The property is described as magical, enchanting, and a perfect place to disconnect, with beautiful scenery, cozy decor, and well-equipped amenities. Visitors loved exploring the trails, listening to the creek, and feeling completely immersed in nature.

This place is very enchanting.

House was exactly what was advertised, very clean, and had everything we needed. Love the secluded and forested area, beautiful!

We loved this house and the area surrounding it. Beautiful scenery, the rush of the creek, warm fires in the fireplace and complete peacefulness. A great place to unwind and reset before getting back to the hussle and bustle of life. The only negative is there seems to be a critter living in the downstairs laundry closet that likes to come out and play at night, but I guess that is to be expected being out in the wilderness. It just make sleeping a little difficult hearing something running around in the dark.

The amount of thought and time put into this property is indescribable! I would love to see the 'hot tub/hot spring' brought back to life that I read about in the guest books! 3 of us came out for a girls weekend, and it we felt like kids in an amusement park finding all the extras all over the property! We have to come back as we never found the guy in the tree that is in the ad pictures! I loved all the glass lights, (mushroom garden and the lilies) are all gorgeous!!! Only negative I can share is the beds are really really uncomfortable/hard. (this is coming from someone who sleeps on a sleep number bed set at 90!) Don't let that stop you from coming here though, just be aware. We also left our own painted rocks throughout the property so I hope it gives someone else a smile as they 'hide and seek' the property!! We WILL be back!!! Oh..and we had plenty of water and it was HOT!

The Stuga was AMAZING!!! The most peaceful and restful place we have ever stayed. The sound of the river was so mesmerizing. The bathtub upstairs was beyond what I could have imagined. We opened the windows and enjoyed the night air. We LOVED being totally disconnected from the outside world. If we needed to make a call, we simply went into town to make a call on our way to the market. We hiked at nearby trials, hiked around the property and found several hidden gems. Sitting on the patio with a morning cup of coffee and listening to the river was THE BEST!! The Kitchen was very well stocked with all the items you could ever want. Cozy, Cozy, Cozy!!! Highly recommened!!!

We arrived late at night due to delayed flights, and walking up to the home was an almost magical experience between the gushing stream, tall trees, and outdoor lighting that left an impression. We loved spending hours down by the creek reading and talking - hiking in the woods around the home.

Beautiful and private property on a small river. The house is very clean and comfortable with a well organized kitchen.

This house was every bit magical and cozy as everyone has mentioned, however the very first night of our stay, the water pressure was down to a trickle. In the morning we were down to nothing. No water whatsoever. This definitely ruined our stay. We spent the entire morning getting everyone out of bed early and skipping breakfast so we could drive into town to get cell service and use the restroom! When we called, we were told someone would call us back… at a location with no cell service. After waiting at the nearest grocery store for 30+minutes waiting for a call back, we decided to head back out to the house after purchasing gallons and gallons of water so we could drink water and flush the toilet. We packed up and spent the entire day on the mountain, since this was not an ideal way to spend the day. The beautiful shower and tub pictured were not able to be used, which definitely would have been nice after a long day in the cold snow. For $600 for 2 nights, I am beyond angry that we had no running water and no one that came and checked in on the situation or tried to fix it. We received no call back either. You ABSOLUTELY need to disclaim this well issue in the description of the house VERY CLEARLY or stop renting it until you have a more suitable well. No one would spend $600 for a house with no water.

The other reviews aren’t lying. It’s like walking into a fairytale. So beautiful & quirky. Everything you need is there. The kitchen is fully stocked. Plenty of blankets & pillows. Loved the trails on the property! Hope to come back soon!!
Something to note. There is a chain across the road once you get close to the house a neighbor monitors & puts up every time you leave. There is no mention of this chain anywhere in the description of the house. There were a couple pieces of very faded orange tape on the chain that wasn’t visible until you are right on it. Could’ve caused serious damage to our vehicle.

We rented this place for our anniversary and loved the romantic atmosphere: lots of candles, a beautiful bath tub, lots of antiques and space to sit outside and take in the forest. There were a couple of oddities, though—a weird sort of decaying smell permeated the house and although we got used to it over time with the help of our own scented candles, we’d notice it anew every time we came back to the house from being out. The bed was pretty uncomfortable, too. Otherwise a sweet cabin!

