Beautiful setting
A little out dated
3.6
Large room and large bed.
Room and hotel in general looking tired and could be cleaner.
Breakfast was a nightmare. We had to ask for bread as it had ran out. We asked for butter, they said it was on the table, but it wasn't. The tea and coffee we requested didn't arrive so we had to chase. I know they had more diners than they expected but it was pretty manic.

Staff were fantastic especially Martin the maintenance engineer who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was what we wanted.
The price of the drinks is a little high for this star hotel.

Check in
Rather impersonal

Location was amazing.
Room was quite bland. The place wasn't as grand as some other Macdonalds hotels. Staff were amazing and very accommodating.
3.6
Very friendly and helpful staff. Generously sized room.
3.6
Nothing it was freezing
RIP off prices and no heating

The rooms were nice. We were in an organised golf party and the organisation of feeding big numbers at the same time was excellent. The staff were amazing so very friendly and they could not do enough for us. Julie is particular was fantastic.
The golf course could have been a bit better maintained. Also the drinks were very expensive ouch !!

The scenery is beautiful
My stay was too short

Very little, understaffed, poor service, wanted to leave on the first night.
No staff, slow service. Having to complain about servicing the room two days in a row. Breakfast was a buffet until the morning we were leaving. Suddenly staff appeared and a plated service. Very poor.

Location
Our room had damp patch on carpet and smelt of damp . Apart from this the Room was clean and good size

Asked for a pot of tea. Had to ask for milk and after 10 mins the table next to me offered theirs instead
The hotel was dirty. Around the bar and restaurant area the floor and walls are marked, there is a large patch of mould / stain on the curtains by the doorway. Every single chair has dirty grease marks on the arms and shoulder areas.
The food was abysmal, the chef's never heard of salt and pepper, prawns were wet and soggy, marie rose sauce was extremely acidic, the steak was poor and unseasoned and the amount of sauce provided was miniscule. We were purposely ignored by the wait staff when it became clear we were not eating our food. We waited at the table for twenty minutes for service after stopping eating before giving up and walking out, leaving our dirty plates behind.
We paid over £30 for a bottle of wine which was left on the table unopened and we had to serve ourselves.
We were not offered water during our meal. We had to ask for butter to go with the bread and when it arrived it was straight from the fridge.
The bedroom was not very clean, the water jug and glasses were not cleaned / replaced during the entire stay. The remote control did not work.
The bathroom floor was dirty on arrival and was not cleaned at all throughout the stay. The shower was full of pink mould, all the surfaces felt unclean. The toilet did not flush.
The towels were frayed and the replacement towel had bloodstains on it.
The bedroom window did not lock and could be pushed open from the outside.

Location was great , great bedroom and breakfast.
3.6
amazingly friendly staff, good location and good golf course
the bar closed at 11pm on a Saturday night!
3.6
doors that opened to the view of the golf course
those same doors allowed the sound of early morning golfers in along with the fresh air
3.6
Location was well set and the leisure facilities were good.
No air conditioning in the room and the sink in the bathroom had a stuck plug so wouldn’t empty. Damages to walls etc in the bathroom.

Beautiful setting, fabulous staff and food

The setting was beautiful.
The hotel is tired and ineed of a update especially the shower cubicle.

Lovely property, spacious room & really comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean everywhere, reception staff were lovely & very welcoming. Had a lovely swim, most welcoming as it was a hot day. Well kept grounds & the golf course looked fab (not a golfer) . Would definitely return
Unfortunately breakfast was a let down. For such a high standard of property & previous encounters with staff I was very disappointed with my breakfast experience. To start there were 3 staff & only 5 guests (including myself) I was seated & asked immediately if I would like tea or coffee & told to help myself to continental breakfast (cereals etc). Unfortunately there were no offerings for myself (allergens) I recently stayed in a 2* basic motorway property (costing £100 a night less) that had packets of G/F cereal, milk alternatives & G/F cake & biscuits. I requested scrambled eggs on G/F toast, I waited around 10-15 minutes to be given 2 slices of bread (I can't call it toast as it looked like it had missed the toaster) I asked if it could actually be toasted, (server seemed perplexed by my request). In the meantime my eggs arrived, unfortunately not some of the nicest I'd had. My 'toast' then returned, again I use the term 'toast' loosely as it was still only slightly coloured & not at all crispy. I gave up!!!! I didn't bother with the rest of my stay, if I had paid I would have asked for a refund, (I suppose in a way I had paid even though it was included in my room rate) extremely disappointed considering the cost & the standard of the rest of the hotel. Also staff moaning about their job quite loudly to each other is not a good idea. Changes are needed.

