Pleasant enough but not excellent

Overall a pleasant stay. The staff is professional - although not overly friendly. The rooms are clean , the food in the restaurant is very good and the direct access to the beach can't be beat. Rooms had AC which was really needed and for the most part the setting is very quiet. I didn't use the pool but there is a small pool you will have almost all to yourself.

The big thing for me is the price. 450$ USD for 3 nights just wasn't worth it. I don't mind splurging but I didn't feel it was worth it based on the room itself. It was clean indeed but not modern and quite small. Compared to what I paid in Medellín and Bogota it just seemed extremely expensive- as well as the food in the restaurant which also seemed quite pricy by Colombian standards. Plus , unless you have a car, you have no other option than to eat at the hotel. I requested a quiet room and was given a room facing the outside of the hotel and on the first morning , was woken up very early by workers talking outside my window. Plus, given the presence of workers and being on ground floor , I couldn't open my curtains. The reception did say they would try to get me a new room but never followed up ! On one occasion , I rang the doorbell coming back from the beach and waited over 15 mins for someone to finally open (I had to ask a guest to call reception ). When I told the staff I was waiting for a while, they seemed so non chalant and just said " que pena". For those incidents and the price , I cannot give it a 10. The stay was mostly fine but not exceptional. Even when I left, I found the staff to be quite cold. The manager on the other hand was nice and professional.

A quiet alternative to staying in Santa Marta

The hotel is situated in a very quiet area about 20 mins by taxi out of Santa Marta. It is set well back from a road with no through traffic. The hotel has only about 11 rooms. Although it has high rise condominiums to one side and direct access to the beach through a private gate it remains mostly quiet. The hotel is in a small garden with a small pool and a few loungers. It also has outside tables and chairs where you can take breakfast The room was reasonably spacious, comfortable and had a sea facing balcony. There was a safe and plenty of space for belongings. It was very clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was cooked to order and was very good.

This was the only hotel in Colombia where we were not offered a welcome drink. We were however given a list of rules of dos and don'ts with associated penalties which we were required to sign before we could check in. Not the best welcome to the hotel! The shower in the room was particularly useless. It changed temperature during the shower from extremely hot to very cold without touching the controls.

Great location and excellent service

Quiet getaway from the busy beach. The food and drinks are amazing, and it's served right to your sunbed. We had a relaxing stay before we went to the airport the next morning.

The place is beautiful, well located, very clean, rooms comfortable and the staff is very nice. The pool zone is very agreeable with comfortable chairs. Everything very well taken care of. No broken things.

A nice boutique hotel right on the beach

It is a great boutique hotel that is conveniently located right on the beach ( 11 rooms in total, adults only). Calm water for swimming, which was very important for us, little cabanas/ enclosed tents ( 3 of those) that fit 4 chairs for lounging on the beach. Courteous front desk staff, speak English. Pretty view from the balcony and a nice homey decor in the common srea. A very nice made to order breakfast, a choice of 4 breakfasts to pick from, although with watery juice. Moderately priced food and drinks at the restaurant/bar. The AC was quiet and worked well. The water pressure was consistently good, which I read is a problem in some other hotels.

The room wasn't cleaned properly before our arrival in the evening, some dirt on the floor. You need to carry your chairs from the hotel to the beach in the morning. Staff at the bar/restaurant doesn't speak any English, although the menu in English is available, so it wasn't a big deal for us. The bar closes at 8pm, might be inconvenient for those staying at the hotel in the evening as there are not many food options in the near proximity. We visited Santa Marta every evening, so, again, wasn't a big deal for us. No water or coffee maker provided in the room ( water in the fridge is for purchase I believe), which some might find inconvenient. We like firm mattresses, but it could be a bit too firm for some. The room was on a small size with a tiny side table and 1 chair. There are 2 AC units in the common area, but they were turned on only once per the owner's family wishes.

I have stayed here often. A great garden setting and pool. The staff were extremely helpful. Fantastic breakfast.

Excellent place, highly recommend to chill and have a proper rest!

