Beautiful property, loved how there was space and not over crowded. Taco bar was excellent. Beach was beautiful! Gorgeous property. Loved the ability to walk on the path through other properties.
Limited food options. Only 1 lunch option open - buffet or dinner only one restaurant open. Disappointed as the point is to try multiple places. We wanted options at our resort rather than having to go to the family resorts. Night entertainment started too late. Recommend at least a 9pm start time. Recommend more craft cocktail drinks as a 5 star resort. Menus with pictures included for the craft drinks. No bar at the beach or service at the beach.

Everything was outstanding from the arrival to check out.
There was nothing to dislike about the property.

The property is built for a large number of people, as it also hosts conferences. There is a lot of space everywhere and it never feels crowded. In one week you can barely try everything in a giant buffet. As if that wasn't great, you can easily book a dinner in four restaurants (more in adjacent properties), which are also excellent. Good quality drinks are available everywhere, including two pool bars. Live performances are offered daily.
If you like to swim in the ocean, the waves are lower than elsewhere. But this may not be the best place due to shallow water, some rocks and seaweed.

The staff where always smiling, friendly and helpful, checking in and out was very smooth , the guest services were great in helping us book restaurant reservations and figure out the daily activities, as well as the adventure excursions outside the hotel.
Liked the open concept of the main building , and the amazing large 4 pools , the large buffet restaurant where you never have to worry about finding a place to sit, with a wide variety of food , and almost everything tasted good. There was always someone around to help, whether it was the waiters in the restaurant or out by the pool .
The pools are large and clean , it had more than enough lounge chairs both in and out of the shade that we never had to worry about finding a place to sit even if we got there later in the day. The beach was clean with beautiful palm trees over the chairs. Both where open from 8am until 8pm which is great as most hotels close their pools around 6pm.
The room was large and clean, beds were very comfortable, loved having the hot tub in the balcony.
There is always some type of live entertainment at night in all the hotels , and as it’s part of a chain of hotels right next to each other within the same compound we were free to walk over or hop on the hotel bus to visit the other hotels , and we where free to use their facilities, and while guests at the other hotels where also allowed into our hotel they had to be 18 and above as we are adults only, so that was great.
They had a small mall with both an indoor and outdoor stalls in one of the hotels with all kind of souvenirs and locally made goods, in addition to clothing and mini convenience store , so don’t worry if you forgot to pack something, odds are you’ll find something similar there.
We got massages at the spa and the spa rooms where beautifully decorated and the therapists where great.
just that the chairs by the beach didn’t have any options for shade if needed, and there was a bit of seaweed build up.

Everything was great! Food is awesome, all the hotel is clean, will come back again!
As a Mexican guest I believe the staff preferred to attend Americans, I think you should speak to your people and make them realize that’s racism, when they notice you are leaving also a good tip they completely change and begin to be more helpful.

beautiful property, endless amenities, big spacious rooms
food offerings at French and Italian restaurants could be improved, nice modern locations however food is mediocre.
Staff at reception not very helpful especially if you ask in English, overall lovely stay enjoyed it.

amazing stay, hotel very new, room very comfortable with beautiful views and jacuzzi on balcony in every room ! food is great, there are four international restaurants in the hotel ( book ahead for the dinners) and we have access to other barcelo restaurants and facilities… buffet is great with so many choices.
big clean pools and excellent bar service. friendly staff, parking available for rental cars.
access to spa is paid and expensive even without massage or therapy services.
beach is ok, not crystal clear waters…

The overall experience was very satisfying at the Barcelo Maya Riviera. Staff was very welcoming, the room with the ocean view was outstanding, and just the overall vibe was very relaxing. Being adults-only helped too :)
The food overall was surprisingly a little bland. Be it the breakfast or lunch buffet or the specialty restaurants, our experience was the same throughout. The only exception here was the Mexican restaurant.

Part of the Barcelo network. Unfortunately, it is a separate hotel from the rest of the Barcelo, which has advantages and also disadvantages. Adults only site is quieter, but transport to other aspects of Barcelo becomes a challenge during early mornings for tours. Wheelchair access is also a challenge. I spent more than 5hours of my entire trip lining up at the 'reservation counter' for simple stuff like making dinner reservations, booking a bus tour trip, etc.; all of which can be done online. There is a lack of communication between the Barcelo sites.
Limited wheelchair access to other Barcelo sites. Inefficient reservation system (manual). Limited food options after main service hours. Restaurant bookings slots are way too early (5:30pm for dinner!). High price for value provided.
When leaving the site, was verbally abused by the Barcelo staff regarding the 'bracelet', however the check out protocol was not explained correctly.

The ambiance
The entertainment….There could be more variety and more genres of music could have been incorporated…..Entertainment was definitely too low key….I also found the nightly entertainment boring…..More could have been done for an adult only resort.

Amazing property with excellent food and service. Pools were beautiful and relaxing. Love having access to all properties and the shuttles are reliable
Not a party resort but there is a club on the compound at the other property. A lot of couples on this resort not ideal for early 30s single girls trip.

Great fascilities. Very spacious. Everything is new
The noise. All most every night there was a party
The dinner was always a rush. The 3 course meal took only 30 minutes
The english of the staff was poor

Employees were wonderful and the wait staff at the buffet and the specialty restaurants was stellar. The food at the specialty restaurants also deserves high marks with special marks for the French restaurant. The pool is beyond gorgeous and probably the best we have ever seen. The rooms are awesome with the biggest bed I have ever seen and very good size over all. Bar tenders at the pool and elsewhere were very quick and efficient.
The facility is very stark and medicinal. The use of a QR code for everything turned us off completely. This alone would keep me from coming back. I would like to get away from staring at my phone when I am on vacation. Looking at a paper menu and discussing with your spouse is part of communicating, not staring at the phone. The beach is horrid with sharp rocks and a difficult time getting out to open water. We elected to go to the Tropical and Beach resort to use their beach. Food at the buffet was so so with a lot of cooked food being cold and overcooked.

The hotel was excellent. Very relaxed and peaceful. Extremely clean. The food and drinks were great. I love the Miramar buffet area with many choices of meat, seafood, pasta, vegan, desserts, etc. The Sapporo Restaurant is one of my favorites. Employees are very attentive to cater to you. I had so much fun at the music and pool bar so did the beach.
The walking to the room was endless- so far away, but it was worth it due to the Oceanview. I couldn't have dinner at the Brazilian restaurant. It was all booked already for the whole week when I check in. I was disappointed on that.

beautiful property so many amenities
I loved everything no complaints

Spacious clean well equipped room.
Excellent food quality in the restaurants.
Lovely beach and pool areas.
Quality of the all included wine was variable.
Isolated location so nowhere to walk outside of the (large) resort area.

It includes everything
This is by far the most boring hotel. Better stay in another (Barcelo Maya or the central ones). You'll save money and you'll have a better experience

incredibly clean and great food. best Buffett I’ve ever seen with something for everyone. Beautiful grounds and pools.
Only 2 minor issues. no food allowed by pools was a bit disappointing and limited selection on all night room service menu from 11pm - 6am

Looking Clean and modern not over crowded, beautiful layout, definitely will get some if you bring your lady
Mexican, and Japanese restaurants were good, but buffet was not, maybe if food was fresh it would be better but I suggest those 2 restaurants or room service if you're premium level you'll get more bang for your buck, also didn't like go carts, water park were down, also tried to go parasaeiling but super booked, like you got to be there soon as they're open to get a slot
