Valet Parking, The Staff AM & PM crew. The vibes for the down stairs lounge was everything.
No microwave in rooms

Great decor! Great location. The rooftop bar was nice. I liked that the hotel offers valet parking for $32 per night which was very reasonable in comparison to other places I’ve stayed.

Front desk staff was kind of rude. Our sink faucet wasn’t long enough to reach the sink and constantly flooded. Also did not appreciate being directly across the elevator, after a stressful check in.
4.5
Beautiful room
Check in could have been a little bit smoother.

Location worked great for us.
I had requested a room away from the elevator and it was the first room you get off of the elevator. Too tired from driving 3 hours to go back down and complain or request another room. Heard the loud elevator ringing all night.
Service and food at the Byrd house was not good. only 3 options on the menu to choose from, Ceviche was terrible. Could not charge anything to the room, system didn't work.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating
If you are going to charge $7 for a cup of coffee you should invest in better cups. Had two spill all over me because the lids are so loose and cheap
3.5
Beds very comfortable.
Air conditioner was very noisy. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room quite minimal. Usage not replaced when room serviced.

The location was fine but it was hard to say what else worked well. The car valet service was overall good but when we arrived cars were backed up on Franklin st waiting for service.
When we arrived we were sent to a room that was not ready. Then had to go back before being given a room that would work. The hotel bar was v.poor and like the Byrd House suited for young people but not a comfortable place to go.....we went to the Jefferson for a drink and it was not in the same universe.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, decent bed and shower, convenient location, use of re-fillable containers in the shower for soap, shampoo and conditioner.
Stained comforter, bathroom counter could have been cleaner, empty shampoo dispenser in the shower. No obvious container for recyclables.

Fan noise in bathroom

The location was great for visiting VCU. There were also lots of places to eat within walking distance. There were fun games to play in the lobby (PacMan, pool table, etc.).
The bathroom had some wear & tear, but all was good.

The shower in my bathroom wasn’t the best. it had loose parts and didn’t drain well. That’s my only complaint everything else was nice.

Big room
They put us in the wrong kind of room, then didn't have the one we booked available.
2.5
Comfortable with a great little bar downstairs. Dog themed version of a Holiday Inn Express. Updated modern touches in only the lobby areas. Cozy.
Rooms were old with a lot of paint and artwork covering peeling wallpaper, mildew and frayed carpet. Tiny single person bathroom. Dated HVAC unit. Toilet frequently wouldn’t fill, hot water was dangerously hot and no ironing board cover on the ironing board. In-room coffee maker didn’t work and still had old used filter inside. Beds were clean but carpeting was dirty with a greasy feel.

location
our 4 time here- services/ room have definitely fallen off
4.5
Booked the family suite and it was spacious and clean. Location was great. Sofa bed was surprisingly comfortable compared to other sofa beds.
The staff during check in and check out. During check in, the staff member was clearly frazzled and was scrambling. She had a lot of trouble with our check in and was looking around for help but no one came to help her. I gave her my ID and credit card and she couldnt find my booking although i booked in advance. It seemed like she gave our room to someone else and had to scramble to find a replacement for us. We ultimately got a room for our party but it was a long and unamicable experience. There was no line and we waited about 15/20min which is by far the longest I've ever had to wait for a hotel check in.
We also experienced rude behavior during check out because once the staff found out we prepaid through a third party site and didn't use the valet became rude/sour towards us.
TLDR - Good location, odd front desk staff, spacious clean rooms. Much cheaper on 3rd party sites ($100+ difference for us at the time)

Really spacious rooms with unique decor that makes you feel at home. Located in a nice neighborhood with friendly, helpful staff. I always get a great cup of coffee and a delicious meal at a Graduate hotel.
