Breakfast is always lovely, hotel is in the perfect location for what we needed.
Cold water in the room runs hot for a long time - something not right with the water pipes?

Exceptional staff and Inn. But the plus devil was in the detail! A rubber duck in the bathroom, the personal handwritten ‘welcome’ note by the bedside, the wonderful retro Robberts radio playing classic fm. It’s little touches like this that turn an eight into a ten.
Our meal and table reservation was flawless and the food served really tasty. Simple English dishes served with style. We run a hotel in France and give credit where credit is due.
You can stay, dine and relax in comfort, enjoy comfortable well equipped quiet rooms, but be at Stansted, even dropping off a rental car in less than 30 minutes.
Great Dunmow is also a beautiful thriving historic village in which to spend an afternoon exploring.

Accommodation was comfortable and clean, staff very friendly.
Food was overcooked and did not receive all components of the meal, vegetables missing etc.

The breakfast was lovely just a shame they don't serve it till 8am. But was offered toast and coffee and croissants before hand. Great choice. Second time staying and was in a room in the court yard which are larger rooms.
Although I have returned to this hotel mainly for price and for the breakfast. The down side on both visits was the noise. Being a pub the rooms are to close to the out side seating. Was woken up by someone papping there horn at 1am. You have to appreciate its a pub and you will get noise.

It was perfect. Little bit of noise with music and a foul mouthed “lady” but not enough to keep us awake . The room was warm not hot it was spotless the water was lovely and hot but not scolding the staff are so nice

it was very clean and the service was great, rooms and services were easy to find.
Car park was a bit small but bearable and managed to find a space on arrival

Lovely welcome and very friendly staff throughout the stay,, big room lashings of hot water, big bath and flannels! Choc and nice coffee, huge bed, dog friendly and I could leave her at a fab dog grooming shop next door whilst we had a cocktail in the bar. Dog could come to breakfast or stay in room..and an amazing breakfast too... Will defo revisit..brilliant. Good value
Absolutely nothing

The staff were great as was breakfast and off street parking so near our room was very helpful. Our dogs were made welcome and the 'street theatre' of customers on a Saturday night with a band playing in the bar while we had dinner was very entertaining! Room was lovely and warm on a very cold night
The room was very tired and the handle above the bath was not just rusty but the metal had corroded to leave a jagged edge.

History, location
Bedroom was dated, wallpaper peeling off, shower head leaking, bedroom lock not too secure (no chain) etc

I had a room with bath (not shower) as requested - really appreciated.
Very welcoming and friendly staff.
Table at breakfast had a definite slope! I know it's an old building...

Breakfast was fine - nothing outstanding but our meal in the restaurant with friends was delicious
Basically it was a public house we were staying

I wasnt feeling very well and the barman organised four liters of bottled water for me as I was being sick and suffering diarrhea. This helped me purge my system of whatever had made me ill.

Great Atmosphere
Breakfast was adequate but not exceptional

creased curtains, tired looking decor, dirty electric radiator.

Location very convenient, comfortable and reasonably quiet. Very good breakfast, friendly staff.
Some wear and tear apparent in room 3 - TV produces sound but no picture, shower very difficult to adjust for a comfortable temperature, shaving / vanity lights detaching from mirror surround (potential shock risk) and apparently non functional. None of these affected me particularly.
5.0
Staff helpful. Central position. Changed my room when asked to a quieter one.
Bathroom shabby paintwork peeling. Gap between wall and basin and toilet, smelt of drains. No coat hangers but we're provided when I asked.

inside bar and restaurant was very cosy
bed had two single beds pushed together as a double so not the most comfortable

The pub itself is great, good food and friendly staff.
The hotel rooms are very shabby, broken lights and poor facilities.
10.0
The hometown atmosphere.
There needs to be more information provided about the available transportations to and from standsted Airport. I went to the bus stop near the hotel yesterday and saw a schedule. But when I arrived this morning before 0400. The bus driver said the bus would come at 0530. There was no schedule indicating 0530 anywhere.
Also be aware there are no taxi services that early in the morning. I used every taxi app and nothing. But I was able to make my flight, but barley.

Location.
Parking.
Comfy bed.
Good breakfast.
Good value for money.
The dirt on the bathroom floor that I thought was a huge spider, but was a clump of somebody else's hair...
Dust around the electrical sockets obviously not cleaned.
Fire doors all over left open.
The heating didn't seem to work.
The bath slippery at the end where you get out to the bathroom floor (no non slip tread in the bath there just the shower end).
The shower where turn on at the wall had all come apart so not easiest to use.
The shower head rose needs a good clean, all orange with scale.
Couldn't read the 3 bottles on shower wall, presumably shower gel, shampoo, conditioner but couldn't read them.
Not enough milk supplied. Only managed 1 coffee.
Ran out of milk at breakfast, staff had to go to local shop to buy milk!!