The room was beautiful, loads of space and a really comfortable bed. The coffee machine was a great touch too

pretty shoddy. bar prices were ridiculously extortionate

the spa access was nice but never really had the time to use it. I also requested a twin and was told that this is fine and my room would be set as a twin. it wasn’t. lights in room were not working - hot water was temperamental.
the restaurant and food service.
as I was with my family we chose to pre order the set menu. upon arriving at the restaurant we couldn’t find anyone to sit us. When one of the staff members eventually sat us down, we were totally abandoned. no drinks orders were taken, the tables weren’t fully set. then sporadically after about 25 mins our food started arriving - Still no drinks, I went to find someone I could ask for atleast some water. that took another 15 mins, by this time I saw some jugs of water so me and my uncle served our table. starters were not only cold but also wrong. supposed to have toasted sourdough, truffle and chive dressing. there was no truffle, but a fried egg on top..which I’m guessing was the substitute but made this more of a breakfast brunch dish. nobodies meals arrived at the same time. again we were sat another 25 mins before anyone came to clear. my cousin sat next to me had ordered risotto, first thing she noticed was a hair in the meal. as the staff were hard to come by she decide to spoon it out and eat as she was hungry. Eventually we were able to order wine, however not get any wine glasses, not sure if we were expected to drink out the bottle? had to take glasses from another table. at this point we were all wondering what could possibly be next?! The desserts started to arrive. first came the apple pie and what was supposed to be creme anglais..it wasn’t it was congealed custard that must have been sitting under a hot light for about 20 minutes. It looked like fake food and not appetising at all. the cheesecake was warm. We were left with dirty dessert plates for about 30 mins and another 30 waiting on somebody, anybody to bring our bill. it’s like we were totally forgotten about. seriously disappointed, and would like to request a refund for the sham of an evening I experience for the highly overpriced let down of a three course meal.

We had a nightmare of an evening meal. The steaks were just about ok but not value for money . We waited nearly an hour food having order 4 main course. The Waitrose had only ordered 3 meals so I had a prawn cocktail instead.
3.6
Breakfast fine although lots of choices had £3 supplement.
Staff very cheery and willing to help with problems.
Our room - bathroom had to be cleaned - muddy spatters up bathroom door, in and around bath. TV remote missing, room phone did not work. Daughter's room had ripped bed divan, badly made bed, grubby bathroom with only the basin hand wash having any soap, no disposal bags, tissues ( she did have instant £50 refund). Swimming pool tricky to access and grimy feel.

To expensive😡
Paying £38 for2xfish &chips disgusting

Location good
Breakfast delivered to room cold, no milk, or condiments, toast not done properly rope

I looked the room where we stayed
I didn’t like the restaurant
we had to ask 4 times to get a bottle of water and we had to wait for our food 45 minutes

bed was large, but our dogs for which we paid £60 were not allowed on it in their rules but were only allowed on the floor with nothing provided.
Website stated "May be a charge" for dogs; we paid £60 for our 2 dogs to lie on the floor; no dog bed, water bowl or anything for the £60 except a 12 point list or rules & restrictions.
Room was poorly cleaned when we arrived and was not cleaned between our two night stays, which we have never experienced before.
Reception staff argued over if the dog price was presented up front (it was only known when one received the rules sheet), that it was the guests fault that one of the two very old continuously re-used room card keys never worked and the second one stopped working locking us out (we had apparently put it by a magnetic field), over whether they were going to change the two ancient collapsed pillows as we asked. They entered our room at our first breakfast the following morning and removed the two pillows we were given. We had ONE towel for two of us and had to ask for another + 2 face towels, then insist they changed them after our first use. We were given one new toilet roll plus a quarter remaining from previous occupants. Un-avoidable mud from golfers all over entrance and car park needed someone allocated to wash it off (or provide the golfers with an air jet machine to clean their shoes off just after they come off the course as everywhere I have known does).
Decor, maintenance & general upkeep poor, not a loved feeling as a hotel.
Sports club bar food at haute cuisine prices.
