Excellent and comfortable stay!

The room was perfect for what I needed, it was clean, comfortable and very friendly staff. Bathrooms cleanliness was a five star!

Great affordable stay

Everything! Good central location. Comfortable, clean room. Fridge and microwave in the room as well as cutlery and crockery! Excellent Wi-Fi. Easy check in and friendly staff. Amazing carpets

The only thing I didn’t like was that there was no bin in the bedroom

Great

This is my second time staying in aaran and I had a good experience just as the first time I stayed. Easy self check in, Super neat, very nice and helpful staff, good location, excellent facility, room setting perfect, feels like home. Definitely coming back.

Fridge, microwave, kettle and teas and coffees, sink in room

There was something in the air in the room I was initially allocated that caused stinging eyes, chest pain and a metallic taste in the mouth. The next day, I was given an upgrade to a much bigger room and bed, at no extra cost, which was appreciated. However, on moving in, there was a strong smell of paint. When I commented on this, I was told that the room had recently been painted. The window had to be left open for several hours to get rid of the odour, which made the room even colder than it had been on entering. The following day, despite the window having been closed for many hours by this time , the room, my hands, fingers and face were still very cold, even though the heating had been turned up for some time. I was told that the heating is on a timer. When I asked the times it comes on at, the person said he didn't know and walked off seemingly offended at this question. I was later provided with a portable heater and the room did eventually warm up by the evening. Just when I was putting the unpleasantries of the first couple of days behind me and looking forward to writing a positive review of my 4-night stay, on the last evening, a strong smell of paint entered the room and hung in the air throughout the night, making it impossible to sleep. Could also smell cigarette smoke outside the room on the last day.

The room would really benefit from a bedside lamp. Having to use the master light switch in the middle of the night is an adventure.

Good value for money, basic but comfortable, excellent location, good service.

The accommodation is fairly basic but clean and good value for money. Although the 2 bathrooms are shared, they are well appointed and warm. Proximity to Aberdeen city centre is good - 5 minute walk to Union Street,

The heating was a bit unpredictable. The central heating is only on for spells, and the infrared board heater didn't seem to be working. Power was showing, but no heat emitting. I've not used one before so I may not have been using it correctly.

Wonderful

Clean property , excellent reception, one of the best places I have lodged in the UK. Definitely recommend if you are in Aberdeen. The best part is it’s in the city center close to the rail station, bus park, union square.

A friendly, comfortable, low-frills stay for a good price in central Aberdeen!

A comfortable stay for the price paid! I wasn't able to find a hostel in Aberdeen, but this guesthouse was a nice budget alternative — way more affordable than a hotel, without sacrificing too much in the way of privacy. The place was clean and felt secure. There was a good heater in my room, which was very nice to come back to after walking around Aberdeen in the chilly October weather. The private single bedroom and the shared bathroom were both basic but were clean and served their purposes. A bath and hand towel were provided, and there was a kettle, tea, and instant coffee in the room. The guesthouse was just a few minutes' walk from the central streets and train station, so it was convenient for getting around the city on foot.

The blinds in my room were a little wonky — they didn't fully close so it was hard to block out the morning light (but it wasn't a big deal). The only other thing is that the checkout process wasn't explained at the start of my stay, so I needed to figure it out while I was leaving. The host left his phone number in the front hall in case guests had any questions, but I wasn't able to text because I didn't have a UK sim card. But that didn't end up being a huge issue either — the host is very friendly and responded quickly via the Booking.com messaging system when I messaged to ask how to check out.

Parfait pour découvrir la ville, mais attention aux grosses voitures pour le parking

Le Aaran est un très bon hôtel, bien placé et bien équipé. L'évier et le réfrigérateur dans la chambre sont un vrai plus ! Il y a des douches et des toilettes à tous les étages : aucun souci d'organisation.

Un léger manque d'explication à l'arrivée, nous aurons aimé avoir plus de détail sur le fonctionnement de la salle de bain par exemple, mais rien de bien méchant. Par contre, si vous avez une grosse voiture : le parking est très petit et dans une toute petite rue. Nous avions une Dacia Sandero, elle passe mais il ne faut pas plus gros.

For a stop off spot, my stay was comfortable and affordable

Location was great, room was comfortable and my stay was as expected for the evening.

Hard to find car park or know you were there upon arrival. Very much given a key and left to my own devices, however when I found the car park, I’d have appreciated some help finding my way to my room from the back entrance or offered support with luggage.

Just what I wanted.

Excellent location near train, ferry and shops. Very clean and quiet--perfect after a long flight. The staff were friendly and helpful. They let me store my bags for the day, which I greatly appreciated. It's excellent being able to book a single room, too.

No big supermarkets nearby.
