About this cabin rental
Follow Chestnut Lane's winding dirt road to the second to last cabin on the left. Here you'll find the Dragonflies Den, haven of solitude nestled on the quiet shores of Quimby Pond. You can choose to park at the upper overflow lot, or down on the gravel driveway next to the rough sawn lumber shed and garage. You'll find a boat rack well stocked with canoes, kayaks, life jackets, swim floats and such. Open the front door to the cabin and you're greeted with a well-appointed kitchen. To your right is the laundry room. You can hang your outdoor gear in one of the two coat closets just inside the door. Down the hallway to your right are the four bedrooms, consisting of two queen bedrooms, one bedroom with two twin beds, and one bedroom with a twin bunk bed. Amongst these is the first full bath. Back down the hall and across from the kitchen you'll find the dining room, with a rustic picnic table next to a beautiful stone fireplace, both with a palatial view out a large window of placid Quimby Pond. Enjoy your meals as you watch ducks doing the same off the front lawn, while the loons glide across the surface of the water in the background. Through a small door you find the last of our rooms, the spacious Gathering Room. Here we have a couch, loveseat and oversized armchair, all power recline with a 50-inch TV, DVD player, and collection of DVDs. Prefer something a little more low-key? There's also a varied selection of books, board games, or just warm your feet by the wood stove, enjoying the views out of the numerous windows. But what else is there to do? Spring brings legendary fly fishing just out your front door. Summer fishing continues with the addition of swimming, hiking, biking, wildlife watching and motor sports. The town comes to life as well with a wide variety of delicious restaurants, theater, beaches and recreational activities. Autumn approaching? Here the leaf peeping can’t be beat, and wildlife abounds as deer, bear, birds and such ready themselves for winter. As we move into the last season Rangely turns into a haven for snowmobilers. With original taxidermy and rustic art throughout this camp, along with the rare privacy of this property you’re assured a vacation you won’t soon forget.

We would like to say a few things that were somewhat negative, we are very sorry to say what we want the hostess and others to know about about our stay. After the first night we realized that we had SEVERAL MICE running around. We must have seen over 13 as we were watching a video. Yes we went and bought mice traps and caught many of them. Also when we were grilling outdoors the second night the propane tank ran out of gas on us. Having the canoes and kayaks was wonderful. The stove was amazing and the dishwasher the very best. All in all it was a delightful vacation, mostly in the RAIN, but that sure is not anyones fault!! Thank you hostess.

The property is well equipped for a fun family stay. Plenty of bedrooms. A very comfortable living room that is well stocked with books, even for kids, and a good video library.
The canoes and kayaks were great to explore the pond. It was fun finding the ducks, frogs and dragonfly's while paddling around the pond.
The kitchen was well equipped, and the commercial grade stove made preparing food easy.
I would definitely return again.
Thanks to the host Melanie for helping make great family memories.

Overall excellent stay. Enjoyed kayaking on pond and watching loons, ducks and eagle. Cabin clean, well equipped and private.

This house was perfect for my relaxing family vacation, we went kayaking, and relaxed outside for most of the day in the warm sun and at night had a camp fire with smores. The inside of the house was spacious and fit all 6 comfortably.

I really enjoyed staying here. The house was very clean and the kitchen in particular was really wonderful. Cooking at the stove with a view of the water was amazing! The water isn’t super great for swimming and because it is so shallow we saw a couple leeches but one of my friends did go swimming though and enjoyed it! Several of us kayaked and it was really great for kayaking. There were 7 of us total and it fit us all very comfortably. There’s also excellent opportunity for seeing a lot of wildlife. We saw a bald eagle swim in the water and catch a fish which was so cool! The property is secluded and very private, but not far from town. It’s also pretty close to Rangeley Lake State Park and we spent an afternoon there - it is stunning there and the water is perfect. I definitely recommend staying here.

All was great except there was no dock as shown online! Would have given a 10 rating with dock!

A very quiet and pleasant location. Very comfortable camp, nice beds, well stocked kitchen, nice new appliances. It is right on the water which we loved. We also loved that the pond is motor boat free so all we heard were the loons. Great camp and will definitely be going back again.

The camp is spacious with an exceptional floor plan. The kitchen and dining area is awesome with a well designed and applianced kitchen and a beautiful view of the pond. The bedrooms were ample with modern beds and very good lighting. Two full baths were updated, clean and enjoyable. A separate spacious area for relaxing had abundant and comfortable seating along with a well equiped and porportioned entertainment center making this camp quite unique. Overall, we really liked what this camp had to offer.

