The location is good. The hotel is historically meaningful.
Poor sound insulation and washroom design.

The temperature throughout the hotel was too low.

Staff were super friendly. Location was amazing
Our first night. Pulled out the hide a bed for our daughter and it was filthy. Didn’t have a sheet set either. Called housekeeping and they sent a blanket.
My wife ended up borrowing a vacuum from them and vacuumed all the dirt and hair from previous guest
4.3
Beautiful property with numerous lounges
No water bottles in room

The hotel was beautiful, the room lovely and the general ambience what I had hoped for. It was a delight to stay there. The gentleman at the check in desk (who had worked in Australia) was very professional and inviting. The doorman (outside dealing with arriving cars) was funny and helpful.
We ate at the restaurant in the hotel the night we stayed. The food was excellent and so too the table service. The lady at the restaurant register desk though seemed to need a rest. She wasn't very enthusiastic and I felt probably wanted to be somewhere else. She was polite though and we appreciated her care.

Fantastic pool and a small gym, but one that's open 24/7, and the pool and hot tub are open until 1am. Very kind and helpful staff. Room service available 24/7 as well which is almost surprising to find these days. Very comfortable and clean rooms and Le Labo products were greatly appreciated.
Sometimes it was difficult to get correct information the hotel's bars and restaurants working hours. There are materials provided in the room, but the hours seem seasonal so you have to inquire with staff.

The food we ordered for room service was horrible the flatbread pizza has nothing more than ketchup on bread and the child's cheeseburgers were hard as rocks and cold plus the cost was almost $100

Expensive
Much too expensive

Room was beautiful, clean and a comfortable experience. Property was well manicured, pleasant experience.
I liked the room amd amenities. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and I enjoyed walking the hotel, shops and checking things out.

A fantastic hotel in a great position in the city.
It didn't live up the to hype. Within a very grand facade was a fairly average quality of hotel. The room was par. The service was ok. Missed the quality luxury touches. My daughters sofa bed was not made until asked for. Not as good as expected.

I booked two nights for my daughter and her new husband. They camped across country from Ottawa with their dog Maple. As avid campers and wild life enthusiasts - this trip was also their honeymoon . I thought what a wonderful memory a stay at The Empress would be for them , not mentioning how nice sleeping in a bed would be after week of camping in a tent.
When they arrived in their room they called me with such excitement seeing a dog bed available for their love Maple . They were so impressed with the room , their view of the harbour and parliament building thrilled my son in law. Thank you for making this possible because I had called in advance letting you know that the kids were on their honeymoon and I would appreciate if they could have a great view . Again thank you for providing this .
They also loved the breakfast. My son in law talked about the delicious bacon and my daughter loved everything. They were so impressed and asked me what type of room I booked for them because everything was amazing . They were also lucky to see orcas in their whale watching excursion and as they said” came back to The Empress to complete a perfect day “
This will be a lifetime memory for them and as as their mom , I couldn’t be happier that they enjoyed this experience as much as they did !
Thank you.

They didn’t say anything

Location and hospitality
In room lack of view and coffee facilities

Beautiful gardens, lovely food, easy access to inner harbour, valet parking, comfortable rooms, great pool and hot tub
Breakfast they take any body. We missed out and we are guests in the hotel.
4.3
Location was perfect.
We booked city view room. But only looked onto walls.
4.3
Pricy room in first floor facing to the garage with terrible A/C noise very ( very) dirty areas like the ice room. Unfortunatelly didn’t take photos

The upgrade to Gold Status is definitely worth every cent!!! Unbelievable service and stunning interior of the rooms
4.3
great location. booked a gold room which had access to the lounge and view patio, looking directly onto the harbor!
in room sofa not the most comfortable, but nice to have.
4.3
Spa and lounges. Beautiful and convenient.
Street noise from outside and no dark shades on windows.
4.3
Quiet, comfortable. Loved the large walk-in closet, a great place to put our things and keep the room tidy and neat. Also the nesprersso coffee maker was the Bomb! The best in room coffee we have ever had! Bought one when we got home. Although our room did not have a great view, the elevator lobby looked right over the harbor so weather coming or going we had a great view looking out the windows, also a great picture spot.
The ventilation system up grades ( box coming through floor) made a tight squeeze around the bed. Although a tight fit it did make the air flow quiet and nice. I work for a custom home builder and understand those things and the reason for the way they are done in existing structures.

Well located, historic, luxury

Our room was large with two beds for us and our son.
We had all we needed in the room…quality toiletries, coffee making facilities, large tv.
The bathroom was beautifully finished and had a great shower.
Despite having two beds with beautiful bed linen, the beds were very soft and not as comfortable as we hoped.
We had a ‘city view’ room but it was actually overlooking a back area of the hotel so we didn’t see much at all!

Location! Old charm, clean and if it was not for the long walk to our room from the elevator will say it was perfect!
4.3
Was not aware there was breakfast, was it included?
How far we had to walk to our room from lobby.
We appreciated being close to dining facilities.
4.3
central location
lacked elegance in landmark hotel
very tired looking property.
staff member who checked us in hotel was the most pleasant of all staff.
Otherwise, consistent, unwelcoming staff
4.3
Rooms were very nice, nice amenities in room.
Three days and never saw Winston. Carpets in main lobby areas looked worn - made the hotel look old. Only two restaurants of the five or six advertised were open, neither took dogs.
4.3
everything. The staff, especially the doormen / valets were exceptionally friendly, courteous, and professional.