The house is gorgeous, unique and clearly built and furnished with so much love. For those reasons, it pains me to give the home a one-star rating (a first for me), but we had a couple of big problems:
1. We'd read the listing before we went. We were aware of the 150 foot walk from the car to the house. There was also a note about the driveway not being plowed and the trail into the house not being shoveled, but that seemed irrelevant as it was mid-April and the forecast sent to us by Vacasa only mentioned rain, no snow. While it was snowing when we reached Rhododendron, there was absolutely no snow on the ground anywhere on 26 or on the backroads to the house until you were maybe 300 feet from the parking spot. All of the sudden it was a winter wonderland and the car was sliding (we hadn't brought chains and didn't have 4-wheel drive because we had no reason to expect any snow). We parked and made our way through ankle-deep snow in our sneakers until we got to the gate on the suspension bridge, which took all of our strength to open - we're two 50-year-old women - because so much snow had piled up it was blocking it. When we got to the other side of the bridge, the snow was knee deep - it was impossible to see where the walkways were. We ended up going up what seemed like steps but there was no way of knowing, except that sometimes you were knee deep in snow and sometimes it was hip deep. We dug out a sled that was not readily available and had to hope and pray that we could carry all our belongings on it over the bridge without it careening into the water. It was treacherous in a way we never could've imagined, and we were shocked that there had been no communication from the homeowners warning us of what was to come.
We also had no idea that in order to work the stove, we'd have to go back out in the dark and deep snow to turn on the propane by the shed. Had we known in advance, we would've at least done that when it was light out.
I should also add there was no wood for the fire. We felt completely marooned and there was no wood on offer. There's a phone number to call someone to deliver it, but of course there's no cell reception, and anyway it seemed ill-advised for two women alone in the woods to call some strange guy and ask him to come over.
2. On the next night, I was sleeping in the downstairs bedroom when I heard a scrabbling over my head. I assumed it was some animal on the roof and it would go away, and then I heard it fall down somewhere behind me. There was a closet next to the bed that houses the washer and dryer; a thin rug is partially in the room and partially in the closet. After hearing the animal fall, I turned on the light - and the rug MOVED. I was absolutely horrified, cleaned all my stuff and shut the door. I've since read reviews of this place from a few years ago and saw that there was a rat problem in exactly that space, and a rat (or squirrel) is exactly what it sounded like. Definitely bigger than a mouse, definitely not as big as, say, a raccoon.
We left a day early because we just couldn't handle it anymore. (The homeowners provided a phone number at the cabin, but the only way to call them would be to hike all the way back out.) I don't blame anyone for the weather, obviously, but I would've assumed we'd get an alert about the unexpected and extreme conditions we were walking into. I also know that a house in the middle of the woods is going to be vulnerable to critters, but it was all too upsetting and we had to get out of there.
Like I said, it really is the most gorgeous home and was designed with so much love. I just wish a similar attention and care had been given to the guests to help us have a good experience.

We usually love disconnecting at the stuga. It's a beautiful and magical spot. Unfortunately, the water ran out while we were there so we went a night and part of the following day without any water for flushing the toilet much less cooking or bathing. After driving into town to get reception and request maintenance, someone came to pump water to the home from another source that was not potable. We then had to return to town to buy bottled water and carry that to the house for the rest of our stay. Overall, not as relaxing as we'd hoped.

If you are looking for the perfect getaway with no distractions this is it! Easy location to get too and was very clean during our stay. Highly, highly recommended!!!

The Swedish Stuga is amazing, no phone,tv, or WiFi. The absolute best place to unplug relax, and reconnect with nature! There little trails were nice. This place made me want to stay longer. It's very unique with the chandelier outside.

Got to splash in the creek and catch newts and just breath. Quality forest bathing to regenerate. Would highly recommend.

Amazing property!! We absolutely loved everything about the Stuga.

Location and house was great. Loved the home decor all the little details and the property was so beautiful, relaxing and enchanting. Loved hearing the creek. The property was very overgrown on walking paths and stairs. We had our 3 month old so made it hard to see the stairs or path with all the over growth. Huge fire ants on the porch that bit us. So couldn't really sit out on the porch with the baby. My husband killed about 6 huge carpenter ants inside the house. So couldn't put my baby on his playmat on the floor at all due to ants. Was also few fire ants in our upstairs room.

This is a gem and one of our favorite rentals ever! The house is cute and has everything we needed. The Swedish inspired decor and design is fun. The highlight of the property for us though was outside. The property is gorgeous, the briskly running stream is mesmerizing. We felt like we were in our own enchanted forest. The use of lighting at night makes it extra special. We were hesitant to book due to no WiFi or cell service but that may have been the best feature of all;)

Beautiful but waterless
It was an absolute dream to walk into this property and watch my kids play and pretend to be fairies. Waking up to the window cracked and the sound of the River coming in was something I never knew I needed. With all the beauty however we ended up with no water. Now it says the well is low but we stayed 5 days and we’re only with water one of those 😅 we each got one shower and then we couldn’t even get a drop out of the faucet the rest of the days. The power had gone out too for the whole town but that’s out of the owners control but just be noted that when it does happen the whole town closes so you better be prepared and have firewood already. As I said the property itself is like out of a dream but I never heard back from the owner after reaching out to let them know we didn’t have water and when your already cut off from the rest of the world it gets pretty frustrating not getting a response. Would I stay again? Absolutely but the water issue needs to be fixed and communication. Also the housekeeper was rather rude when we informed her about the water situation like it was our fault somehow and we were squatting or something even though I paid over 1000$ To stay here and drive across the country 😅

Absolutely wonderful
No really, this place will fill you with wonder. It takes a special place to evoke that in adults, and this is one of them. My partner and I *loved* our stay at the Stuga. The fun little details inside and out were delightful. The home is so cozy (once you’ve got a fire going), very romantic, and a wonderful place to (re)connect with yourself or the best person/people in your life. The Stuga is beautifully secluded and peaceful. I encourage you to come and stay for as long as you can.

