This was a great little spot for the 4 of us and the location was perfect for visiting Acadia national Park and surrounding towns. Would definitely stay here again

Great location and immaculately clean. Very much enjoyed walking to the dock everyday to check the tide and kayaking. Peaceful and beautiful area. I would definitely stay here again.

I woke up in the morning and there was no water, no power and no cellular service.. need to leave the place one day earlier and was not offered a refund.. very disappointed

My husband & I loved staying at this treehouse location. It was the perfect size, equipped with all we needed for our stay. It was about 30 min from everything we wanted to do while visiting Acadia. If we hadn’t stayed here, and opted for Bar Harbor, we would never have seen this part of the area. Plus, the kayaks were a fun activity. Would stay again!

We enjoyed staying and working at the Tree House. We kayaked each morning in Bass Harbor and went on more adventures in the afternoon. Tha location was perfect quiet and accessible to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The tree house was clean and very comfortable.

A very charming, bright and cheery space. We enjoyed the quietside location away from the hustle but close enough to Acadia park. The views from the dock were beautiful. We had a relaxing stay. The host was very responsive in helping us with our needs.

This cottage is charming and comfy. It has everything you need, plenty of bedding, kitchen wares, towels, etc. The deck and patio set are great. The trees grew up taking away a potential view of the bay, but the trees do give the treehouse feel and privacy. We used the kayaks, dock, and garden areas quite a lot. The tide is very dramatic and the bay empties out, it will take a day or so to get used to that. The location is tranquil and out of the way, but there are quality restaurants and convenience stores within a mile or two. Just a couple of things, not a complaint, but informative, there is not a dishwasher so pack paper goods if you're staying as a family. Also, there is a long staircase up to the cottage. The steps are fine and there are handrails, but anyone in the party staying there needs to understand that you'll be doing these stairs to come and go, take out the trash, and do laundry, so you'll be doing them often. If we return to Acadia we will definitely consider this cottage again!

We really enjoyed our time in Acadia - this is a great location for the quieter part of Acadia, which we enjoyed a lot. Loved being able to take the kayaks and rowboat out on the water.

We loved the location of the cottage...far enough away from the crowds, but very accessible to Acadia & Bar Harbor. The cottage was clean and well supplied. We enjoyed our stay!

Very lovely quiet cottage. Only about 25 minutes from Acadia. It was perfect for our family of 4. I would definitely come back! Water craft availability was a nice touch! Thanks!

We had a great time staying here and appreciated the nice accommodations for our family with three small kiddos. Great location for everything Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, but far enough off the beaten path that it feels secluded and away from the busyness that can surround both of those places. Would stay again.

It was a cute upstairs apartment. Clean, well decorated, had everything we needed. We would stay again.

We enjoyed this great location and open concept space. The upstairs has wonderful views and is comfortably furnished. We didn't pay enough attention to the listing about second bathroom being located downstairs and accessible only by going downstairs on the exterior. It was fine for the 4 of us to share the upstairs bathroom, but would be somewhat challenging with more people. The lower bath is also quite small and musty smelling, so it would be best only as emergency overflow. The beds were very comfortable and kitchen seemed well stocked. The area is scenic and we very much enjoyed our stay!!! Host is responsive and instruction/info manual was thorough. Thank you!!

Quiet , perfect spot for a mellow relaxing stay on MDI.

Property was perfect for my first experience in Acadia. The area has a few other properties, but I didn't hear them even with the doorwall open to let in the fresh pine and floral smells from the outdoors.
Had all the basics to cook, grill, and relax. Food, gas, and grocery were not too far either. Limited options being on this side of the Acadia, but it got me out of the house exploring more. The Wonderland and Ship Harbor trail are a 5 minute drive away to get your morning walk on and see the sunrise.
The water levels were extremely low, so I didn't get to use the kayak amenity, but other than that it was a great retreat.

