About this apartment rental
Note* Painting and spalling work to be done in tower 8/21-12/15. Our unit is one back from oceanfront. They will start on the oceanfront, spalling and painting and move down the building towards the mountains. We have been told the work will be done mon-fri 8 am to 4 pm. All ropes will be taken down daily so view will not be blocked after 4 pm. No work will be done on the weekends. Pool , hot tub, tennis courts , elevators, lobby will be operating as normal. Noise and construction workers will be happening during the dates stated above. Please contact me for more information . Thank you

You will be treated to the views of whales (November thru April) , dolphins and exquisite Hawaiian Sunsets as you relax. Located on the 9th floor one from ocean front, you truly have private oceanfront views. The condo’s lanai offers outstanding views of Lanai, Ka’anapali beach and the West Maui Mountains. Enjoy relaxing on the lanai in the island breeze as you drink your morning coffee or evening cocktails and listen to the sounds of the surf.
You will also see the beautiful catamarans sailing through the ocean through out the day. It is most enjoyable to watch the whale watching, snorkel and sunset cruises pull up right in front. At night, during happy hour, you can sit on the lanai and listen to live Hawaiian music at Hula Grill right next door. On weekends you can listen to Leilei's rock bands during Happy hour, also center court whalers village has some, hula/ live music entertainment that you can hear ( scheduling is determined monthly ). Whalers village and restaurants close At 10:00 p.m. nightly. We have enjoyed the live entertainment. In the evening the tiki torches and breaking surf in front is mesmerizing . During the day check out towels from the beach activity kiosk and spend your days relaxing on beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters that are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing and jet-skiing.
If you are a golf aficionado, the Royal Ka’anapali course (36 holes) is a short walk across the street or with a short drive you can be at The Village and Plantation, where they hold the PGA Mercedes Championship every year.
The Whaler, a premier condominium resort, is located boasts impressive amenities that include a concierge, newly remolded pool and hot tub, spacious lobby, fully equipped fitness center, tennis courts, as well as gas barbecues with ocean views.
Whaler’s Village is a short walk from the Whaler and offers shopping and fine dining along the 2 mile promenade that runs parallel to the beach. It is also a brief stroll to Black Rock beach where it’s a perfect place to swim with turtles or watch the cliff divers entertain in the evening. Lahaina, a historic whaling village, located a short ways away via a free trolley has additional indoor/ outdoor fine dining and shopping.
This one bedroom and two baths, 1,118 sq. ft. including a 213 sq. ft. lanai, condo is located on the 9th floor south side, with some of the most incredible views you will find on Maui. Hawaiian décor throughout, you will really get a feel for island living.
Our remodeled kitchen and bathroom offer custom high end cabinetry, travertine marble tile work and lighting. The kitchen is equipped with new stainless steel appliances as well as high-end custom cabinetry and quartz counter tops. The newly remolded bathroom has custom marble counter tops and travertine marble tile work.
This condo can easily sleep 4 with a king sized bed in the bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room, and a futon. There are 2 flat screen TVS with cable, HBO, DVD player, WIFI internet access and a phone. This unit also comes with a washer and dryer which is a real plus. So instead of waiting to use the one washer and dryer on each floor and going to the lobby to get coins, you are able to do laundry without wasting your valuable vacation time. We also offer1 boogie boards, 1 ice chests, and 2 beach chairs to get your vacation off to a quick beach day start! We loved having the space of a full kitchen. Bought groceries and cooked in the unit and also at the BBQs below. With a family... 2 bathrooms is a must. Floor to ceiling windows provided fantastic views from the balcony which felt like we were 'at the beach from above' while relaxing and eating meals outside. Were there some smells once in a while from the Hula Grill below? Yes. But not that big of a deal for us. Music from below too? Yes. We enjoyed it. Host was on point with good communication. Had an excellent stay! Recommended.

