Stay was ok...

Just one night away, hotel was very nice, well designed and maintained

This looks like a nice place to stay but we booked a double room through Hotels.com and when we checked in and went to our room we found we had been down graded to a cosy room. I certainly wouldn’t pay for this, a tiny room looking out to a fire escape.
I wouldn’t mind if they had explained at checkin but we were left to discover the down grade when we got to the room.
A very disappointing stay.

Loved this hotel. When we arrived we weren't happy with the room we were given so we mentioned it to the Receptionist and there was no issue with moving us to another room which was a lot better and in a much better location in the hotel. The room was comfortable although a little noisy as it was above the beer garden so when the windows were open it was difficult to sleep and as it was so hot you had to have the windows open. A top sheet on the bed under the quilt would have been helpful as it was too hot to have the quilt on alone. The main criticism we had was with the breakfast. It was extremely disorganised - we could choose a time to come down but when we arrived a table was not set for us. We were given a menu which had continental breakfast and cooked breakfasts on - we weren't aware that the continental breakfast was at the side and you could help yourself as no-one mentioned it straight away. There was a lack of certain items - milk bottle was empty, no glasses for juices and no dessert spoons. We had to ask for a dessert spoon and was told they were washing them up so we were given one teaspoon each for eating our cereal and stirring our hot drinks which was a bit rubbish. Surely a hotel like this can afford to buy some dessert spoons. When the hot breakfast arrived it was of a very high standard. The restaurant staff were doing their best but we felt that it could have been a bit more organised. Dirty plates left on tables for far too long.

Very nice stay and lovely staff at the bar.

Right from the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with a friendly welcome and efficient service on check-in, this stayed the theme throughout our stay. The hotel is beautifully decorated - fun, plush and decadent - and has a cosy atmosphere.
We had a relaxing glass of wine in the bar after dining out at Cafe Des Amis across the road (highly recommend). The hotel is surrounded by a handful of diverse and highly-rated eateries.
Eggs were cooked to runny perfection in the morning and the staff were so on the ball and welcoming.
We'll see you again on our next visit Falstaff!

Great hotel and ideal stay to visit The Marlowe Theatre. However, there was no air conditioning which meant for a restless night.

The hotel on arrival looked good.
Greeted by a friendly member of staff and checked in.
Lovely lounge and bar passed on the way to the room.
The room was well decorated, larger than we expected, big bed, very clean, tea and coffee facilities and bathroom very smart with nice toiletries.Housekeeping brilliant, keep room spotless throughout my stay.
Was next to a very busy pub, so was noisy but that died down just after 11pm.It didn’t bother us.
Wi-Fi was free but very intermittent.
Breakfast staff friendly, lovely room with continental laid out.
Hot menu looked good, however if the sausage was a Cumberland as stated it was bland and lacked spices, the scrambled eggs were heavy and dry.
Several residents in the breakfast room in my hearing did ask for a fried egg but were told they didn’t do that! My another half was not impressed he loves a fried egg.
Not sure why, chef can do a poached egg as I had on the second morning.Pancakes were lovely too!
Also remember to take your card to the bar as I popped down for a drink and was told I couldn’t charge my drink to my room! Never had that happen in all my travels!
Good hotel, just a few quirks!

A characterful hotel in a good location, friendly and efficient staff.
4.3
We stop here on a regular basis whilst visiting family. Rooms are small but adequate, beds comfortable and clean. Great breakfast!
4.3
The hotel was very cute and the staff was quite nice.
4.3
Staff on check in and check out were extremely unenthusiastic about life! Room nothing like the pictures, very basic/dated and actually stuck out in an outbuilding.
Breakfast was good!
4.3
We booked 2 night stay but the ground floor room we were given was a disaster . No hot water for showers until the morning we left . Ground floor room looked straight out onto busy road so sleepless nights . Security door was broken so open all night it was just like Faulty Towers , poached eggs were like golf balls & after sending them back came out the same , third time was lucky .Will not be going back anytime soon .
4.3
One of the rooms has an adjoining wall to the pub next door who, at the weekend, play rock music until 2 am .....luckily the very helpful manager at reception arranged another room for us or our stay would have been a disaster
4.3
Very good location close to restaurants , pubs , shops

It’s convenient and the service is excellent!

Loved my room- cute, comfy and

Great one night stay here. Managed to park around the back after arriving late. My room was very good - clean and comfortable. Great bed and decent shower. Very close to the centre so easy to walk into town. Would recommend.
4.3
The hotel situated near the city centre and train station. The room is spacious.

We really enjoyed our anniversary trip at The Falstaff. Excellent service and a lovely breakfast too!
4.3
Lovely hotel and lovely breakfast, though we weren’t informed of correct breakfast times at check-in, nor of the door code until we checked out! Would recommend hotel if staying in Canterbury!
4.3
Charm, near to old city.
A restaurant in the hotel would be nice, even if just for light meals
4.3
Check in was awful, told to sit in the bar as the key card machine wasn’t working. Waited nearly an hour when the hotel receptionist decided to let us into our room with his master key.
Not sure why this took an hour for him to realise this.
We did get a complimentary glass of Prosecco, but only because I asked for it.
Could only get wine or beer when we returned from the theatre!
Room was dirty and breakfast was awful!
Have stayed many times but never again!

Nice property easy walk to town centre

Perfect location for visiting Canterbury Cathedral. Property facilities were clean and modern in a classic building. Staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast was spot on.
4.3
Lovely hotel, room was just gorgeous & one of the best breakfasts we've ever had! Would definitely go back.

I first stayed here more than 12 years ago, the property has been completely renovated to a much higher standard
4.3
ok nice room lack dining
4.3
Great location.
Lovely hotel, exceptionally clean and outstanding bar staff
4.3
This was spot on as a location with great food & drink options available.
The room was very comfortable, clean & warm, nicely decorated. Only faults were the wind whistle though the window all night & 2 soft pellow. Bed was very comfortable those.
The member of staff on greeting us never said much or move of his chair. Only tap to say tap for the car park parking.
Taking away that we would stay there again!
4.3
Great location. Staff at reception desk could have been friendlier especially on check out.
Great breakfast, slow to arrive but good quality ingredients. Would stay again.
4.3
Lovely hotel helpful staff Will be back again.
4.3
Lovely room, location brilliant for Canterbury centre. Would highly recommend
4.3
Perfect position for dumping the car and walking round the town. Easy to find and park. Good hotel.
4.3
Really quaint room. Fantastic staff all extremely friendly and helpful
4.3
Had been looking forward to staying here seeing photos of the bedrooms and the hotel Instagram page, but our room was very disappointing. Cold, noisy (single glazed windows), next to another pub and bathroom that needed some love. Not what I expected for the price. Also seems like more of a bar with rooms as an add on rather than a hotel. Upon check out we heard another guest complaining about the standard of their room - shame!
4.3
Very good
4.3
A lovely stay, room was great, checking in easy. Hotel bar looked good but service wasn’t great, took far too long to serve drinks and didn’t seem very busy. Also, one of us wasn’t drinking and the staff seemed put out by being asked to do soft drinks.
4.3
We had a fantastic stay room beautiful breakfast tasty staff excellent overall experience cannot fault so clean and warm would 100% recommend can’t wait to return