Perfect for 4 to 5 people, attentive host. Sea Kayaks are a nice bonus

The property was the perfect spot for a family of four. There was plenty of space for all of us. The area was quiet and in a convenient location with the average drive to Acadia NP being around 30 minutes. There was also easy access to Southwest Harbor shops and restaurants. The kids also enjoyed the kayaks available for use down by the dock. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area.

This quiet spot was exactly what we were looking for. The property is well kept and very organized. Easy access to the small pier with kayaks which we took out every morning!

This is really an amazing place to stay and I would come back. Great location and there is a short walk to the kayaks, and another short walk to another shore access spot. The only downside is if you have kids the deck is not super kid friendly, its high up and they could fall through the fence. We have an 8th month old and 3 year old and it was not an issue. The stairs a bit of work but staying in the tree tops was pretty cool. The main space was our favorite with many large windows. We even saw deer from the house, and some birds. You can paddle or row to archies Lobsters for lunch or dinner if they are open.

We vacationed here with our 25 yr old son and his girlfriend. Two 6ft males and 2 women very comfortably enjoyed the entire stay. The property inside and out is noticeably well cared for and maintained. The listing is accurate on pictures dimensions amenities. Yet the experience being there is so much more. Nestled away on a quiet street completely relaxing even in the midst of peak season. We woke up each morning and watched mama deer and her baby wandering by nibbling on plants as close as the hammock. The view from the dock or garden is like beautiful changing artwork from sunrise to sunset. We paddled out to the harbor in the kayaks, leisurely floating watching the shorebirds diving for fish and all the colorful boats anchored or coming and going. Thurstons restaurant is only a mile or so from the cottage, right on the harbor delicious lobster meals. Bass Harbor Lighthouse is nearby and just beyond that is Shipyard Trail. We fished and spotted a baby otter in the tide pool also fishing, popped up with tiny fish in its mouth. We just thought it was the perfect location, close to all MDI has to offer, just enough distance from busy tourism to feel immersed in peace and nature. Not enough to room to share every highlight. For certain, the host, the cottage, the area of Bass Harbor were a big part of this being a great trip. I definitely recommend. Also footnote, I just turned 50, not an athlete but I climbed The BeeHive with my son. If I can do it, you can do it🙂. I say that only because I easily could have convinced myself not to. It was so worth it. No regrets

Wonderful stay!
We had to make a last minute change in where we were staying on the island and found the Tree house. The owners are wonderful and the location was perfect for our family. Thank you!

This review is for both the potential customers and the host. To be clear: We have no complaints about the host or the property. We just hope that the information I will give will be helpful.
The bedrooms are small/stuffy and the two beds in the second bedroom are tiny. Even with the sofa bed in the living room I cannot see the maximum of 6 people fitting in comfortably---fortunately we only had 4 people in the group. But I have seen plenty of New England houses like this, so I can't say I was surprised. Another reviewer already said the second bathroom was not really usable. I agree---during our entire stay of 7 days we used it exactly once. But, again, I read that review before booking, so I am not complaining.
What I want to say to the host is that the 9:00 AM check-out time is not practical. I understand it is your right to determine the check-out time, and I appreciate your flexibility when we were not ready until about 11:00 AM on our check-out day. I just wonder how many of your customers actually were able to pack up by 9:00 AM on their check-out day. If you have to allow flexibility for the majority of your customers anyway, why not just change it to a more practical time? I believe most hotels' check-out time is 11:00 AM or later.
Overall, I liked our stay there, and I usually would not post a review when the experience is 'as expected'. I decided to post one in this case just to be helpful.

The TreeHouse was the perfect spot for my wife and I. We have never been to Maine and planned on spending a lot of time in Acadia. The place was just perfect for our needs.

Amazing Treehouse stay
We had an incredible stay in the Treehouse. This quiet and quaint neighborhood was just what we needed to unwind after a busy day of exploring and adventuring in Acadia. The cottage was well equipped and spacious for our family of four. We look forward to a future stay in the Treehouse on the quiet side of the island. Thank you!

