You'll enter through a tranquil archway of trees, and you'll be delighted by the beautiful views and backyard oasis that awaits once you explore the property. It's the perfect location for all your favorite High Country activities...including curling up on the screened porch to nap in the hammock.
This cabin has been lovingly cared for by its owners, who regularly update and renovate the property – most recently by transforming the backyard in 2021 with wonderful, new amenities. Guests will be greeted by a second deck off the lower bedroom, a huge entertaining space centered around a custom-built fire pit, and an open treehouse large enough for adults and children. The backyard also features gorgeous new landscaping, a tire swing, a secret hiking loop that will delight the children, and a small amphitheater / reading space that is perfect for sketching or simply admiring the surrounding woods. Custom lighting and railings for the backyard entertaining space are scheduled for installation during the spring of 2022.
The cabin itself has approximately 2,000 square feet on three levels with 2 large, master bedrooms, a sleeping loft, 2 full baths, living room and dining area with vaulted ceilings, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, wireless internet, and a covered front porch with rocking chairs and a porch swing. The large, rear deck offers year round views of Hawksnest Mountain from the large Jacuzzi-brand hot tub located just outside the master bedroom.
A screened porch off the main living area and adjacent to the open deck is fully furnished with a small table for eating or gaming, as well as Adirondack chairs, director's chairs, a rope hammock, and a hammock chair.
The main living area, beautifully furnished with heart pine floors and a cathedral ceiling, has a large sofa, 2 side chairs, a 40" flat screen LCD television with 250 channels as well as a Roku player, a stereo, a library stocked with paperback and hardback books and hiking/tourist maps and a selection of games and puzzles, a stone wood burning fireplace and a drop leaf game table. As part of the grand room, the dining area's large pine table has seating for 8. The loft has two twin beds and overlooks the main living area.
The upstairs master bedroom has a new queen bed with a Casper mattress. The sitting area in the master bedroom opens to sliding French doors affording a wonderful view of Hawksnest beyond the deck with the hot tub. The lower-level master bedroom features a four-poster queen bed, a queen sized futon, a sitting area with a TV, a folding game table and chairs, private deck, and private bath. Also on the lower level is the laundry facility. There is a full bath on both the main and lower levels. Although it is rarely, if ever, needed, both master bedrooms are equipped with new window-unit air conditioners during the summer months. The fresh mountain breeze keeps the home comfortably cool year-round.

There was nothing we didn’t love. The property and location was perfect and beautiful. The tree house was so key with kids! The outdoor space with fire pit was heavenly. Inside was comfy, super clean, and very well stocked and taken care of. We loved it! Perfect for our family of 5 with 3 kids.

Great location the only thing was our trash was never removed but there was a snow storm so that prevented them from removing it. Overall it was a wonderful trip and the cabin was cute!

Cozy Getaway
This cabin is a very cozy place for 1 or 2 couples and kids to get away. Beautiful view with a well-maintained hot-tub, fire pit, and tree house.

Moved due to snow
Called me 2 hours before checkin time to inform me the cabin was not accessible due to snow. They moved my reservation to Aussies Den which was a nice comparable cabin. I do wish the hot tub went hotter than 99 at Aussies Den though.

Our stay at Scarborough Fair was so enjoyable. The mountain home is so cozy and comfortable! We loved the view from the back porch, walking the property grounds, and warming up in the hot tub. The new additions of the lower back porch, the firepit, tree house and the tire swing are really nice. There are so many enjoyable hikes available in this area. We look forward to our next visit!

perfect mountain trip!
We had a wonderful trip to the mountains for Memorial Day weekend and we loved this cabin! The house felt very personalized (we love that it's a family home), the hot tub was awesome, hammock and screened porch a bonus, dog-friendly, lots of kitchen essentials already there (salt, pepper, sugar, etc), comfy beds, and the kids loved the lofted bedroom area. We hiked the nearby Otter Falls trail and also rode the Alpine roller coaster. Could use some updated kitchen tools (spatulas and such) but we had a wonder time and we definitely plan to return!

Incredible home and location, appliances need updating, we definitely will stay here again!
This place really is incredibly lovely, the location is perfect, and we will definitely stay here again. The rental agency was very responsive and kind. :: Only one drawback: The appliances do not do the home justice. Replace the coffeemaker (we almost bought a new one as a gift for the house), the dishwasher, etc. to make the kitchen as fabulous as the rest of the house, and this place would be an incredible gem.

Great mini vacation
Our stay at this cabin was amazing! Check-in was easy, the interior looked just like the pictures, and was overall very cozy. We visited Banner Elk for a ski/snowboard trip at Sugar Mountain and the hot tub was perfect after long days at the slopes. The location was also great - wonderful views and a good distance away from neighboring cabins/houses. The note regarding needing four-wheel drive to access the cabin is for real! You will not be able to get to the cabin without four-wheel drive if it is snowing at all or has snowed recently. We also saw that they might have some remodeling in the near future, and we are excited to see how it turns out! We will definitely book this place again when we come back!

Blue Ridge Mountain Realty was great!
Due to weather things were very confusing on arrival day and being moved around and cleaning delays but very thankful for the employees at Blue Ridge and their communication and willingness to help. Everything worked out and we had a great time as a family. Thank you

Awesome family vacation
Our entire family enjoyed the stay here. It was for the kids to ski for the first time and just great to come back to the cabin, start a fire, either get in the hot tub or watch a movie.

Fantastic Property
Two weeks at Scarborough Fair in July was everything we wanted it to be! Every bit as beautiful as the pictures and then some! I was pleasantly surprised by the well manicured garden in the front yard. A pretty view from the back deck that with a bit of tree trimming would be at amazing. Being so far up the mountain (10 minutes from the bottom) left us comfortable without A/C around the clock. The location on Grandfather Mountain was perfectly placed between Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk along with all of your mountain vacation activities! I would most definitely stay here again!

Beautiful!
We have stayed at many cabins but this is one of our favorites! The location is perfect - way up on the mountain, but only 10-15 minutes from Boone, Banner Elk, and Valle Crucis. The property is gorgeous, with the cabin set back a bit and nestled among large rhododendrons on the mountainside. We loved the big wood burning fireplace, and the high-quality hot tub on the deck overlooking the mountains. The inside is cozy and inviting, great for families with children. We hope to return!

Super cozy, peace and quiet
My family and I had a wonderful time at this secluded mountain retreat. We came to escape the July heat of Atlanta and found the highs in the 70's to be delightful. The log cabin is comfortable and cozy with nicely appointed furniture and bedrooms. One really gets a feel for the family who owns this home. The fireplace was inviting in the evening even in the middle of summer. We enjoyed the deck and my son slept every night in the hammock. For all you cooks out there, the kitchen is well equiped with the essentials except for a 9x13.
The property managment company was helpful and kept us well infomed with check in and check out procedures. The keyless entry feature is very handy.
The only slight clarification I would add to the property description is that we were 6 in our party and found that to be the optimal number. There is a futon that shares the downstairs bedroom so depending on circumstances, 8 individuals could be accommodated, but it may begin to feel crowded...
We got a visit from the local bear so be sure not to keep food outside or in your car and be sure to secure the lid on the trash can.
All in all, we had a great time and will look forward to vacationing at Scarborough Fair again soon!
