Very good breakfast.
The mushroom omelette we had for breakfast was simply outstanding.
Also the wine & cheese between 17:30-19:00 is a great way to meet the other guests.
Superb !

This was our first time staying in a BnB. I’m just not sure that it’s a good fit for us. The house was lovely and had plenty of amenities.
The bed was not comfortable and we couldn’t get the AC to a comfortable temperature.
We never saw the owners or any staff, not that we were there a lot, but just seemed a little different.

Absolutely beautiful place and the food is delicious, the hosts Dan & Joan are both so sweet and helpful. I noticed the pool also has a lot of floatable rafts and toys so the young ones can have fun as well.

Joan prepared wonderful breakfasts; Dan provided great recommendations about things to do and sites to see

You couldn’t find better hosts than Dan and Joan. The absolutely beautiful house with all the talent and memories hanging on the wall to the authentic period furniture gave the house a warm, friendly and calming atmosphere. Dan is quite the talent on the piano and can sing with the best of them. And waking up to Joan’s delicious and artful breakfast was fantastic.

Very quiet area only .05 miles from downtown and easily walkable.

Very nice stay, the Raven's Nest room was very private and we had our own parking spot off the road. Super charming New England feel with some typical 'old house' B&B things, but it was great to have a full kitchen and dining space to cook and spread out. Super homey feeling, and although we never got a chance to use them, there were great amenities and extras like wine and cheese in the afternoon.

This is a beautiful Inn, but it is tired and needs some love. The photos of the Inn are not even close to what it actually looks like. It felt like we were staying in the home of a great aunt who hasn't been able to take care of her home in many years. The owners were great, but the Inn needs some serious TLC. For the price, and expectations, we were very disappointed.

This is a really cute place and walking distance to the village center. We were in the Strawberry Room, which is cute, but a bit tight. Big closet, nice furniture, but there was no table to eat our breakfast (room service) or to use a laptop. Bathroom is great, we love the jacuzzi tub. The owners are friendly and very responsive. I guess the room was supposed to be serviced daily, but that didn't happen. It wasn't a big deal for us though, as we enjoyed our privacy. Overall, it was good for what we needed during our stay and we felt really safe and felt at home.

I am from Maine and have stayed at numerous Inns and B&B's in Bar Harbor and this place is a total joke! First there were no innkeepers on site to greet guests. Next the Abbott Suite we rented for $422 did not include breakfast, not disclosed until after reservation was made! Our bathroom toilet and shower were so small you needed to go outside to change your mind! The pumping unit that moved the waste water to the sewer line was so loud it would wake the dead. I guess the inn keepers were in witness protection because they were never seen! My advice skip this place its is not worth it! Their online add looks real nice, but seeing is believing. Oh and for the owner who was a school administrator, if you ran your school the way you ran this place, the BOE would have fired you ass! DO not stay here!

We booked the Abbott Garden room, which is independent from the Inn. Check in was easy as the key was waiting from us. First impression as we walked in: it was warm and comfy, but there was not a single bottle of water waiting for us. We felt the place had some sense of entitlement for being in Bar Harbor, like "we don't need to do anything else to please you other than being located here". The bathroom has a strange arrangement with all the sewer from toilet and shower being pumped up to to go somewhere else, and that noise is weird. We did not see anyone during our stay. The shower was great and so was the king size bed, very comfortable. The living room was good but a small table would make it better (rather than 2 sofas).Oh... and we did not have breakfast available as apparently, that room is not entitled to that. We had to go out to buy something (at Choco-Latte, which was great....), come back, and eat at the sofa. It was wet in the morning so we could not use the garden area and the fire pit. The Inn is within walking distance from Bar Harbor and easy to access Acadia Park. Parking is along the road in a tight space between the street and fence, but good enough. Now all is worth because of Acadia National Park!!!!

We did have a nice time at the Chiltern Inn for our honeymoon. We stayed 5 nights with them in the Raven's Nest apartment. It was a beautiful large space with a small kitchen, living area, dining area, bathroom and bedroom. The space is decorated in china, photos, and other small items. We had a small issue with our room- which the owners took care of right away. You do not receive breakfast or coffee in the apartment, which we did know about prior to staying there. There is a fireplace on display in the room, although it is not functional. Its about a mile walk into town- but parking is available right outside the B&B. Overall, our stay was very lovely and I would recommend staying here to others.