The Hotel felt very exclusive, right on the beach, and staff were absolutely brilliant. Everyone was friendly, helpful and always smiling. I spoke to a few and they said they like working there. I also met the owner - I didnt know he was the owner until later - and he was lovely, interested in knowing a bit about us and what we think of Colombia. Later we spoke to staff and they all said they like the oweners and they really care about the place and treat everyone well. The room was also super clean and confortable. Facilities were lovelly with tables for dinning near the pool, also louging chairs and hammocks around the garden. Great place to chill, read a book, have a drinks by the pool or the beach. It's very quiet overall - which you will apreciate as there is music and party in everywhere in this part of Colombia. It's peaceful and loads of nature around. Breakfast was lovely, fulfilling and we spotted so many different kind of birds near us every day while having breakfast by the pool. Also felt very safe inside, completely safe. Outside during the day as well (just dont leave stuff on the beach unatended), only at night that is not recommended to walk around. Overall we felt saver than Cartagena. The area was okay, but it's a bit far from Santa Marta (mainly because of traffic), in a neighbourhood with mainly condominiums and partment buildings. Cabs are cheap and Casa Verano can call one for you in minutes. Very convinient. The house itself, although it surrunded by building has a lovely garden full o plants and trees, also a large green area next door with lots of trees and birds, which give the impression is near nature, and the beach in front of the property. It's a great place to chill, go to the beach, do a tour here and there and spend time on the pool and the jacuzi. Excellent place, highly recommend. We loved it and really enjoed our time here. Thanks to everyone from Casa Verano.

Not a negative, just to consider depending on your plans. If you want to party this It's a bit far from Santa Marta but mainly because of traffic. By car it can take 20 min without traffic, to an hour around rush hour. But this is not a problem as Santa Marta is lively and we really apreciated the peace and quiet when we came back to the hotel, every time :-)

A fantastic hotel, situated on the beach, with lovely gardens and a pool in Santa Marta.

A small boutique hotel which guarantees an exceptional level of service and offers the opportunity to relax and enjoy the hotel and its grounds. The hotel is situated on the beach and offers lovely gardens and a pool and jacuzzi. The staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive. The menu, although small, offers great local dishes, which we found to be delicious- the ceviche was fantastic. The WiFi was also very good, which was important as we needed to do some work on a couple of days.

I honestly can’t think of a single thing that we did not like.

my wife and I had a fantastic time relaxing by the pool, enjoying Luis’ tasty drinks at the bar, and eating some of the

small resort with well maintained facilities, safe and secure, beautiful pool area with restaurant and bar, service was awesome attentive and always helpful, fantastic beach area that is quiet dandy and perfect for sunsets

not very walkable around the resort, but really don’t need to leave, they have everything you need

if you dont need to eat or drink. be good for you

make you buy your drinks with the hotel. very over priced. I would not return. there are too many hidden charges. I own a few hotels and this is not a good practice. and the reason I will not return. the hotel is not transparent. too many surprises at check out

Superb

very nice hotel directly at the beach. own pool. small hotel. I guess only 10 rooms. if you want to have your privacy there. it’s the right place. great breakfast. very friendly stuff. big rooms. comfortable rooms. direct access to the beach. delicious pina colada’s. private pool where you always have your space.

unfortunately it’s a bit far from Santa Marta. but this we knew before :-)

Hidden Paradise

What a beautiful little hidden gem. If peace and quiet with rest and relaxation at an extremely reasonable cost is what you are looking for, this is your spot. The attention we received from the staff, Luis, Hector and Jesus was above and beyond. Yerson at the front desk is really pleasant. My room was super clean. The beds very clean and comfortable. They have a seating area with a fantastic view of the grounds. They offer a delicious complimentary breakfast. The decorum of the entire place is like having a home away from home. Being around the pool is like surrounding yourself in total paradise with their beautiful gardens, sounds of the ocean waves and the feel of the breeze. The beach access is steps from the pool. The climate is very hot but you can cool yourself off either at the pool or the ocean. I strongly recommend getting a massage from Daniela. She's great and you get a massage while listening to the ocean waves.

Just outstanding!

Absolutely sublime experience. Check in was smooth, we were greeted with pure professionalism and accommodation. The hotel foyer itself is beautifully aesthetic, with dark wood decor. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order every morning and very tasty, fresh juice and coffee/tea/hot chocolate. The staff were friendly, courteous, professional and kind, nothing was ever too much of an ask. The pool and jacuzzi were warm and beautifully lit up at night. The beach was literally outside the back gate and you could hear the waves washing against the shore whilst in the garden. Food and drinks were reasonable and good selection. I had the ceviche and fish and my partner had vegetarian food which was also available. Despite the kitchen closing at 7pm, there was always the availability to order food and drinks for delivery from a menu which the receptionist can provide upon request. Overall, a luxurious couple of days that couldn't have been better. Oh, and to top it all off, when we were leaving for the airport at 0400 for a very early flight, the receptionist had already organised a packed lunch for us free of charge as an "early breakfast"! We had the most wonderful time and will absolutely be back again. We couldn't recommend it more! Please keep up the excellent, bespoke service - it goes such a long way!

I wish we could have stayed for longer.