To preface, we have high expectations since we take a lot of pride in our own home. I’ll try to keep the pros and cons as simple as possible
Pros:
Had great view of ocean from deck
Location next to Whalers Village is perfect and also close to Black Rock
2 bathrooms is definitely a perk.
Con’s/unexpected
Unit is in south side of blinding 2 which is right next to Hula Grill and so you smell the food from the restaurant most of the day and there is also a hum that takes away the sound of the ocean
We had bugs in the cabinet to the right of the microwave and under the stove/dishwasher
Had WiFi issues a couple of times where we had to call maintenance
Dishwasher also wouldn’t turn off one night no matter what we did. Housekeeper came the next day and apparently the unit reset because when she did the same things we did the night before, it worked but at the end of that cycle, there was a bunch of water on the floor so we just stopped using it.
Unit needed a deep clean
Some of unit has been updated which is what you see in the pictures but not all of it has. The bathroom off the bedroom looks like it probably did back in the 90s. The overhead ceiling fluorescent lights were a little much
The linens were few and there’s not any extra blankets
Know that this is an owner operated unit so there is no housekeeping service, you have to get a hold of the owner if you have any issues and you will get charged a daily resort fee from Whalers too.
We will not pick this unit again.

Our stay was very nice and comfortable. The view from balcony was spectacular! We were in an excellent location for shopping and food. And, Kaanapali beach was beautiful!

Perfect place for a family of 4. We loved the location. Great beach to swim with turtles, can walk to shopping and restaurants. Appreciated the washer and dryer within the unit.

I had a splendid stay at this condo. It’s in a very convenient location. No need to spend money on whale watching or sunset cruises when you can see it all from the balcony. Times grocery store is easier to navigate than Safeway and it’s Hawaiian owned. The complex has grocery baskets in the basement to haul up your food purchases. The unit was very quiet and the bed perfect. The only thing I didn’t find was a set of binoculars to watch those whales frolic in the Pacific.

This condo was gorgeous and extremely cleanly with incredible amenities and a beautiful ocean view. The host was very communicative and attentive to any questions or needs we had. We would certainly come back!

Such a wonderful property. Beautifully appointed, super comfortable bed, furniture, and deck furniture. All the handmade woodworking by the owner was super special.
It was so fun watching the whales each morning from the deck. Amazing location and being right there at the Whaler and Whaler Village was the best. Can't wait to return again! Don't miss staying at this property!

Our stay at this condo at The Whaler was excellent. It sits in a perfect location with gorgeous views to the South and the island of Lanai’i. The kitchen and one of the bathrooms have recently been updated. The condo was well appointed and had everything that we needed. Communication with the owner was excellent. The bed was comfortable and having the extra space of the living area was really nice. I would highly recommend this condo. The Whaler itself is a nice property with luscious gardens, gorgeous lobby, a nice pool and small but workable gym.

This condo served as an excellent home for a week for my wife, my two teenage daughters, and myself. There are certainly numerous condos at the Whaler on VRBO, but I picked this one because of (1) the side of the building it was on and the elevation, and (2) at least one other review stating specifically that the bed was comfortable.
Regarding the first - the view is exactly as it appears in the listing. It's far from the next nearest building, so the view isn't dominated by any other structures. You can see both the mountains and the ocean, with Lana'i in the background. It's also positioned so that you can be outside any time and never be in the direct sunlight. Regarding the bed - I can confirm that it is, indeed, comfortable. And I'm picky about beds when I travel. And the pull-out sofa was, well, a pull-out sofa - but my girls said it was one of the more comfortable ones they've slept on, and didn't have any issue with it.
The condo was well appointed and had everything we needed, including beach chairs - so you don't need to pay to rent those or to use the meh free ones from the Whaler. The air conditioning worked super well, and parking was easy. Communication from the host was great. Overall, an excellent experience. If we're back on the West coast of Maui again, I won't bother to shop around if this place is available.

