Overall, we enjoyed our 5 day stay. The property was as described pretty much, but needs maintenance and carpet/blinds replaced . The location was perfect. I was here for a golf tournament and the last 2 days were spent with friends in Petoskey.
The check in directions were clear. But having a key lock box with only 1 key proved to be an issue. Upon arriving we were able to get the key. I put it in my purse and took in my first load of luggage, leaving my purse inside. As I went back out to my car the door shut behind me and we were locked out😳!
I was able to reach someone from Vacasa and she had a local man call to help. Given he was not close by we were wondering what was going to happen next.. While waiting I decided to walk around and check the sliders to see if maybe they were unlocked. Lucky for us , it was so we could gain access. Not good knowing the place had been unlocked for however long. Would definitely recommend more than 1 key.
Another issue was that the heating/AC thermostat was not working. Upon entering it was already at 66 degrees inside. My husband tried to set the temperature up but it kept getting colder, while the upstairs was rather warm. The upstairs thermostat didn’t seem to work at all. We had to turn the system off/on to regulate the temp. The units system needs to be repaired.
We were suppose to be able to use the pool but never did locate a key card for entrance. I called Vacasa but never got that issue resolved so never used it.

We booked the condo through "Vrbo" app and then we were connected to "Vacasa" for anything related to the condo, Condo was as advertised, very clean, comfortable living room coach and beds mattresses. Quite neighborhood. received all info needed to get access on time and even we were able to get couple hours earlier, but we had one big problem that the code to get into the pool and spa did not work and we did not receive a link or a keycard to access the pool and spa, the rental company were responding to my text messages but they could not figure out how to get us access to the pool for our 3 days stay. I called the phone number for the association as listed in my rental agreement multiple times, but no one answered, and you cannot leave voice mail. The main reason I chose this condo and paid almost $1,200 for two nights was having a private pool and hot tub, so basically, I wasted my money, and my family did not enjoy the vacation as we planned and expected, we arrived Friday Aug 30 at 3 pm and left Sunday Sep 1st without getting the access to the pool! very disappointed.

Cons:
- they add a $250/day fee to your $250/day rate so it really is $500/day
- The first picture is not a picture of the "cottage" but a picture of the pool house
- The "cottage" is really a cookie-cutter condominium, as you have a million all over the US.
- We had trouble finding the "cottage", because we were looking for a stand-alone house, not a condominium.
- The "beach area" at the lake is the most pitiful display of a beach, especially if you see some worker spray roundup or some other chemical on the rocks nearby as you are checking it out.
- Everything is outdated in the condo, except for the kitchen appliances (think 1960s outlets and layout)
Pros:
- Good location, running distance to the Petoskey State Park
- Customer service was quick in its response (but perhaps it is a con that you have to contact the CS so much you know they respond back quickly)
We stayed in two houses in Michigan during our stay there, we give the Dragon House in White Cloud a 5-star, this one, euhm, somewhat lower

We enjoyed the pool and close proximity to all the area has to offer.

Property was clean and roomy. I do feel that the pictures online are deceiving. Deck was in need of repair and full of debris that we had to sweep off. Blinds in bedrooms and living roomwere missing slats and looked very worn. Bathroom door in primary looked like maybe previous guests might have gotten sick, splatter on back of door.

The house was spacious and other than some dead, northern Michigan ‘no-see-ums (tiny bugs) on the bedroom windowsills, it was very clean. The furniture and beds were very comfortable. A peaceful pond is just outside the unit and it’s just a short walk to beautiful Round Lake. Across the main road is the state park, where we were fortunate enough to capture the Northern Lights. The location was perfect for trips to the casino in Petoskey or the shops of Harbor Springs. Our only criticism was that there were no instructions upon arrival as to how to operate the television or gas fireplace…we fiddled with both but had no luck. I also had to contact the property managers asking about exit instructions. Overall, we would highly recommend Skipping Stone Cottage.

We had a wonderful stay at this home. 3 bathrooms all with showers was definitly a bonus with a large family. The home was beautiful with very nice bedrooms and a good amount of space for everyone. Would recommend!

Wonderful!

Condo was spacious and clean with a convenient location to stores, restaurants, the beach and much more! The indoor pool and hot tub were a nice add on and very clean as well. You can easily walk to the store, round lake or even the local ice cream shop!
Downtown Petoskey and Harbor Springs are both about a 10 minute drive and have wonderful shops and restaurants to enjoy.
About the condo:
The condo is furnished nicely and offered tons of options for pots, pans, utensils and even cleaning supplies! There are 3 full bathrooms which is very nice when everyone is ready to shower after a long day at the beach. Plenty of clean towels with extras in the linen closets and cabinets. Plus as an added bonus there were little travel bottles of shampoo and conditioner as well as a mini bar of soap in each of them. Very nice touch! If you want to do a quick load of laundry you can use the stacked washer and dryer. The beds we’re comfortable and there were many additional pillows and blankets if needed.
There were a few things that could be helpful suggestions. The master bedroom has a TON of windows and natural light coming in. If you like to sleep in past sunrise, bring a sleep mask. Also, it’s very hot upstairs and we had a few issues with the AC. May want to bring a fan. (We ended up buying fans for each room to try and stay comfortable.)
Overall great experience!
