfy and roomy and they accommodated us well with our four month old baby. The hotel was very clean and newly refurbished through out. We enjoyed the breakfast too. The location is also great with the beach just a 5 minute drive up the road. I would say it is very good value for money also for the room we had. We would stay again.

This was such a find!! The attention to detail in this converted barn was lovely, it was warm, cosy and very inviting. The weather was wet and windy but it was wonderful to come in to a warm fire. A drying room provided to put all your wet things. The bedroom had a lovely view of the surrounding scenery, an incredibly comfortable bed, coffee and tea making facilities and was spotless. Stephen (the owner) is very attentive and his cooking is superb. We had a delicious eve meal and fabulous cooked breakfast. Def worth a visit, not difficult to find and a lovely place to explore. Will certainly be returning.

We had an excellent experience of the Wayside. The food was exquisite and the room itself so much more than I expected. The situation was exactly right for us too and we had a great walk up Black Coome and trip to Muncaster. Highly recommended. Hope to go back again sooner rather than later! An added extra is the Whisky Barn, I went hating whisky and left with an appreciation for it, still don't like it but no longer hate it! A little heaven for anyone who likes it though!