We absolutely loved staying at this condo in Whaler's Village. The accessibility to the shopping and restaurants in Whaler's Village was very nice. We would walk to the coffee shop in the morning for breakfast and walk over for dinner at night. We loved being right next to all the action, but it wasn't loud or too much for us. The condo was beautiful and clean and perfect for a couple and one child on the sleeper sofa. The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay, and the laundry machines were an added plus! The property provides morning coffee and daily water in the lobby, and they provide towel service for the pool and beach. You get the convenience of a condo with the amenities of a resort at this property! Thank you for opening your condo to us!

We had an awesome stay in this unit and recommend staying here if you like being close to black rock and/or Whaler's Village. The unit had great views and was super clean. They unit was very well decorated and we felt like we were in someone's home.

We had such an amazing time in Maui! This condo was the perfect location for us. It’s minutes to the beach, shopping and food. We spent lots of time at Black Rock which had turtles and very cool snorkeling spots. Our condo had all the amenities we needed for our family and beautiful views from the lanai. We will definitely be back!

We celebrated our 10yr anniversary with our kids (6 and 9). Judy was very accommodating - even ensuring our room was ready early since we arrived in the morning. We enjoyed the beautiful view from the lanai and had everything we needed to make meals and snacks for our kids. Being near Whalers Village was a huge plus too - making it easy to hit the beach or a restaurant. We hope to be back very soon!

Pros: owner was a nice person and also got us in very early; the views and property are amazing, the concierge was excellent, washer dryer in unit.
Cons: needs a serious deep clean; ice maker broken which owner said she didn’t know, but someone left partial bag of ice and there were a ton of ice cube trays—wasn’t fixed even after I informed her—; condo is listed for 4 people but 1) only 2 chairs for higher table on lanai and at a short table one chair ( should have been 4 total at higher table where we all could see view!), 2) one of beach chairs is unusable/broken so only 3 in actuality; 3) minimal dishes (e.g. 5 dinner plates) 4) if you plan to cook, knives are not very effective and minimal cooking utensils (we bought a couple cooking items and left them in the condo) 5) bedding was poor, the master king had a sheet and then a old felt not good quality thin blanket covered by another sheet with nothing else 6) the listing says unit is remodeled, but the master bath has definitely not been.
Sum: this unit is priced very high for what you get compared to other similar units we’ve stayed at in the Whaler complex. It’s a bummer because we’ve been here before and expected same or more especially with higher price and really wanted to like it because the owner was very nice and helpful upfront with early check in.

Staff there is friendly and helpful, and Judy was easily reached with quick response when needed. The south/west view from the 9th floor is very nice, with a large well equipped lanai and plenty of sitting options. Aside from the air conditioners below at the Whalers Village Mall, the suite was overall a peaceful and quiet place to enjoy. We would definitely stay again for our next vacation, and recommend this suite for others looking for a great Kaanapali location.

Thank you, Judy. We had a wonderful time at your condo. It is clean and beautiful and the view is amazing. When we arrived, the front desk welcomed us by name right away and knew that we had made arrangements with you for specific check-in and check-out times. They were friendly and quickly provided all of the information we would need for our stay -- regarding parking, how to access beach towels, nearby attractions etc. Both arrival and departure were quick and seamless. It's nice that you provide a few water toys on the lanai for use (which we did) -- eg.boogie boards and noodles and fins. The condo provided all amenities and everything in the kitchen was so clean and organized. The decor is very nice and the mirrored walls let you enjoy it twice (while also enabling you view the ocean even when you aren't looking out at the ocean). It was nice to have access to the washer/dryer. We had an absolutely wonderful time and would recommend this condo to anyone who is looking for a perfect Kaanapali location and a lovely condo. (In response to comments from others about the smells coming onto the lanai from the nearby restaurants, they definitely do. For one person in our party, this made him not want to use the lanai, but it didn't bother my husband and I. We loved sitting on the lanai enjoying the view and busy Kaanapali activity along the boardwalk below. It would depend on your sensitivity to cooking smells. For me, it was not any different from smelling the cooking when sitting in a restaurant. )Also, we noticed no significant noise, even though the property is conveniently adjacent to the busy Whaler Mall (which is VERY convenient for Happy Hour Monkey Pod Mai Tais). We also loved that the condo was a very easy walk to the mall and to Black Rock, where snorkeling is good and we were lucky enough to see sea turtles. Staff at the Whaler were all friendly and helpful. Thank you, Judy, for sharing your lovely condo.

