About this cabin rental
Far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life there is a cabin, bordered on two sides by rushing creeks, and situated in the middle of a working, family-owned, organic fruit and vegetable farm. Disconnected from the internet, it's the perfect place for adults to enjoy a digital detox and the perfect opportunity to commune with nature and each other. The house is furnished with antiques, most of which are available for purchase. From the covered wrap-around porch you can enjoy your coffee while watching the farm come to life each morning, relax while the afternoon sun glistens on the pond, or take in a night cap while listening to the sounds of cicadas, crickets and the creek. Stroll the farm, shop in the farm store for fresh veggies, local gourmet foods, and food related antiques. When you're ready to venture out you'll find miles and miles of hiking, streams teaming with trout, beautiful Lake Santeetlah, several up-scale dining options with great views, and all kinds of local artisans making everything from cheese, honey and eggs to pottery, carving and weaving. Nearby, you can explore the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, ride the Tail of the Dragon, visit the Biltmore, explore the local food scene, or try a few of the local breweries in Asheville, learn more about Cherokee history at the Oconoluftee Indian Village, peruse the outlet shops in Pigeon Forge, and much, much more! Western North Carolina is a beautiful and diverse region with something for everyone! So book your cabin, take a deep breath, and prepare to fill your senses with all our mountains have to offer. Each season brings its own bounty and there is always something to do. (Please note that we do not allow children or pets.)

This is the 4th time we've stayed in the cabin and we continue to enjoy it. We love the peaceful setting while being a short drive back to Robbinsville.

Very quiet and peaceful only drawback is no cell phone reception or landline. Would recommend to anyone wanting some peace and quiet.

Great location and very peaceful cabin. Worked well for three of us riding motorcycles all around the area.

I recently had an amazing stay at Stony Hollow Farm cabin in NC. The place was impeccably clean, cozy, and exuded a peaceful atmosphere. It provided the perfect escape from technology and the fast-paced life, allowing for quality time with family. Exactly what we needed for a rejuvenating getaway. Stony Hollow Farm exceeded expectations, thanks to the outstanding hospitality of hosts Scott and Stephanie. They made us feel truly welcome, enhancing our overall experience at this fantastic cabin retreat. Highly recommended!

This was a place that me and two of my best friends from High school who haven't seen each other in 40 years decided to reconnect. It was secluded, beautiful, serene... Just a perfect setting. The cabin was rustic but plentiful. The owners were charming and friendly and willing to communicate anytime we had a question. The farm store was fascinating go through. Bottom line if you want to get away, get some fresh air, get offline this is the perfect location. You can definitely do worse and probably will if you go anywhere else. We are already talking about making it an annual visit.

I hate to be the one to show less than 5 stars but I have to be honest. The biggest issue was with comfort: this is a fine cabin in the winter but it was still pretty warm in early Sept and there are only 2 A/C units in the cabin, and they're in each of the larger bedrooms. For just 2 couples it might be fine but we had 3. We wanted our friends to enjoy these rooms so we took the smaller bedroom, but there's only a fan. When our friends closed their bedrooms doors it cut off any A/C supply to the rest of the cabin. It got very warm outside of these 2 rooms and we could not sleep very well. The following nights we asked our friends to leave their doors open and we had to stack fans in their doorways to distribute the A/C. I rated the communications terrible because there's no celllphone signal and no internet, but that's my fault for failing to fully read the ad that states it's a "Detox" cabin that's isolated from communication with the outside world. The rest of the cabin was lovely, with a cozy living area, a nice movie selection for the DVD player, fully stocked kitchen and bathrooms, a dining room that accommodated all of us for game playing/meals, and a wrap around porch stocked with rocking chairs and a patio table/chairs. I was surprised at how many towels we had and their thickness, and the laundry room was nice for laundering clothes. It's in a lovely, quiet valley that's convenient to Robbinsville and Fontana.

Great place to slow the pace! Family weekend to explore Western NC ... We genuinely enjoyed our time at the cabin with the rushing creek, rocking chairs, morning coffee and a visiting hummingbird. The whole family was thankful for the time together --- plenty of room for all. The added bonus of antiques and farm fresh vegetables was great! Planning to make a return visit!

It was fantastic. We were there to ride motorcycles in the region and this property was perfect. It was very secluded yet centrally located to all of the riding in the area. As far as the property itself was beautiful awesome views. The cabin was great. It had everything we needed. It was very clean and cozy. The beds were comfortable. I especially enjoyed sitting on the porch having coffee in the morning while we planned our ride for the day. Overall was a beautiful place to go, also to just unplug for a while.

Beautiful property with running stream, valley view, hills, wildflowers and a pretty dogwood. The cabin is comfortable and is well stocked. The king bed offered a comfortable sleep. The owner, Scott, is easily reached, and he stocks plenty of firewood for the wood burning stove. This is my second visit, and I recommend it!

However it was cold and we had to start a fire each morning and evening.

Scott and Stephanie were wonderful to work with. The cabin had the wood burning stove on when we arrived, and it was so cozy! We totally enjoyed our stay and hope to rent this again! We ventured out everyday and stayed pretty busy. The nights were cold, but the wood stove was really warm. My only negative was tv/DVD player could be updated. It was hard getting through a full movie without it freezing up, or messing up. As far as watching TV we are not big TV watchers anyway, but on those colds nights we couldn't do anything so we watched a movie. The cabin was clean, and spacious and had all we needed was there! I loved sitting out in the rockers on the porch and listening to the creek. It was around farm land and was absolutely beautiful! It was a well needed get away for me and my husband!

