Train didn't bother me at all, but the doors into the hotel are spaced along its entire length and we're slamming a lot, the nose from them was much more of a nuisance, especially early in the morning.

For the price paid it was ok. Coffee maker not so good and room a little tired.
0.5 / 5.0
We were put in the basement. Bathroom was ridiculous as you had to close the door to get on the toilet.
My cousins room was way better for same price.
The carpet was dirty and again felt like we were in a dungeon. True story!

Room was comfortable and well appointed. Location was good. Structure and access were a bit awkward.

Reception staff was excellent.

Middle of the pack hotel that was overpriced and therefore not good value. No wonder tourism is down this year in BC interior. Be warned, train in back yard at 5 am both days.

Amenities are in a different hotel.
Lots of noise from the night train.
Very dated hotel.

The staff alerted us about the potential train whistle in the wee hours. BUT as it was right out our window in woke us in the wee hours both nights. There is no going back to sleep after, no matter what the time.

Not bad for price but would stay at sister hotel if ever in Nelson again

Good price, but train noise was crazy. Rail line right beside hotel.
5.0 / 5.0
Place is very clean, staff awsome and helpfull. bed very comfy.
4.0 / 5.0
Decent location, the railway is right beside the hotel so if your not into hearing the train go by at 06:00 then you might want to consider different accommodations.

Train shares the property line as well as a rail crossing where the passing trains have to blow their horns numerous times. The hotel includes ear plugs in their rooms. The facility has no food venue. The facility is showing its wear. Poor shower pressure. Parking is narrow. Not our first choice for the $200 per night stay

Great property close to water, parks and paths. The train does come by twice a night which you are not told until you’ve reserved. They do provide ear plugs though.
Be sure to request second floor for the nice view of the lake.

Average hotel. Some renovation investment made.

Never had shower curtain in room. Called front desk and they said none were available. Went down to front desk and they found one that I installed myself.

Recently priced close to shopping

There is a train in the back of the hotel and a busy road in the front. The AC unit woke us up every time it went on. The room was really small and the bathroom door hit the sink when you opened it. There was not table nor was there room for one, just one tiny end table off to the side.

Older hotel but great location. Great staff. I'll always stay here when I'm in the area.
The staff were very sweet to warn us about the train crossing right beside the hotel. I feel bad for them as anyone who knows the history of British Columbia knows the rail system is essential and shouldn't be seen as a bad thing. Embrace the history of this town and area and don't yell at the staff.

Other than the train that rolls past the hotel at 7am every morning it was a nice hotel and pleasant stay. The hotel makes its customers very aware of the train, but we decided it wasn’t a big deal. It’s mainly just the train sounding its horn as it crosses the tracks. Not that big of a deal. The staff was very friendly and always checked our room even though we didn’t ask them to.

Yes it's decent.

Expected more. Room small. Bathroom very small. Balcony dirty. Air conditioning noisy. No amenities. Couldn’t really get pop or water. Needed pay $20 more to get out of non air conditioned basement room.

Lovely place. Staff terrific. Would definitely stay here again.

Don't stay here if you have PET ALLERGIES. They do not have a set of rooms set aside as no pet rooms. They "generously" offered to get me a room at their sister hotel for an extra $197 a night (a discounted price). This place would be great if you were bringing your pet(s).
Overall, the room looked tired (baseboards missing, wallpaper starting to peel) but was clean. The shower had been recently renovated. The air conditioner was extremely loud. Also, the hotel backs onto railroad tracks with an unpredictable train schedule.

Not the greatest location in a really neat town.

A nice hotel in a good area. There was a train that went by a couple times, but it wasnt often or too bad. I would stay here again.
1.5 / 5.0
We arrived to our hotel, only to find that it is situated right next-door to the railway tracks and we’re woken up by the train in the middle of the night and in the morning! We were also very disappointed that we were not assigned a balcony with our room.
2.5 / 5.0
We upgraded because we were assigned a tiny basement room with no a/c. Window at ground level felt very unsafe. The room we got on main floor was ok. It’s located close to an exit and the noise of that door banging into the night and early morning left me with next to no sleep at all. Wouldn’t stay here again