Best Whale tour is with Pacific Whale Foundation/Eco tours that leaves from Lahaina. Many whale sitings and a huge whale decided to swim under our boat twice and gave us and up close and personal visit! The condo itself was in a terrific location with incredible views. The only challenge was the condo needs better cleaning. However, we could wash the dishes that were dirty in the dishwasher and the dirty towels in the washer and dryer in the unit. Overall, the Whaler is a wonderful place to enjoy the beach!

We stayed at Judy’s condo at the Whaler from Christmas to New Year’s Eve 2022. The condo is fantastic! Exactly as pictured, except the view pictures that are posted on the listing do not do it justice! The view was absolutely breathtaking! We sat out on the patio every evening and watched the sun set.
The condo was very comfortable and inviting. The main bed was incredibly comfy, pull out couch was great too. My boys slept on that and were happy with it.
The kitchen has everything you need to cook with and there are BBQs downstairs right near the sand.
Whalers village is just next door, it was easy to walk down and grab some lunch and a mai tai. Boys had a good time jumping off Black rock, which is a short walk up the beach near the Sheraton. You can rent surfboards and surf the little break down the ways a bit, you can see it from the patio. They saw a bunch turtles while they were out surfing.
Don’t forget to look in the box out on the patio. For some reason I missed it and we opened it on the last day and realized there were beach chairs, sand toys, snorkels and fins and nice body boards. I was so bummed I didn’t realize it was there earlier.
It was a fantastic vacation and we will definitely be staying here again!

Exactly as pictured, except the view pictures that are posted on the listing do not do it justice! The view was absolutely breathtaking! We sat out on the patio every evening and watched the sun set.
The condo was very comfortable and inviting. The main bed was incredibly comfy, pull out couch was great too. My boys slept on that and were happy with it.
The kitchen has everything you need to cook with and there are BBQs downstairs right near the sand.
Whalers village is just next door, it was easy to walk down and grab some lunch and a mai tai. Boys had a good time jumping off Black rock, which is a short walk up the beach near the Sheraton. You can rent surfboards and surf the little break down the ways a bit, you can see it from the patio. They saw a bunch turtles while they were out surfing.
Don’t forget to look in the box out on the patio. For some reason I missed it and we opened it on the last day and realized there were beach chairs, sand toys, snorkels and fins and nice body boards. I was so bummed I didn’t realize it was there earlier.
It was a fantastic vacation and we will definitely be staying here again!

Within an hour of checking in for a 9 day stay I notified the owner of the stained, dirty carpet and poor kitchen lighting because the 2 ceiling lights above the sink were burned out. She asked me to text her photos of the carpet which I did and she agreed it was bad. Her response was to tell me there was a bottle of Resolve carpet cleaner and light bulbs and a ladder in the utility closet, and that I shouldn’t call building maintenance because they charge too much. When I told her we weren’t going to be doing this maintenance but we expected it to be taken care of she said she would call her own maintenance people and let me know when they were coming. I never heard another word from her and of course nobody ever showed up.
You should also know that although most of the unit has been renovated the master bath has not. It doesn’t meet expectations at this price point, nor does the extremely soft bed.

This was our second time renting this unit. Both times it was a pleasure. Well appointed with everything you need, beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, etc. Great having washer/dryer in the unit and the kitchen had everything you wanted. We wanted to stay an extra week but this unit was already booked. We ended up renting a unit through the Whaler which didn’t have everything this unit had.
