It was a really nice hotel especially for the price of the area! It was well made and kept and close to a lot of places to shop or eat. Only con was the water from the showers had one setting: HOT!! It burned me and was pretty much unusable.

There was hair in the bathtub, the lights between the beds did not work, the air/heat unit did not work. At check out there was not a person at the front desk. Walls were so thing I heard the people next to me all night until 5am. Carpets in walkway were not clean.

We booked thru Hotels.com. When we arrived we were told of a $150 hotel hold fee for damages.. NO WHERE ON HOTELS.com. Does it indicate this.. threw our budget out the window.. also the HOTTUB was not functioning and had not for months… that was not listed either. hotel staff not professional. sweat shirts and eating at front desk. It was like an upgraded Motel 6… they can leave the light off… NEVER BE BACK

Stayed because it was closer to my daughter place. There was a little banging here there, but went away. Nobody bothered us. But the room had a smell to it. The bed underneath the comforter was still dirty. Good thing we bought our own blankets and pillows. Lady at the front counter wasn’t rude, but wasn’t really Show hospitality. Well, I stay here again no, not at all. There was some stains on the wall as well. There was a hole from opening the door, but they had it covered with black tape. There was no extra lock for the door. The cooler look like it was gonna come off the wall. There was a bad odor we didn’t know where it was coming from. Needs to be updated for sure on everything.

The staff was great. None of this is their fault. Could not find a room with working AC. There was several parties checking in at the same time. 2 of us were in the lobby trying to get another room because of this and another was on the phone. We were giving a box fan. Hot tub was still closed At this point. I feel like it’s deceptive to advertise a hot tub and ac. I travel for work and I am in about 70 different hotels over 200 nights a year. Roughly. The point of this is I have never seen ACs this old in a room. The knobs were removed with no wires going into the units. But there was newer wall controls. How they controlled them I have no idea. None of the ones we tried controlled anything on the unit. Strict signage about were you can eat breakfast but it’s only stale pastries and coffee. Which is pretty normal breakfast. But most places offering that don’t care if you leave with it or go up to your room with it.

I went to move my daughter into her college dorm the check in process was easy and it was nicer then expected for the price

Gave me a pool pass code at check-in, but no mention that Pool area was chained and padlocked with a sign, that said hot tub spa was in need of repair and not to used till further notice. I was very disappointed and choose hotel for the spa pictures online. Everything else was comfortable and spacious.

The real headline: there was what appeared to be feces on one of the two beds.
The review: Checking in was fine. I had no delusions that this was the Ritz, but it had a 6 rating and Hotels.com said it was “Good.”
I feel bamboozled by both the hotel and Hotels.com.
The room was filthy, the shower was broken, there were multiple types of hair on the bathroom floor, the shower drain was broken, there was an old smashed spider on the wall, there were burn marks and bleach stains on the comforters, the box springs were falling apart, and, of course, there was what was pretty clearly a smear of poop on on of the sides of the bed.
When I informed the front desk of all of this, and that we were not staying, they were completely unphased. I may as well have told them that I needed an extra towel. This was clearly far from a unique situation, and in looking other places for reviews we found that to be the case. It has a 1 on yelp… a 1! But I trusted Hotels.com, which I will not do again. Nor will I ever stay at this hotel again and I will warn all other people who are going to San Luis Obispo to avoid Lamplighter Inn at all costs until it is completely redone and owned by other people. Or maybe if it were bulldozed because camping in a tent on the ruble would likely be a more comfortable experience.

Surprisingly nice place. Room was clean and comfortable.

I wouldn’t waste my money staying here. The property is run down and needs a lot of maintenance. There were ants in the bathroom crawling out of the cracks in and around the shower. The ac didn’t work. The tv didn’t work. The room had a musty smell and the carpets were stained.

Fine for the money. It’s tired. Holes in the walls, stained carpet, not a great cleaning job. Qtips on bathroom floor from previous tenant. Maids pounding on door at 9:30 despite do not disturb sign.

The hotel was clean and quiet, thete were only a few guests at the property as Cal Poly wasn't in session yet. The one draw back is there isn't any local channels on the tv menu. Nice staff!!

The room was OK. The bedspread was stained the TV wouldn’t get any channels and some of the outlets didn’t work. The staff was very friendly.

Nice room, comfortable beds. Can take a lot of time for elevators in morning and around checkout time. Also, ask for room not directly across from elevators as you can hear the whirring of the cables at all hours.

Sadly, the conditions of the room were not great. Missing knobs on the dresser and closet. Huge cracks un the tub enclosure and the toilet rocks.

The staff was very rude and the facilities (room and pool) were both filthy

The air conditioning is not really working. We would like to change the room but they told us that they are sold out. Actually they are not. I saw a lot of empty parking spots. There are only about 4 cars in the parking lot. There are some insects in the room and a bit noisy. We also lost some items when we left our luggage in the room while traveling. When we got back, our luggage was open and we lost some items. We talked to the front desk but nothing happen. It was a bad experience for me and my group.

My husband and I will never stay here again! Management named Joe is very rude unprofessional and is a RACIST he cussed at my husband and I and used racial slur towards us. The local police department was called due to the hotel manager loosing his temper. ( I video taped him yelling racist remarks towards us) I'm very disappointed and upset I could not believe the pure HATE coming out of the managers mouth.

I enjoyed my visit and look forward to returning.

Good location , not properly staffed

The room was spacious and clean. Amenities listed breakfast and pool/hot tub. The breakfast is packaged pastries, the hot tub had 2 inches of water in it and the pool had the shade umbrellas in it. So rooms were fine but amenities were mediocre.

Not happy! Worst experience ever! Room was gross, lots of broken things. Even got locked out of our own room.

Run down and dirty

Terrible experience. Black mold in bathroom and shower. As well as the AC unit. Faulty electrical outlets. The hot tub and pool were not available even though it was advertised that’s was which was the whole reason we booked it. Exposed wires and breaker box.

Hot tub broken. Was not disclosed. Room dirty and outdated. Would not recommend to anyone.

My room at the Lamplighter Inn was clean and in good condition, and when I booked it the very best price in town. It had a pleasant staff, fridge, and a pretty view of "Mount Madonna" peak. So 5 stars for that. But I deducted a star because it didn't have a microwave (they said it had probably been stolen, but they heated up my stuff downstairs). And the hot tub, which was featured in the very first photo on the ad, and one of the reasons I chose the hotel, was out of order (they said the had just gotten it repaired, but then it broke down again). Those things will probably be fixed, I hope. A HORRIBLE loud gas-powered leafblower destroyed the peace calm of guests and neighbors in the morning. A light breakfast of coffee and cellophane-wrapped local Edna Bakery pastries was included (but no fruit or yogurt). I'd stay there again.

1.- toilet water running all the time, toilet is loose 2.- there is a old cloth in one of the draws 3.- Guest yelling banging 4.- when I'm check out the system is no longer working still waiting for my bill

We got moved because the first room was not so clean. But the second room was much better.

Room was clean over all with the exception of the lights over the sink you could see the presence of mold and the fridge was dirty had left over food and was not in working condition so when we opened it the smell was awful
1.0
No one at the desk when I checked in nor when I checked out. A/C was not working. , the windo screen had a big hole in it so we couldn’t keep it open. And $150 security deposit? I think is a bit high for the poor condition of the place.
4.0
This property was very clean and nice. The only problem was a lady who was never in the front desk area. She was outside working on her car or in the pool. Other than that the other staff were super friendly and helpful!
