Everything was v clean. We stayed in the Wotter Room on the second floor. Yes it could all do with a bit of a paint in patches but the room is charming and huge. The view was amazing - we could see the fireworks in Plymouth the first night that we stayed.
Had a fab Nepalese curry on Wednesday followed by an Indian pudding which was delicious. Steak on the second night.
The hotel is on the edge of Dartmoor but close enough to the local tourist attractions.
We will definitely return.

A dated hotel which has charm but lacking finesse. We had the superior room which first impressions was great but the wallpaper was pealing, the shower didnt work and the jacuzzi bubbles didnt work. We had to kill several flies which woke up with the warmth. The room was cold on arrival but the heating turns on at 4.30 and then takes ages to reach the room although a small fan heater is provided

Staff are freindly and very attentive, genuinely good small team. Food was beautiful and service was great, all costs were proportionate and well worth the money, which was not expensive at all. Great getaway, peaceful and quiet, great location for walking, has a DIY laundry for when needed, art deco a little outdated but the hotel has changed hands many times lately, its clean and comfortable what more do you need. Will be back

The hote is in a remote area and needs an upgrade but is a great place for people that want to hike in the National Park across the road.

A warm welcome and friendly staff. The food is excellent and the room spacious. We would recommend this hotel for a stay on Dartmoor and also for a meal if you are just passing through.

I stayed in the largest room on the top floor which has a large comfy bed a desk and a corner sofa for lounging on to watch TV. Bathroom is large with good shower and jacuzzi bath. The view from the room is amazing looking down towards Plymouth Hoe in the distance.Evening meal was delicious (lamb madras) as was full English breakfast. Staff really nice and very friendly

The hotel is dated but excellent service and friendly staff made it a relaxing and welcoming break for me and my family including the dogs :) Moorland views and walks from your doorstep with a short drive to Plymouth and Yelverton and with the hotel restaurant and large bar area it made for stress free and relaxing place to gather as a family.

A very accommodating hotel. Based on the edge of the moors, the staff couldn't be any more helpful. We were there for a family get-together and the hotel staff managed to provide everything we asked for. The food was good and the chef even managed to offer an alternative menu option for our family celebration meal. Thanks for your numerous efforts.

The hotel is beautifully located right on the edge of the moor. You can walk straight out of the hotel onto the moor with great views down to Plymouth harbour in the distance and across the moor.
The hotel itself is not luxurious. It is quite tired looking. However if you want to stay a few days or a week and use it as a base for walking and exploring I am sure it would be great.
The breakfast was excellent and it looked as if the food wouuld be very good indeed. Sadly we were there for only one night so couldn't try it out in the evening having arrived late off the ferry

Arrived on Friday night and thought I had booked a table in the restaurant for an evening meal but had booked it for the wrong day. The restaurant was apparently fully booked for the night but after a quick chat with the chef they were able to accommodate me immediately. All the staff were very helpful through my stay and I will definitely be rebooking on my next visit down there.

Cannot fault my stay here Staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I was not even allowed to carry my own luggage to the room when they knew that I had some mobility issues with stairs.
Good food well presented and substantial portion sizes

It was ok, room was their most expensive but wallpaper was peeling in several areas. Moldy ceiling.
Breakfast was nice, served quickly and staff were friendly.
Bar is very reasonably priced.

Great welcome, comfortable bed, great shower pressure and a relaxing stay. Room was really clean with the exception of dust on the lamp base. Suggestion for even better review - iron the new curtains! Obviously they hadn't been pressed after removing from the packet. Costs nothing to do and gives a more caring impression, especially in a room whose decor is a little outdated.

Old fashioned but very comfortable room in a beautiful location. The only problem as the noise. The walls appear to be paper thin and every word from the guests in the adjoining rooms could be heard, every flush of the toilets and constant noise from the plumbing/pump system. It was a very bad night and I was glad to leave in the morning
