I booked this hotel, because I was a student guest in this hotel for 6 weeks in 1967 & the location was so close to the zocalo.
The beds were too hard, but as soon as we told the hotel, they went about correcting it asap. Although the bed on our second night was better, it still was too hard for those of us with back problems. If we had asked again, I’m sure they would have done their best, but it was only for two nights.

The vegetable salad was perfectly steamed and presented. The meat dish the night before was ruined by too much salt in the gravy. Waiters were excellent and attentive.
4.0
Breakfast was good, the staff were friendly and provided excellent service and the location was perfect.
The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. I was often stiff in the morning.

The view from the terrace is fantastic….but they need a cafe up there

Excellent location right in the middle of Centro. The hotel itself is old, grand, and outdated, but mostly in a charming way. It is clean and the staff is present and helpful. Great view from the roof.
There are amenities lacking, like an elevator, and even small things like a soap dish in the shower. The hotel is clearly from a long time ago--as I wrote, it's outdated mostly in a charming way. It more than makes up for these faults by being great value for money.

We loved the hotel and restaurant. The breakfast was delicious. The location to the shops and restaurants was great.
I was disappointed in booking.com and will probably not use you guys again because you charged a higher price than if I had called and made the reservation myself.

If you want to stay in a hotel with a lot of history, then go for Hotel Colonial. Our room was large, with high ceilings and a great view to the courtyard. The room was airy and breezy, perfect for those hot Mexican days.
They have an upstairs inner courtyard with lots of native plants. And upstairs they have a great view of the nearby cathedrals. I would highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Puebla.
It is right in the center, honestly can’t get any closer. There are shops, markets, and the zocalo nearby.
Unfortunately we didn’t try the restaurant, but when we come back, we will.
We had one amazing male receptionist who helped us a lot with our many needs and questions. I’m sure he was somewhat annoyed but he always helped. But the girl receptionist barely gave us a glance, and I still think for a hotel with so much rich history that can attract international clients, she should learn English.
They could also improve their Wi-Fi, mainly at the reception area. (Wi-Fi in our room was fine) Since our female host couldn’t speak English, we needed google translate but we couldn’t use that because there was barely Wi-Fi.
Also bring ear plugs. Like old hotels, they rarely took into consideration street noises so you could hear everything, even the mariachi or the theatre groups.

the staff are knowledgeable and hospitable- especially the waiters in the restaurant. breakfast is a treat. the rooms are clean and lovely. the surrounding streets can be noisy late into the night given surrounding nightlife but the hotel is a peaceful oasis. I have recommended it to many friends and family,

Another key would have been nice

Location was great, despite on busy street, windows are good quality and keep room quiet. Great and busy restaurant in hotel. Amazing colonial architecture. Helpful staff which always opened me doors even at 4am😃
First I got room which looked much worse than what I booked, but after I complained, I got better, bigger and with balconies as it supposed to be. Bathroom was really old, but worked. No option with breakfast included, but that's kind of standard in Mexico

Beautiful historic building and decor and plants and wonderful upscale restaurant was like a movie set. Room very spacious and nice baconies overlooking nice pedestrian walk way and historic church. Very quiet good soundproofing. Good staff.
Beds were hard mattress no springs, and room very cold in winter as most historic places don't have central heat or air, but no space heaters available. No way to use bathtub as there was no plug for drain. No chair of any kind in the room. Shower very weak, common in historic buildings.

The mole is phenomenal, location is great and the building wonderful.
Leaving Puebla and this place.

Location is very good, rooftop view amazing, breakfast was good as well and the person who served us at breakfast was very smiley and friendly person who made the stay a bit better
so cold in the rooms in the evenings and early mornings you have to go in the bed immediately and cover yourself up. unfriendly and unwelcoming staff at the reception who barely looked at us at check in. they’ve charged us 800 pesos for laundry service which is kinda insane for a normal amount of laundry. in general, for a hotel that pretends to be an upper class place it was very disappointing.

Location is great. Lovely view from balcony. Hotel has history and character.
The musician at the hotel's outdoor restaurant plays the same melancholy pieces over and over all afternoon almost every day. He is a fine musician but a little more variety, including some cheerful pieces, would have been appreciated, as the playing is amplified and can be heard in the private rooms.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very nice and close to everything.
It's honestly the only thing, the beds are a bit hard, but out of there, I would return without thinking twice

Great breakfast. Unfortunately no more menus unless you have a smart phone .
Printed menus for older customers
4.5
Great beds. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent location. Clean and beautiful.
The restaurant assumes everyone uses a smart phone to read menu. This was upsetting for elderly parents . I think they should still have printed versions available.
3.1
Lively colonial building as if it were once a monastery.. kind staff
Terrible wifi !! A hardship in today’s world of cancelled flights due to covid
And only 3 Spanish channels… think it’s time to update technology

Very clean. It’s a very well kept facility. The building is charming and elegant but has a relaxed atmosphere.

Location is the best for historic Puebla. The view from the roof top is spectacular.
