beautiful property, large rooms, good location downtown and the staff are all friendly!
everything about this property exceeded expectations
3.0
Comfortable room/bed. Super nice staff at check in.
No room service available for breakfast. Front desk clerk was unhelpful. Finally was given the option of takeout. Still no answer at restaurant, my husband walked down, ordered, brought it back and we barely had time to eat before leaving for an event.

It was clean and comfortable
Small elevator, expensive parking and they did not give drinking water in the room.
2.0
Staff was very nice.
Pictures were so misleading - room felt and looked old and super dingy. Corners of every room were dirty, windows were disgusting and home to many spiders.
4.0
Spacious quiet room. Comfortable bed. They let us check in a few hours early, which was greatly appreciated since we came from far away. Valet parking was very convenient.
There were only three towels for a suite for four people. Also, the shower takes a long time to get really hot.

I liked the bed, the big workdesk, and the location. I liked the digital safe in the closet. I liked the large bathroom. I liked the secluded room location. I liked the housekeeper for my room who helped me most out of all the staff while I was there; she heard me talking to myself about the room key being deactivated prior to my check out time, and she went downstairs to find out what was going on for me, and she told me I did not need to worry to rush for her to clean my room since I had waited at the front desk patient for 10 minutes to ask about my check out time but was ignored & then skipped over. The housekeeper was the nicest & most helpful employee I encountered during my stay. She should be thanked, because I was highly agitated & on my way back down to the front desk to share my agitation with the front desk staff who ignored me to begin with; the housekeeper heard me cursing at the elevator & she came to the rescue. I wish I knew her name bc really I should have tipped her but I did not think about it at the time bc I was losing my patience. The valet drivers were nice.
I did not like the pet fur on the corners of the mattress. I did not like the view (the outside fire escape stairwell & brick wall). I did not like the morning front desk procedure as there was no readily apparent concern to provide prompt service although I made it clear I needed to leave before I became late for work. I ended up late for work by 3 minutes (I work at the federal building around the corner). I did not like the commotion two guests in the next room made at 2 a.m. as they yelled at each other. I did not like being ignored & skipped while I waited at the front desk to ask about my check out time. I did not like that my card keys were deactivated prior to the late check-out time I had been granted. I did not like how rude the front desk man at 4 a.m. was to my colleague. I did not like the lack of vending machine. I did not like the dentql floss pick I found under the chair cushion in my room. I did not like the tv did not connect to the internet. I did not like the slow wifi or that my phone did not have a good signal in the room. I did not like the shower head was not removable nor adjustable for pressure of water flow. I did not like the grungy unfinished cement under the heat vent or the odd 3" hole in the floor next to it.

Great location!
Staff was friendly and helpful!
Large, clean room with good amenities!
We had an inside facing room so we didn’t have a view. looked out onto a large mechanical unit and brick walls so not much natural lighting inside.

Wonderful staff, huge rooms, very clean, comfortable bed. Just excellent.

The valet was friendly and helpful with our bags.
The restaurant was closed. There were no additional amenities. Room was musty.
If you regularly stay in a 4 star this hotel is NOT your place. We stayed here because we were traveling with our pet, our choices were limited and somehow it had good reviews.
The place needs a good overhaul and new management. The "art deco" walls were frightening.
This hotel is in need of some serious decorating/cleaning, updating

Breakfast was very good and the waiting staff very polite, quick and helpful. The valets were all very personable and helpful too. Location was excellent, directly opposite the Capitol and an easy walk to Shockoe Bottom and its various restaurants and cafes. Also an easy walk to the Edgar Allen Poe museum which I would highly recommend to fans and non-fans alike.
Can't really fault the place. Everything was great and we had a really nice stay.

Nothing, it was perfect!

the rooms were nicely designed and very comfortable.
small elevator but could easily deal with it.

Staff was wonderful! Friendly and helpful!
The noise of building air conditioning. My room #801 has only one window and it is facing inner court. Throughout the night there is a constant buzzing of industrial air conditioning. On top of that, another, more powerful, conditioner kicks in every 30 seconds and hums for 60 seconds. Entire night, on and off. I am rather resilient to noise but this is beyond tolerable.

The room was nice and the bathroom was also spacious. Having the provided products in the shower saved me from worrying about having to drag mine out. When we first arrived Jessica came out to greet us and gave an excellent suggestion of driving to our theater destination. When we arrived back we were greeted again at the door by Christina who happily checked us in while Kenny took great care in getting my car ready for valet parking. They both later gave a great suggestion for dinner. The next morning Sara took care of us for breakfast and was very helpful in helping us make plans for the day. I did not get the gentleman’s name that made my omelette but he made a great one! When we left it felt like we were saying goodbye to friends and I’ve never felt that way at a hotel. Chick fil a has nothing on your customer service and I can’t wait to return!

I liked how close it was to the Capitol. Unfortunately the Capitol ground are under renovations. We loved our suite and had great two nights in Richmond at The Commonwealth.
Wish the restaurant was open during normal hours. They only served breakfast on Sunday due to lack of staff.