My family, friends and I rented it because it was in the path of totality for the eclipse. We absolutely loved the cozy feeling of this place. The kitchen, fireplace, wood stove, wall mounts and decor. Its practically my dream house and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

This is a fantastic rental. The space was large and clean and had everything we were looking for inside, including a very nice kitchen and common areas. There is a big picture window that looks right out onto the pond - which is actually quite large. There is a nice grassy area to sit outside in front of the pond. We enjoyed taking the canoes and kayaks out, and we enjoyed the fire pit. The location was a short drive to town and Rangeley lake. We would definitely come back.

Communication with Melanie was prompt and very accommodating, even new bedroom window coverings. Quiet, beautiful spot on the water. Clean, comfortable cabin. Impressive animal mounts, all from the owners. Would highly recommend it. Hope to return again sometime.

Our stay was pleasant for the most part, but a deep clean of the property would be recommended. Cobwebs adorn most of the place and there were dead bugs in one of the beds when we pulled the covers. We found a wet bathing suit top in the couch and the garbage was half full upon arrival. Check in/check out was easy and Melanie allowed for early check in and late check out. Communication with host was prompt and accommodating. The pond in front was lovely to canoe/kayak, however swimming is kind of yucky - very shallow and slimy with lots of pond vegetation. Location was central. Kitchen is well stocked.

Melanie is a treat! Best communication of all the Vrbo we’ve stayed at. Gave us a bunch of tips on places to go that suited our interests. Property as described… if only Melanie could control the weather (it rained all week) would recommend for individuals, families and couples. Thanks for sharing your home with us , Melanie!

Quiet and beautiful spot. Very comfortable home. Taxidermy might be startling to some visitors.

We had a great time, enough space for relaxing with family and keeping up on laundry and cooking. I have to say it wasn’t swimming we hoped to have but it’s tough to compare to the area on student island that half of the week some of us were at. Kayaking was great, I now want a two person kayak! The kids loved catching the bull frog but the leach kinda freaked me out. They loved it though. We would of liked knowing the history of the the animals and bones there and if they had a story behind them. Maybe a journal of other people stay would of been nice to add too. Thank you for opening your home to us!

We had an excellent weekend! The host was very responsive and super helpful! Not only did she provide a great cabin right on the water, but she provided helpful resources of points of interest that made our trip three times better than it would have been. The cabin was clean, had all we needed, and the location was perfect! The description is 100% accurate. The host was hospitable, didn’t mind answering my questions, and has the best personality ever! Loved, loved our stay!

We visited Rangeley first weekend of October and the leaves were beautiful! The property was clean… the location was great…. The views were scenic and tranquil. We had an amazing time with family and kids and would return in a heartbeat! My kids especially loved all the random toys in the closet.

relaxing and secluded
Great place and secluded and that is what we were looking for. I was a little disappointed in the shore line. My dogs played in the water mostly. I tried going in with water shoes on and I needed to come out to mucky - I personally wouldn't swim in it. The dogs didn't mind...they sure loved the water! I went out in the kayak and the canoe and that was so fun and able to see the whole pond and the foliage this time was amazing! Our view and the window looking out to the water was my favorite. I do have to say I would rent again just to deal with Melanie - she was great. But everything was great and we enjoyed our well needed vacation! Thanks again!

Authentic Maine Camp
Loved the privacy of the location, with only sounds heard were loons calling. We spent hours outside on the Adirondack chairs and inside in the lounge chairs enjoying the view ofthe pond with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The camp was located just a short drive to a town in either direction with grocery stores , shops and restaurants, as well as hikes and areas to explore. The interior of the camp was uniquely dorated in the "Maine Camp" style . Every place you looked, you saw something interesting. The Gathering Room had comfortable seating for several people, as well a a good view of the Lake. We enjoyed use of the canoes and paddled across pond one afternoon.
Melanie was easy to contact when we had questions.

Wonderful place to get away!!!
Absolutely loved it! The first moment we came inside we were thrilled! The house all over was awesome and the outside was wonderful! Plenty of space and plenty of things to do. The kayaks were amazing, and everything was quiet and calm around. Would definitely recommend this place! Hoping to be coming back soon!

