About this farm stay rental
Smack dab between Northeast Harbor (5 min) and Bar Harbor (10 min) this fully renovated Maine home has all the comforts of a new home with all the charm of a historic maine farmhouse. Giant tub and rain shower downstairs, spa shower with dual water heads upstairs, fully stocked chef's kitchen, granite fireplace are among the features to make your stay comfortable.
The home is conveniently located on Sound drive on a 1.5 wooded acre lot with a beautiful flower garden, mature lilac bushes and crabapple trees. A short walk along Sound Drive to the entrance of the Giant Slide Trail brings you directly into Acadia National Park for hiking and a five minute ride in either direction brings you to Eagle Lake or Upper Hadlock for biking. Acadia at your fingertips (and hiking boots)!
After a day of hiking and popovers at the Jordan Pond House, put your lobsters on to boil while the family gathers around the square dining table (seats 8, dishes, silver and linens for 12-16) then its over to the fireplace for drinks, snacks and games or choose a movie from the huge dvd selection... A perfect end to a perfect day in Acadia...
Three second floor bedrooms with 1 King, 1 queen size bed and 1 full size bed and gorgeous linens sleep two each and share a full bathroom. The 3rd floor bedroom has its own half bath and has four twin beds. *Please note: in 1910, hallways were not a thing. The master bedroom is completely separate, but the 2 back bedrooms and the third floor bedrooms are connected by doorways and you have to walk though rooms to get the other rooms. An additional full bath with separate bathing area and claw foot tub with rain shower is located on the first floor.
A truly comfortable and serene home, well behaved pets will be considered.
*Other notes: a max of 2 parking spaces are provided
*I price the nightly stay below the average because I understand that you can hear road noise. The town repaved our little two lane road that was once a horse path and now it is too tempting to fly by on it. I have been lobbying to get the speed limit reduced but in the meantime, I have put in noise reducing curtains in the front rooms.

The space was impeccable. Clean, spacious, cozy, warm and inviting. Loved our time there.

We enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse. It’s in a perfect location to explore all of the towns and park—nothing is more than 15minutes. It is even nicer than the pictures and had everything we needed. Plenty of space and a well stocked kitchen. Tracey was helpful and responsive!

Farmhouse was clean and in a good location to get to park destinations. Was nice to be close to the trails but outside the crowded bar harbor. Would definitely rent again.

A beautiful place to stay, with plenty of space for a family visit and easy access to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Tracey is super helpful and responsive, too. We're telling all our friends about it!

Had a wonderful time at this farmhouse, great location! Enjoyed every moment. The host was great!

The Farmhouse is ideally located close to the park, NE Harbor and the road to Bar Harbor. It is on a busy road and you can hear the road noise inside the house, however it becomes white noise after a while. It is not as busy at night. There is parking behind the house but can only fit 2 cars in a row since the owner parks on the other side of the gravel lot. The inside of the house is beautifully decorated and the downstairs communal area with living room, dining room and kitchen is air-conditioned. The large kitchen is well equipped with a double oven and two fridges. One of the full baths is off the kitchen. Like many NE houses, the upstairs bedrooms are not air-conditioned and opening windows and turning on fans helps with the summer heat. Only the master bedroom is private although the mattress was not as comfortable. The other bedrooms have double beds and are walk through bedrooms including the attic with 4 single beds and a half bath (perfect for kids). There is a full bath on the second floor by the bedrooms. The owner, Tracey, is responsive to requests and provides detailed instructions on everything in the house. We enjoyed our stay at this quaint traditional Maine Farmhouse.

Loved the house and centralized location. Only issue for us is we are all older and the bedrooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floor and that was a challenge for our group.

Fantastic location, cozy home and very well-equipped kitchen. We loved it over a long T'giving weekend. Highly recommended.

The house served our purposes well, especially the central location and excellent kitchen and cozy living room. Two items that should be more fully described on the web are the intrusion of the loud road traffic noise and the third floor bedroom being accessed only through the second floor bedroom.

We were two couples touring New England from Oregon, and were just amazed at how gorgeous and well-appointed this Maine farmhouse was. It felt like the owners just stepped out for a few days - there were so many personal touches. The kitchen was amazing! Two ovens, two refrigerators and supplies galore for cooking. The bedrooms were comfy and plush - we had our choice of numerous sleeping options/areas. And the attic for kids to stay would be perfect as it has a half bath up there too. We could have stayed for weeks, it was so homey and well furnished. Yes, you can hear the road noise from the bedrooms, so bring earplugs if that might bother you. Tracey was super responsive to our inquiries. Abel's Lobster across the road was a really great restaurant1

We loved the charm of this property, from the fireplace to the gardens. While this is very centrally located (10-15 min to destination in any direction), we were a bit surprised by the road noise in the front bedroom. The kitchen was fully stocked, bathroom and linens were great. We didn't realize that 2 of the bedrooms are 'walk throughs', so just something to be aware of depending on your travel group dynamics. Plenty of comfy beds, great dining area and very hot water! Tracey was very responsive during our stay.