Such a nice setting near a babbling brook! We enjoyed the three comfortable bedrooms, spacious living room and kitchen, two bathrooms, and even a laundry room. The covered veranda with glider and rocking chairs was nice. Owners were awesome in response to questions. Plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, kitchen soaps, and kitchen gadgets. This was a great cabin, and I highly recommend this place!

Loved this gem of a cabin. It was a great base to explore western North Carolina and very peaceful to just sit and read when we weren't riding around. Scott and Stephanie were great hosts and responsive to everything. Will come back again in the future!

Unplug and Relax
This was a great place to enjoy the lack of technology and the abundance of fresh organic produce that Scott and Stephanie grow. We hiked, took long walks, played games, and read books. Definitely a place to come and enjoy if you do not want tourist traps!

30th Anniversary Vaca
Hubby and I wanted to get away for our 30th anniversary; specifically to some mountains. This location did not disappoint, nor did the cabin itself. From the time we pulled into the driveway it was cozy and inviting, like visiting a family member’s home. There was plenty of room but the space we used most was the wonderful porch. The description is accurate regarding unplugging, but that was what we wanted and were not disappointed by unreliable cell service or lack of Wi-Fi. It is a beautiful area and we had a nice visit with our hosts at their farm store. The only thing we wish had been different was the weather - we were there during the high heat wave, but even the rainy spurts were enjoyable under the covered part of the porch, and inside the cabin was pleasant with the AC units. Would definitely book there again! Forgot to mention this was our first VRBO experience and because it was so lovely, we will have high expectations for any other places we book :) thank you both!!

The Cabin at Stoney Hollow Farm was perfect!
A perfect quiet repose along a chattering brook snug in the mountainside. Could not have been nicer. Coffee on the porch in the morning and watching the mists form and rise as the sun creeps over the mountain.

Christmas 2021
Wanted to get away from it all with the whole family for Christmas, unfortunately last minute issues meant it was just the two of us and we wound up having to cut a day off our trip. So, we didn't get to enjoy it like we planned but we intend to come back this summer and try again.
The house is certainly off the beaten path (they suggest ignoring Google Maps once you near the site and follow their directions) and our cell service was sporadic. But we arrived in the evening to find the house lit up with a roaring fire burning. There were several heaters available so even though it got a bit nippy outside staying warm was never a problem.
The bedrooms were well-sized and having two bathrooms would have been a real plus if the whole family had shown up. We were able to cook a full Christmas meal with no difficulties in the kitchen and the porch looks out onto the brook you cross a short walkway over to reach the house.
The only 'negative' was that we're used to having some sort of guidance materials from the hosts. It took us a few minutes of fumbling around to figure out how to operate the DVD player and we weren't sure what to do about things like trash disposal when we were checking out. So, having that sort of information available would be helpful, but it's a pretty good sign if that's the worst complaint we had.
Would definitely recommend and intend to return.

Beautiful Cabin & Property
The cabin and the local are beautiful, even magical with the babbling brook next to the cabin that has lots of seating on the wrap around, covered porch.
The veggies we got from the farm were amazing. Fresh, robust flavors as nature originally intended. In fact, the farm store was not actually open the morning after our arrival, but we stopped by anyway to introduce ourselves. Even though Scott was busy preparing some freshly dug produce, he paused his work and took the time to show us around the store and allowed us to purchase some fresh veggies. He even picked some fresh Broccolini for us from the field, and he let our adult daughter assist him. This particular daughter is into organic farming so this was a real joy for her and one of the highlights of our stay.
It was cooler the first couple of nights, in the low 40's, so the night we arrived the wood burning stove had already been lit! Needless to say this made the cabin nice and cozy. Very kind and thoughtful of the owners to do that 🙂.
For future guests in cooler weather, when feeding the wood burning stove, you will want to be quick about it as you can get a good amount of smoke in the living room in a short amount of time when opening the stove door to feed another log or two.
We planned on cooking most of our meals but the lighting over the stove didn't work the first night, and niether did any of the other fluorescent lights on that side of the counter. This was not ideal for meal prep or cooking, but fortunately that was quickly remedied by Scott early the next morning.
We wish we could give this review 5 stars, as Scott and Stephanie are certainly that. But a few minor things still need a little attention. One side of the closet door in the master would not stay in the track which made it very hard to open and close, so really not usable during our stay. We also could not open the dresser drawers in the bedroom w/ the 2 beds.
I have no doubt these items will be addressed, probably before you even read this review.
Overall we had a great time and would highly recommend this property!

Stoney Hollow
We absolutely LOVED staying here! The cabin was so spacious & comfortable. The best part was sitting out on the wrap-around porch at sunrise, listening to the creek & watching the clouds lift off the mountain. The views were beautiful. It was so peaceful & we felt very safe. The owners were fabulous people with an awesome, smart young son. The area was gorgeous. I totally envy the people who live out there. To all guests of Stoney Hollow, you MUST plan an entire day to leisurely travel the Cherohala Skyway to Tellico Plains, TN & back. Utterly stunning. I cannot wait to go back!