Heaven at the Dragon Fly Den
We had a great week at Quimby Pond! The location was very secluded and the dogs and kids had a blast in the yard, woods, and on the pond. Water shoes are good or swimming and floats to get out where it is deeper. We spent a few days swimming at the state park and it was practically empty. We rented a boat in Rangeley Lake one day and went mountain biking at Sugarloaf. Hiking Bald Mt js a must do. The house is great! The kitchen had everything we needed. If you have a big group bring some more towels along. Melanie was very responsive and helped us out whenever we had a question. This was our first vacation in Rangeley and can’t wait to go back! Than you!

Excellent home and location!
Can't say enough positive things about both the cabin and the secluded location. VERY well stocked, lovely kitchen, views galore, lots of comfy furniture and beds, and great canoes and kayaks. The area is lovely - Rangeley is less than 10 minutes away - and so many hikes, ATV's and swimming holes and adventures to be had..can't recommend it enough - for dogs and kids alike!! Many thanks!!

The cabin was perfect
Everything you could want was right there. We loved going out on the canoe everyday. We sat for hours just watching the two families of ducks. The views were spectacular. We loved listening to the loons every night. It was a relaxing breath of fresh air vacation. The host was terrific and the people in town were great. I actually cried when we had to leave. AWESOME VACATION

Perfect spot!!!
This cabin was the perfect place to relax and unwind! The location is perfect and so serene! The pond is crystal clear! The area is quiet & peaceful. we were lucky enough to be up there at peak fall foliage, absolutely stunning. We enjoyed some adventures locally (within a 40 min drive)& went on some fantastic hikes. Melanie was so easy to contact, although we didn't need to much. The camp was fully stocked with linens, towels, etc. Bring an extra blanket to snuggle up on the couch on chilly nights. We, as well as our dogs, absolutely loved our experience here. Hoping to return again!

Peace and Quiet on Quimby Pond
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Rangeley ME on Quimby Pond. The house was cozy and had a great view of the water. Plus, it was super easy to launch kayaks and paddle around the pond. We did some great hikes in the area, and had a fantastic dinner from The Shed BBQ. (It was amazing!)
The best part was sitting outside looking out over the water in the early morning with a cup of coffee listening to the loons calling out on the water in the mist. And again at night watching the stars come out one by one until the sky was full. Amazing.

Cozy and Inviting
The property looks just like the pictures! The sunrise in the morning glistening off the water is simply beautiful. My family really enjoyed the quietness of the camp it was very serene. And Melanie was a perfect hostess. She had everything set up for us once we arrived to the camp. And if we needed anything during our stay she was very helpful. My family would definitely go back to that beautiful camp...

Perfect waterfront retreat
Melanie was the hostess with the mostess. We were welcomed with enthusiasm and local tips weeks before arrival. The stay was easy and very accommodating, watching beautiful sunsets while paddling the sleepy pond. Dogs were happy and we enjoyed the DVD player and home theater set-up with the wood-burning stove. A wonderful four days!

Quiet, secluded, and right on the pond
Very much a “getaway”. Despite a bit of rainy and chilly weather for late summer, enjoyed paddling on the pond and had the water just about to ourselves. Kitchen was well supplied, in general, with equipment and spices. Only thing missing was cooking oil. Generally simple, rustic hunting lodge decor but perfectly comfortable and very clean. Owners were responsive and helpful with clarifying questions, but not at all obtrusive. Hiked angel Falls and Bald Mountain, enjoyed views at Height of Land.

A True Maine Experience
Owners were great to deal with...always responded quickly. This cabin in the woods on a (very large) pond was exactly what we were looking for in a vacation! There were kayaks & canoes for the pond as well as Adirondack chairs, hammock, fire pit, grill & an awesome picnic table. The town of Oquossoc & town of Rangeley were each about a 10 minute drive away for whatever you needed. On our adventures, we saw plenty of red squirrels, loons, ducks, a bald eagle, moose, ruffed grouse & a family of beavers. We are a family with 2 adults & 2 teens - plenty of room for everyone. If you are looking for an authentic Maine cabin with everything you need - this is definitely for you! We loved it!

Quaint spot for a family getaway!
We only had a short time there, but all and all it was relaxing. Unfortunately there was a tropical storm on our one full day there, but we made the best of it! Plenty of space inside for our large family even on a rainy day. Plenty of canoes/kayaks for our family to all enjoy! The owners are very helpful and kind!

Very pretty property. Felt bad that we had to text the owner with a few questions now and then. Just to cut that down, written instructions at he house would be cool
