This place still lingers in my mind. It’s so beautiful and the setting is so striking. The food was incredible, filet of kudu was outstanding, and dinner on the top of the rock (Eagles Nest) was such a breathtaking setting. The two pools, friendly staff and comfortable rooms were fantastic. The walks round the property, to Vingerklip rock and a trip zip lining at the nearest neighbouring lodge made this stay for our family. I loved it!
The only addition could be a mini fridge in the room, but this didn’t deter from our enjoyment of the place, and the free tea and coffee (and cake!) in the main lodge more than made up for this.

Just an amazing stay. We were friendly taken care of by mngr. Asser and his staff all the way. We stayed the night at their "Heavens Gate" bungalow - all by it self on top of the mountain. A short walk up the hill from the lodge, but sure worth it. Great dinner at the Eagles Nest. Amazing landscape all around. Incredible sunset. Everything worked out fine. We will be back.

Beautiful place to relax, sit by the pool and take in the views. Our favorite part was dinner up on the cliff side.
Location is beautiful but not really central to any of the main sites.

We booked Heaven’s Gate, which is a cottage on top of a mountain. The view from the cottage as well as the restaurant is breathtaking and the buffet at dinner was good.
1) The cottage was in a rather dirty state. There were animal/rodent droppings on the bathroom floor and towels and the pool water had not been cleaned for weeks.
2) To transport the luggage to the cottage on the mountain, the hotel uses a cable car. Unfortunately they did not secure our luggage well, which therefore was damaged. It was a hard case Rimowa suitcase, which was left with a huge dent (20 cm). The staff did not proactively flag the damage to us. When we raised the issue at checkout, the staff admitted that the suitcase was dropped and we were asked to write down details and promised that the management would get in contact for compensation. However, despite several reminders and two months later, we have still received no reply.

Vingerklip was better than expected, and we should have stayed another night to maximise the experience. The immediate rock formation featured could not be more accessible and attractive. The woman at the welcome desk was informative and characterful and did her job well. She set the tone of an organised establishment. The food was tasty and good value. We enjoyed the buffet as hungry travellers, and the chef accommodated second helpings. The room size and the air conditioner are a welcome relief. I loved the evening walk up to the Eagles Nest restaurant.
Maybe just that particular meal. The food was too salty and did not make it enjoyable. The male staff, waiter and chef at the buffet were grumpy. Could be that its been a long year and the staff need a break. But, this was a general trend we also found at the NWR lodges on our short 6-day experience of Namibia and Etosha. There was an unpleasant smell en route to our cottage that may well have been attended to while we were there.

Very pretty bungalows (2 rooms sharing 1 bungalow but there is sufficient privacy!) with the terrace facing the beautiful Ugab Terraces. 2 pools, one elevated viewing bungalow, nice bar where guests come together in the evening. Best thing however is the Eagle’s Nest Restaurant and sundowner spot high on the cliff - if it’s open, if you have a decent condition to climb up the walkway plus staircase and you don’t suffer from vertigo, do it!! You’ll be rewarded with a fantastic view and sunset high above the Vingerklip.
“Didn’t like” is a harsh word - just one potential improvement: the number of shady deck chairs around the pool areas were on the low side.

Sehr freundliches Personal.
Nature Drive ein Must!

+ Sehr bequeme Betten + Mosquitonetz

We thought booking a double room with "mountain view" meant we would have an unobstructed view of mountain. In reality we stayed at the sole chalet situated on top of the mountain with 360 degree views of the entire region. Although the chalet has it rough edges and is currently being refurbished, it was a spectacular experience. The Heaven's Gate chalet might be the most ideal romantic getaway bungalow in the country. You have to be fit though, it's quite a hike up the mountain.
Parking was tight.

location, rooms, view , friendly staff.
Drinks and food at fair prices.
breakfast a bit limited, nice to have a cook baking omelet/ bacon , but in a 1 by one way was not very efficient. I skipped this rather than to wait 20 minutes in line.

Majestic views and just really amazing overall. Cherry on top of the cake.. Definitely the walk to the top of the mountain. Your trip ain't really complete without this, so do yourself a favour and take on that 15-20 minute walk/climb to the to, the view is totally amazing. A gorgeous little restaurant at the top where you can enjoy an ice cold refreshing drink and some dinner. Vingerklip Lodge has my stamp of approval💯💯

Great staff.
The sunken pool in the bath was Awkward and somewhat dangerous in the dark.
Electrical switches were not connected to lights other than the deck lamps.

The location of this lodge is amazing! It's like a Monument Valley, only on a different continent. The lodge is built on a ridge and has beautiful views in all directions. The semi-detached bungalow was very clean and comfortable, the terrace was nice to sit in the evening when the temperature cools down a bit. Food was good, I especially enjoyed the thinly sliced kudu fillet (best meat I had in Namibia) and gnu chilli con carne. The second evening we booked dinner at the Eagle's Nest restaurant on top of the cliffs - totally worth it! There are different hiking trails starting at the lodge, we did the big loop and really enjoyed it. A sunset walk to the Vingerklip rock is a good option before dinner. And there are two pools to relax at when it is too hot to do anything else.
The service was a bit variable. Most of the staff were really lovely, but a few of them were behaving like they would rather be somewhere else. It didn't spoil our stay in any way but it felt a bit weird.

One of the most stunning places to stay in Namibia with a breathtaking views and great pools
The rooms are a bit outdated and would need renovations. The offered dinner is limited and not what you would expect from a lodge like this
4.5 / 5.0
We had a nice room with a view of the waterhole, and saw Kudus there. The walk up the bar on the rock was rewarding with a sundowner drink overlooking the absolutely stunning landscape surrounding the lodge. That looked rather unreal. Everything was fine, unfortunately we only could book one night, because the intended second night the logde was already completely booked
personally I don't know if a Koi pond in such a dry surrounding is really neccessary, but that is just based on personal opinion and does not take anything away from the lodge