A MAGICAL little stuga in the woods
There are not enough words to say how magical this cabin is! From the minute you go through the iron gate and over the bridge you are in a fairy tale. A chandelier in the forest to a huge clawfoot tub overlooking the trees, waking up with a view of snow covered trees (first week of February) to the crackling fireplace... the charm just oozes from every corner inside and out. Big windows with beautiful views from every room, candles everywhere, outside spaces with fun lights, so much land and a river to explore. This was the perfect place for my husband and I to unplug from the world and just enjoy each other and nature (and a lot of board games). We were there 5 nights and we are ready to book it again for all of the other seasons and winter again!!! I have never booked anything this fantastic and we travel often...this is something very special and I think we left a little part of our hearts there when we checked out this morning. It was well stocked and super clean.

Positively delightful
The Swedish Stuga exceeded our expectations! We loved crossing the rushing creek on the snowy footbridge and being greeted by such a cozy space. The house was nice and toasty, even with the snow falling outside. It was the perfect place to disconnect and recharge for a few days after a hectic feeling year. We absolutely plan to visit again!

After discovering the Stuga through Vacasa, I had a feeling that my family and I were in for something special. From the moment we passed through the majestic iron gate onto the bridge over the stream, it was love at first sight!
The picturesque house and pastoral grounds look like something out of a fairy tale. There are many trails to explore in this primeval forest and the ponds, architecture and design of the home all culminate to create a space where time is irrelevant. It was good for us to not feel compelled to constantly be checking our phones. I really loved the cool idea of the mushroom and fairy lights with the outdoor chandelier and bed frame - so unique!
The inside of the home is lovely and well-equipped. We had many gourmet meals prepared by my son-in-law on the high quality stove.
Sunny days are meant for exploring the woods and rainy days for curling up with a blanket and a book which, by the way, there are lots of great literature choices throughout the house. Thanks to the folks at Vacasa for delivering a brand new grill.
Although we stayed a week, it wasn’t long enough. We toured the Mount Hood area and Multnomah Falls and took some day trips to Cannon Beach and Newport to take in as much of Oregon as we could. It was always nice to come back “home.” The Stuga is a jewel - thank-you for this memorable experience - we'll be back!

So Relaxing!
This was a great little getaway. We loved being able to unplug for a couple of days! My kids enjoyed the stream and the serenity plus the property felt very magical. There are no screens in the authentic style windows so it was a bit stuffy the first night when it was a hot day but having the doors open brought in fresh air. Overall recommended!

Our family of four had an amazing week at this home. I want to give a special shout out to the housekeeper. We met her as we crossed paths on our way in and she was so kind. The house was cleaned to such a high standard. I tend to think of vacation rental cleaning being a little different from how we clean our homes, but in this case, it’s clear that this home is taken care of with love and attention.
The house itself couldn’t be more charming! We loved the Swedish decor and cozy feeling in the home. The grounds around the house give the impression of a resort; we felt so spoiled having the space to ourselves! We hiked many of the trails on the property, and spent some time in the creek every day. What a blast!
Many thanks for sharing this beautiful home and land with us! We will be back!

An amazing little cottage nestled in the woods. Close in but totally off the grid!! Clean, cozy, mystical trails surround. I found myself searching for fairies among the ferns and clover!! The sound of the creek is mesmerizing. Peaceful and well stocked. The clawfoot tub in the upstairs bedroom is amazing. I would highly recommend!!
Only one issue, we packed food with the intent to grill outdoors. Unfortunately the bbq grill wasn't useable. An old rusty wrench was seemingly holding parts together. We didn't attempt to use it because the deck rail next to it had been burned prior, assuming because of the inability to manually control the flame. Recommend the owner remove or replace!!
We cooked indoors on the nice Viking range but would have preferred grilling. Maybe next time.

The Stuga was absolutely the perfect getaway. It was quite and serene. The cabin had a lot of charm and character. Loved everything about the cabin. Being surrounded by trees and the stream outside provided all we needed. We had such a great time at the Stuga. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Wonderfully enchanting place
We spent a 4 wonderful days in this great home in the woods and loved every minute of it. The home was super charming, we had everything we needed, and enjoyed a relaxing time. The single item I would recommend would be a couple of screens for the windows so that we could have fresh air without worrying about the mosquitos and other flying insects getting in at night. Overall, highly recommend and plan on returning.

Best place I have ever stayed
This was a magical experience! I don’t want to say why because I want all of you who have never stayed there to be surprised, but I will give you a clue....go into the forest at night!
The river, exploring the forest, and feeling secluded was just what we needed! I already booked it again. ❤️