Room and property were very clean. The “garden room” which we had for two nights was comfortable, but not very private. Sitting in the garden was uncomfortable due to access to a second floor room is two feet from the thought to be private space. Given the lack of privacy, the door and curtain to the garden needed to be closed.

Spacious suite in great location. We loved the quietness and privacy of this inn.

We had an excellent stay in the North Apartment. My husband and I were traveling with our 3 and 5 year old children for a long weekend in Bar Harbor. The lodging was comfortable for our family as we prefer to have a separate sleeping space for the kids when possible. The innkeepers were friendly, the grounds were beautiful, and the kitchenette was stocked with cooking and plating necessities. There were several signs throughout the apartment that indicated which doors were accessible and which were off limits. There were several nooks with outdoor seating that we enjoyed.

We absolutely loved this inn! It was beautiful! We enjoyed talking with our hosts and some of the other guests as well. Our breakfasts were delicious. We were able to walk into town (15 minutes). I would highly recommend this to everyone-we will be back.

Dan and Joan run an excellent B&B. Very friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast and room was wonderful.

The Chiltern Inn was perfect! A short walk from all the bustle of downtown and literally a 5min drive from the entrance to Acadia. The Inn itself was a old carriage house and was converted into a beautiful B&B. We stayed in the Marble room which was very spacious. Dan and Joan were a great team, Joan made delicious breakfasts and Dan directed us to all the sights to visit. Also after hiking for hours and climbing the 'Bee Hive' soaking in the hot tub was a great addition. Looking forwarded to a return visit.

This is a beautiful and unique Inn. The location is ideal. The indoor pool was refreshing after a day exploring Acadia. The owners were friendly and very knowledgeable. We really appreciate all the tips for navigating around Acadia National Park. We hope to return and would definitely stay at the Chiltern Inn again

Beautiful restored mansion that operates as a bed and breakfast. We stayed in the garden room, which was large and equipped with a fireplace, spa shower, and a private entrance into the back garden. Lovely, and perfect for our little getaway!

Very attractive inn with friendly and helpful innkeepers. Great breakfasts, too! Within walking distance of downtown Bar Harbor along the Shore Path, which is a lovely walk.

First, it must be said that the innkeepers, Joan and Dan were lovely, unfortunately, that's where it ends.
Our first impression was the rusted patio furniture and unkempt gardens. Upon walking through the front door the musty smell was only matched by the pungent scent of dog urine which pervaded the area that passes for a lobby. Stained carpeting, cracked walls, and protruding wires continued the effect. There was a particularly grotesque stain around the piano. Our room was just tired. Again, cracked walls, peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, a carpet that though clean was way past its service life. Furniture was generally nice, but the bedspreads, chairs, pillows, and sheets were just old. Time to refresh! The bathroom screen had holes in it - these were repaired when we mentioned it to the hostess. Finishings in the bathroom such as molding, baseboard heater, soap dishes etc way past their prime. The view of the "garden" from our bedroom revealed another untended, dying patch of nothing. In an area where other B&Bs had lovely gardens, the state of these grounds was just depressing.
The social areas had great potential but everything was just tired, worn down, and uninviting because they were way past the time when they could have been perked up
Hugely disappointing.

Beautiful home and lovely owners who spoiled us with wine and cheese and a big and lovely hot tub as well as a gourmet breakfast served in a beautiful dining room. The whole place is very clean and light while the age is highlighted with antiques. The only think I would say about the Home itself is that our room could use a new carpet, but it was spacious and very comfortable with a huge shower. Dan And Joan were very gracious and Dan gave us excellent recommendations on where to hike and exciting explore. We would recommend the Chiltern Inn!

We were traveling with our one year old baby, and this always brings with it challenges in the usual hotel setup.
We had a great stay at the Chiltern Inn. We were very happy to see that the North apartment had ample space for a pack and play to be in a separate room, two bathrooms, a full tub, and ample kitchen and supplies. We also had fun in the pool, hot tub and sauna area. It was nice to have some privacy in our own entrance and parking spot too.
I would

The house was very nice with an excellent indoor pool and hot tub. Everything was very well cared for and it was only a 10-15 minute walk downtown - nice if you've had a few evening cocktails. Almost every room in the house had a fireplace which made me wonder how cozy it must be in the winter. Maybe a return trip to check it out is in the cards.