This is such a perfect farmhouse - in a national park!!! My three sisters and I traveled from around the US to spend some time together and enjoy New England in the Fall. The gods were on our side! This house was such a nice part of our reunion. It’s quiet and peaceful, in the middle of the Maine woods. The host has done a wonderful job in making her home cozy and fun, from high-quality pillows and sheets to puzzles and games. Everything is very homey! The fireplace had a little trouble keeping the smoke outside, and the house is a little quirky, but it so charming in the layout and giving you a feel for how it would have been to live in the woods 100 years ago. I can’t wait to go back!!

House well set up for family vacation. Centrally located to enjoy Acadia, lobster, ice cream. House well stocked with kitchen items, dvds, games, linens, even bath robes. Only oddity was dispute with owner regarding damage to a chair a week after checkout. We were not aware of damage and she never told us which chair was damaged.

The house is beautiful. The location is ideal

The restored farmhouse was lovely but a bit too close to the road. Not much yard or outdoor hangout space but wild flowers were nice. Air conditioning on first floor only meant open windows upstairs at night. No lights to read by on third floor - best suited for little kids with squeaky single beds. Upstairs layout awkward since you have to travel through two bedrooms to get to third floor and through one bedroom to get to one of the second floor bedrooms. Could use another table in the kitchen. Dining room very nice, kitchen well equipped and 2 fridges. Nice.

Loved this place. Had all the things we needed to keep our vacation going great!!!. Tracey included details about hikes, restaurants and different locations in and around Mount Desert/Bar Harbor area. Super cozy beds but the best part was how clean the house was kept. Would love to stay here again!

It was a lovely place to bring our young family to Acadia. Beautifully renovated with a big kitchen, lots of bedrooms and bathrooms and it was incredibly clean and neat. Brought baby gates to keep our youngest safe by the stairs but had lots of room on the first floor to toddler around. We loved the central location as it inspired us to explore all over the park. Check in/out was a breeze. Thanks for a great vacation home!

We loved our stay at Tracey’s place. It was the perfect spot between Bar Harbor and Acadia national park. It felt very close to everything, while still giving you privacy. The house is clean and quaint. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed the fireplace in the mornings. I would definitely go back!

Close to SW and NE harbors. We like keeping Bar Harbor a few miles away due to large crowds. Dog friendly

The house was located in a good location to get to the places we wanted. We had a little trouble finding the house because you have to turn onto a small, stone road to get to it. However, Tracey was extremely helpful and friendly.

We enjoyed our stay at Watersigns. It is a great location, easy drive to the park and surrounding towns as well. The house is clean and inviting, great bedding and the kitchen is well stocked, plenty of cookware and dishes, etc.

An unassuming house from the outside opens to a cozy home bursting with charm on the inside. Everywhere you look, you notice a new, previously unseen detail that the owner has taken care to include in order to make you feel as if a friend has welcomed you to stay for a while. It was the perfect home base to return to after a long day of sightseeing.

Spectular home, spacious yet quaint! Watersigns was the perfect retreat from the Texas heat! We loved the grounds and the host! Loved that she opened her home for us to share. Beautifully restored 110+ home with all the modern day amenities. Would highly recommend and we can’t wait to come back again!

This house was a great stay for a group of us hiking Acadia. We had 3 couples... beds were small besides the master, very quaint, high quality house, great kitchen and well taken care of property... wish there was an outdoor patio/hang area with a firepit outside. The living room/hang out area is a little small for a group of 6 to gather in. A little close to the road so you heard the traffic at night. Tracey was communicative and helpful with suggestions. Easy drive to Acadia hikes and Bar Harbor.

Can't say enough about how attentive the owner is in details to her home, information on the area including hikes, restaurants and other things to do as well as ensuring our every question was answered. Location is central to everything.

We stayed in this cottage for three nights while visiting the Acadia/Bar Harbor area. The home is very cute and well cared-for - it's obvious that Tracy loves this home. She provided a great deal of the history behind it and the restoration of it, as well as lots of helpful suggestions about the area. The landscaping is very cute - it feels like you are walking into a little cottage from a fairy tale. The road in front of the house can be busy so there is some traffic noise, especially in the front bedroom. The kitchen is large with plenty of counter space. The wifi worked very well. The bathroom with the very nice tub is off the kitchen. The second floor consists of three bedrooms and a bathroom with two shower heads - very nice! One thing to keep in mind is that to get to the third bedroom, you have to go through the second bedroom, and to get to the fourth/attic bedroom with twin beds and half bath, you have to access it from that third bedroom. So it could be awkward for a group of people who aren't family/very comfortable with each other! The home was clean and Tracy was very responsive. Overall great stay!

A beautiful house with everything that we needed and more! Every room on arrival was a WOW moment and continued to be enjoyable throughout our stay. Kitchen amenities were awesome, as was the beauty. The soaking tub was luxurious and a great private getaway. The beds, pillows, and blankets tucked is in so comfortably that wet didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend booking a stay here!!!
