We LOVED the Happy Top Hideaway! It was beautiful, clean, spacious, and conveniently located to all the things we wanted to do including river rafting and enjoying Bryson City. We planned to hopefully book it again next year!

The cabin hits all the high marks. It has a beautiful unobstructed view and it was clean and has all the conveniences of home. It is minutes from Tsali mountain bike trails and whitewater rafting at Nantahala outdoor center. You can also get on Lake Fontana paddle boarding or rent a boat. There is something for everyone, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Couldn’t ask for a more cozy cabin and the surrounding town is so cute with tons of great hikes.

This was a very nice and comfortable cabin located at the top of a small hill off the main highway just 15min from the great town of Bryson City and 10min from Nantahala Outdoor Center in the other direction. It has a great big patio deck with a nice view mostly surrounded by large trees. There was also a fire pit area we used and a grill we did not. Very nice stargazing spot on a clear night and we saw fireflies both nights we were there in the summer. Nice equipped kitchen area and cozy bedrooms. There were some larger tv screens available with satellite tv, but we did not use them. The washer/dryer inside were also very useful. As some other reviewers noted, the path up to this cabin is a bit of a steep drive up a gravel road with some bumps. We did not have 4WD or AWD and made it OK but our crossover did seem to struggle one time and this was without rain. Nice little coffee spot, Cardinal Coffee nearby too. All around great cabin for a short getaway near the Great Smoky Mountains.

Didn’t have sheets for the pullout sofa….contacted customer service over and over and over and just got generic replies…. Kid had to sleep on sofa two nights no sheets… Happy Birthday!

Wonderful view and secluded home…. Perfect for our family vacation! Highly recommended!

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time. We brought along our 3 children and it was an awesome place for kids to run around outside. Very clean. The driveway is steep at the very top but if you hang to the far left you can avoid the big potholes. Our minivan did it just fine.

This home was so bad that I felt compelled to review 1 year later.
1st, I'd suggest not renting a home managed by Vacasa of North Carolina. If you need anything, good luck. Even they admitted they are very understaffed in the NC market and are not responsive, even after sending over a dozen pics of the filth upon arrival.
2nd, I've never seen a more disgusting property than this. The reviews after our time say how clean the home was - that's because we spent our first night and next day cleaning the entire home, top to bottom, everything. Dog hair was everywhere - all the sheets, blankets, couch cushions literally had dog hair falling off them, hair coated inside the dryer, even the inside of the freezer! Blood stains on a duvet cover & pillow, many other bedding stains. Spent night & next day cleaning.
3rd, Wifi didn't work - Was told by Vacasa that internet was a metered package, so if someone before you uses a lot of it you won't have any. Don't consider if you need to keep tabs on work while away. Working from McDonald's isn't fun.
4th, Property is not maintained; Bathroom sink didn't drain & there's a review from 6 months prior stating it was inoperable, still hadn't been fixed.
Damaged/rotted sections of wood on deck, including railings, made it unsafe for small children/pets.
There's much more, just no more space for the review. Vacasa eventually refunded the pet fee, which is peanuts compared to time and expense of what we had to do to the home.
Look elsewhere.

We loved this property. The cabin and the view were amazing. Would love to visit again.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here!
Very clean and cozy and all amenities:) You will not be disappointed.
There is a gravel road up to the cabin that can be steep in spots so I would recommend bringing your awd vehicle just in case. Once you are settled in however, the cabin has tremendous views and there is great coffee shop about 5 mins from the cabin(cardinal coffee).
Downtown Bryson City is about a 15 min drive so it's quite close with restaurants, pubs and shops for all different tastes.
You will not be disappointed !

Beautiful cabin with amazing views! Great location near the NOC and a short drive to downtown bryson city. The cabin had everything we needed. We will definitely be staying here till again.

This home was exactly what we were looking for during our time to see the Polar Express. The road to get to the house was no problem for us. We have an Armada but I could see where it could be a problem for others in the winter for the last climb before seeing the house. The view from the back deck is simply amazing and the whole house itself is cozy. The wifi did have some problems streaming movies but other than that it was just fine. Towels, shampoo, conditioner, bar soap (all dove), dish soap, sponge, paper towel roll, and one roll of toilet paper were all provided in case anyone was wondering. We had our own but just in case. We will definitely be staying here again!

Saw this property on VRBO. Looked nice, said it had gas logs, smoke free, remote. It was remote and the home itself is nice. When we first opened the door, we were hit immediately with a strong cigarette smell. The gas logs do not work, have never been lit. The shower floor was dirty and looked like it had not been scrubbed in a while. The oven has not been cleaned, black and caked food covering the entire interior. We contacted Vacasa about the smell and fireplace. They said they would put in a ticket. The fireplace was what sold me on the home. Never worked, had to wash the bed linens so we could sleep, aired out the house when we where there and used air deodorizer to try and get the cigarette smell out. My sinuses are still bleeding from the reaction of the smell. Will not ever rent this home again and will not ever rent a home managed by Vacasa. It is ashamed because the home itself is nice and the area is quite. Could have been a very enjoyable stay otherwise. I don't usually post reviews like this but since the response from Vacasa was so lacking, I felt it was necessary. Let us not forget the deck that has a couple of places where the wood has rotted through. Safety hazard!

This cabin is very clean. We really enjoyed our stay. It had everything you could possibly want and layed out very well! Loved the fire pit, and a swing area for small kids. Checking in and checkout was great! Would definitely stay here again

Location, Ample room and nicely furnished

Very spacious and comfortable property, the deck was wonderful!
The drive up the hill is a steep gravel road, so a consideration for wintertime.

Really lovely outdoor spaces. The deck is phenomenal and we enjoyed the covered porch in the rain. The inside is exactly as pictured. The WiFi does not work. At all. This is problematic for those of us who do need to check in to work while on vacation and a HUGE issue to those who work fully remotely. The half mile up the gravel driveway wasn’t terrible. I imagine it could be done in a regular car.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful cabin in the mountains. We would absolutely stay here again any time. the owners were wonderful and easy to communicate with. The view is AMAZING and the cabin is so nice.

Perfect location. Great mountain views! Property was just like the pictures.

We loved our stay at the happy top cabin. The cabin was very clean and very cute. We would definitely stay here again! Only thing was there was a huge yellow jacket nest under the back deck on the right side and my son and I got stung a couple times on our first day. But other than that everything was amazing!!
4.8
Nice clean secluded cabin. The driveway can be a small challenge but well worth it. Everything you could want while getting away. Will go back for sure

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The cabin is very quaint and location ideal - close to town but still feels secluded. The way the company communicates via text/call center isn’t something that impressed me. Two of the issues that I reported never got addressed. I’d certainly come back, but it would be nice to have a local in-town agency/contact person for assistance.

The cabin its self was perfect. The check in was a bit of an issue. We booked through booking.com but the credit card wouldn’t go through so we called the VACASA and had to give the number over the phone. They did say they were having issues with the online pay. We received a check in email with a gate code only; there is no gate. We had to call VACASA back at 9pm to get the code to the door lock which was no where in the email sent to us. This code is super long so make sure you have it written down. It would have been nice to if there were fire logs available for the outside fire pit. Being there for only one good real night we didn’t want to spend the money on fire logs. But again the cabin is nice only one small couch and two chairs in the living room wish it was two couches instead.

Words can not explain how wonderful this cabin is. This log cabin with one of the biggest wood decks I’ve ever seen will suit every need. Very quite and private, you have the whole top of the hill to yourself. You will not go wrong if you choose it.