Treetop
Nice view of the treetops on the property and a little of Bass Harbor. Eat at Archies up the road, the buttered lobster roll is the best tasting roll we had that week. The lady taking care of the property was very nice. Close to two hiking trails along the coast just around the corner from Bass Harbor Lighthouse. An easy drive to Acadia National Park which has more trails than you could hike in a month. My only complaint would be the number of people in the area on labor day weekend and the following week. A two hour wait for a popover at Jordan Pond House is a bit ridiculous.

acceptable but not inspirational
The mattress of queen-sized bed that I slept on was a bit old and uncomfortable. I could feel the springs as a slept. The one rowboat that was available had a bit of a leak and you have to pump out the water. The outdoor grill was a bit dirty. The home needs a few more utensils: tongs, brush for grill, and a peeler (I think). The Treehouse is an acceptable choice, but not inspirational.

Great place to stay for a family of 5
The treehouse was a perfect place for our family to rest and relax in between our Acadia hiking adventures! Property is beautiful and the house is comfortable. Loved having coffee and adult beverages on the deck among the treetops!

The Treehouse
We had a fabulous week staying in Bass Harbor in the Treehouse! This is an upstairs apt, tucked among the trees! Beautiful views, exceptionally clean and updated and great location for our family. This property is about 25 minutes from Bar Harbor and also has great local trails, a cute town with great restaurants, and our favorite activity—sea Kayaking. It is also close to Echo Beach. We would come back in a heartbeat.

This well maintained, well stocked, and cared for apartment was perfect for my wife and me. The surrounding garden area is full of beautiful flowers and trees that you can look out on, and a five minute drive puts you in Southwest Harbor. We spent two weeks and during the first week had a concern. The management were responsive and gracious and I appreciated that they took care of us. Thank you!Two thoughts: We could see four people staying in the apartment but six would be cramped. This is because the “queen size” bed is a full-size bed, and the downstairs half bath really isn’t part of the property. The staff frequently used it and you would have to go outside and down the stairs as well.Overall, thanks to the management. It was a very enjoyable stay and we would not hesitate to go back.

NOT what we paid for or expected from the pictures or the online description. I'm sharing the lesson we learned first, in case you don't make it through my complaint-o-gram: We decided to make the best of a bad situation while we were on vacation & called VRBO to complain when we returned home. VRBO said that we should have called them when we arrived. They assured me that, given the situation, they would have moved us to new, safer accomodations. I will remember that for the future. For the price we paid, this should have been way nicer. We got rooked . MOST importantly, this rental did not feel safe. The steep grade of the stairs was certainly not to code and there was no type of slip protection on the narrow boards. When they were dew-covered in the morning, they were impossible to safely climb up and down. We had an infant with us and it was very stressful every time we had to climb them. The surfaces of the unit were clean; however, all of the furniture was old & worn. The fabric chairs & sofa didn't smell clean. Another safety issue: there was a jagged bar of metal sticking out of the side of the sofa. I didn't see it & injured my leg on it on day 1. 7 days later when we left, I still had a bruise the size of a softball on my leg. That jagged, metal bar was also right at eye level when our 10 month old was crawling. We blocked it as best we could, but it made it hard to relax & enjoy our stay. The dishes were chipped & mismatched, sheets on one of the beds had holes in them, many of the towels needed to be thrown out. The "2nd" bathroom should not have been counted with this unit - totally inaccurate. It is on the first floor, completely separate from the unit, and opens to the outdoors. It is not fully finished out and there's some sort of weird sewage box right next to the toilet that makes crazy noises any time you use the water. It looks like the restroom & storage area for the many handypeople & workers that constantly come and go. And who's going to be able to get down the slippy stairs after dark or in the early morning to use it anyways? Another inaccuracy - that cute dock & boat picture? Yeah, that's nowhere near this converted garage rental. You walk between other nicer rentals to get to a dock that is so steeply inclined that most people wouldn't attempt it. There is no where to sit or hang out by the water because you're boxed in by the other rentals. Wouldn't stay here again if it were free.
